Ditto, I totally remember this. I saw the special at a time when I was just getting involved in choir and music, and one of my favorite bands was They Might Be Giants. The Bob's are so eclectic and have such an awesome sound! Thanks, interwebs, for catching me up with some memories!
THANK YOU . Have had a time finding this . Saw it on PBS 20+ years ago and the whole performance was wonderful. Does anyone now were I can by a CD of the original PBS show. It was literally a mind/life changing show. Hooked me on dance and a cappella . Hope to find a good cd for my nephew , he's young and it would be educational and FUN , for me too. Thanks again for the memory !
I had the pleasure of working the ISOBOBS performance in Denver at the Paramount Theater, back in the day. Fun show. There was one scary part for me. On the second night, I had to make a physical tape splice at intermission when the band decided to change things up. Most frightening moment ever as a sound engineer, "Will the splice hold"? Thankfully, it did.
I also remember and totally loved this. There was a song "Welcome to my Fog" that totally captured one of our kids. We taped it but unfortunately I loaned it to someone and it got lost. I have been looking ever since. I tried the link someone posted a few years ago. The site existed, but I never got a response to my request to order. Now the site is gone. Someone please find it!
@@thedevilinthecircuit1414 - No, they are lip syncing/singing with the tape. You can tell bc the audio is identical to the album. Also, you can hear several different filters put on lead voice between lines sometimes.

It was on The Lonesome Pine Specials. I've been trying to get a copy of that episode for decades.
