What I like about Townships is that you will never go short of skills. The builders, plumbers, electricians, pavers, every skill you want, you find in a Township. Lovely video.
@@Bling_The_Visual_Creator what terrible job? most of the people work in big companies. When you take your vehicle for a service, probably the guys who do the job comes from a township. You are the one one with terrible comment.
Watching from Australia, this is one of South African success stories & suburb. Last time I was in Protea Glen was in 1996 . But was only small houses, now the suburb looks pretty, big houses, lots of double storey houses & big gets, beautiful front yards, everything is perfect & well presented. Thanks for this incredible Vlog of Protea Glen.
It's funny how townships were supposed to be depressing spaces but they turned out to be beautiful spaces when everyone works together 😅😅😅shout out to Soweto
Protea glen is too big, I wish ext 7, 8, 9, 10 be covered next time where you will see 5 double store houses in just one short street, ask sweet braai street not far from BASA combined school. The ext are not far from n12 highway
We, are very proud of Soweto, that's why when the ignorant UA-camr Wode Maya made a video saying Soweto was the biggest slum in Africa we descended on him and his ego was dented so much he hasn't healed from that.
Thank you for showcasing the beauty of Soweto. I've enjoyed all your videos on Soweto. Nevertheless, there's another township that's as well kept as Soweto on the South Eastern part of Joburg called Spruitview, it would be nice to hear your views on it as well.
The attention to every detail when cleaning is what sets South Africans apart. South Africans are very clean. It has always been our culture to sweep you front and backyard (ibala) and clean your stoep as soon as the sun came up. It was a disgrace to have a dirty pavement, front yard and stoep. In Meadowlands in the 80's the people would go as far as polishing the brass handles on their windows, polish and buff the stoep with old stockings until it shines. The windows and windowsill were cleaned daily too. And that was just on the outside. When you stepped into the kitchen of that four-roomed house, the coal stove and chimney were gleaming and so too were the aluminium Hart pots resting on the canopy. Our people are different and this cannot be downplayed.
Very true sisi. You forgot to add the enamel bucket that we used for drinking/ cooking water that would be next to the coal stove. We used to shine it with brasso as well. It would be a source of laughter if your bucket wasn't shiny enough. After all the shining of the stoep then it would rain for 30 minutes and the sun back on blast again, yho then it's back to square one. Oh how I miss those blissful days
@@youme1414 The average house price in the Protea Glen extension where Curro is located, is around R1,3 million. Curro is a private school in RSA targeted at upper middle to high income earners, it is among the top private schools in South Africa. So for it to be in this area , a supposed "township," speaks to how the school views the area. The fees can be as much as R80,000 p/a at Curro, depending on the grade.
@@youme1414 I know you believe that only white people are rich in south africa and the blacks are just poor and uneducated. FYI, there are approximately 17,300 black millionaires in South Africa. Lovely. I do property maintenance and my team painted the ivory double storey @ 3:41 back in year 2017 went back to refurbish it late last year as a young pep up for a wedding event that was set for November. Listening to y'all reaction to it, brought tears of joy to my eyes 🥲 Shout out Soweto ..Beautiful video 🤍
It would be interesting to find apartheid-era footage from pre-1994 Soweto and compare it with the 2024 democracy era to assess the progress that has been made.
Well, my family has lived in soweto for 3 generations now, and I can say with confidence that it has improved the way more in the last 30 years. The old pictures of houses back then were depressing.

You need to do your research properly GO to Diepkloof Extention that's the expensive township in siweto
They didn't even go through the entire Protea Glen up until the last Extension
I wish they could plant more 🌳 🌲 🌴.
Me too 💚
And this is typically how a regular township looks like in South Africa. Soweto looks like my hood in Kzn.
Shout-out to Soweto. Continue to take care of your township ❤❤🎉🎉. South Africa is proud of You

Kenyan here. Soweto is indeed middle class. So nice to watch. Just add a little greenery
Protea North number 1 kasi!
Those who always say Soweto is a Slum they need to watch this.
Most Africans get disappointed when they truly see Soweto . It's not like the sum that they're used to to . Soweto is like their major suburbs
Jealousy of some Africans 😊
Those other Africans especially from West and Central Africa need to do better and stop blaming everything on the leaders.
Especially Wode Maya who said Soweto was the biggest slum in Africa
Or those who always say South Africans don't have land😂
