    Supporting 11 year old hardware seems like a nonsense to me. Its clear it holds back what could be done if they didnt have to take gen8 into account and the wasted dev effort to make them work could be better spent. This could also have a knock-on effect on minimum PC specs as well if theyre having issues squeezing everything into 8GB of console RAM, thats listed as min spec for PCs currently and consoles tend to be more efficient with RAM as theyre more focused. I'm still a bit salty that try as I might I can't get TSW5 running on my ZX81 😂

    • @trainsimulatordriver
      @trainsimulatordriver  2 дні тому +1

      Good luck running it in 8gb. You might manage one or two DLC loaded in that. I guess a difference between PC and console is PC will swap to disk. Technically means it can use less ram. Practically if that were to happen to you prepare for a nightmare. I notice the recommended is 16. Even that to my mind is low. I think those specs are for the base game, not the game with a collection of DLC.

    Everyone who plays TSW should be on Gen 9 or PC by now or they're missing out big time. I think DTG are finally starting to realize that Gen 8 is holding the game back and this is by far the biggest example of it.
    We know now that the upcoming TSW 5 gameplay pack wont even release for Gen 8 so I think they're about ready to cut support off entirely which will provide great benefits to the game in the long run and less time can be spent optimizing for these old machines.
    I predict TSW 5 will be the last game in the series to release for Gen 8.

      @@mikey9835 I do tend to agree, to get the best out of the game we need to cut off the older series of console and possibly lift the minimum PC specs too.

    • @trainsimulatordriver
      @trainsimulatordriver  10 годин тому

      Hi Elijah, yes it looks that this is going to be the case going forwards. I ran the game on an S at 1080p and it ran quite well. It struggles a bit on huge stations like Frankfurt but most of the time its great. Crashes were infrequent providing you manage how many DLC you have installed. I keep it at a maximum of 10 and it runs really well. This is usually enough for a route plus layers to keep it interesting. The only reason I went up to X is because I stream at 2K 1440p and the S could not do that. The X I run at full 4K and downsize it on the PC to 2K. I bought my S second hand so you could go down that path - be careful its not stolen if you do that because MS lock them.

    I have no console and have no clue how old the 8 is, but have to say: better throw it away, then to reduce all stuff for all others only to bring it to run on the low/slow/old systems. At the end its same with games generally, if someone want MSFS then a 10year old PC, with Vista or older , and craphic card will not help either to run the game properly or bring it to start.
    Weve seen it with Kinzigtalbahn: nice done route, but overall most/all console players cries about bad performance
    When people buy consoles because they are cheaper than a gaming pc, but cries at modern games that they will not work any longer --- then they should invest one time into a newer console that still is cheaper than a modern gaming pc.
