That song was my wife and I first dance, at our wedding... Best waltz ever, for that occasion ! Now we can't hear that song without falling into each others arms..
*edit* 12 years later. Metal head to the core. Still busting out a lil man cry when I listen this. You know that cry where you're kinda laughing but you can't catch your breathe so you just bow your head and giggle? Yep . That's the one!
Hahaha ye same although the samsung version sounds like absolute trash compared to this. I hate how adverts do cover versions of artists songs so they don't have to pay the artist as much.
I never heard it till I saw the commercial the melody was just so dreamy so I used Shazam on the commercial and a couple minutes later i found the best song I ever heard
Told someone I was with for 8 years that when we first got together. I’m less than dirt to her now and could care less if I didn’t wake up. BUT THAT BAR IS STILL PERFECT!!!! Just makes me cry now
My mom always liked my music whenever I would play it around the house and in the car, but she would never learn artists or songs, she just enjoyed it. However, this song instantly stuck out to her and she would always ask me to play it. Reminds me of her every time I hear it!
A TV commercial brought back some memories and I was like wait - I know this music. Shazamed it and was like OHHHH, I used to listen this on repeat :D Another song for our advent playlist xD
I found it. After three years of vaguely remembering incorrect lyrics and typing them into wherever I could, I found it. Thank you for answering my prayers, Genius Lyrics.
I used to listen to this song daily 9 years ago. And somehow I just forget about it, until now. I just spend the last 2 hours trying to remember the lyrics and even did stupid searches on Google like "song with violin and the drums intro". Glad that I found it again!!
Noticed this was used in a Best Buy/Samsung Christmas commercial and I'm hoping that a whole new generation of folks will be turned onto this AMAZING song ❤️ a Reese's commercial introduced me to it about 10 years ago 😊
shazam’d it from the best buy commercial and couldn’t believe they had chosen such a good song for a commercial haha. Ended up looking it up on youtube and found this amazing video
Agreed, he was so smooth now with that turn and transition! I love the way that he flows "edges are beaten driftwood whittled down" together. I've been playing that part on repeat for the last half hour, lol.
@@BreaktheTrend same. Used to listen to these guys and all of their friends in this video fairly often between 2008-2014. Miss this wholesome SF/Bay Area music scene.
I discovered this song after watching the movie “a case of you”. It is sang at the very end of the movie. That was in 2013. And since then I can’t stop listening to it. It is a masterpiece and gives so much positivity
This song.... I can't put it into words..... IM CRYING TEARS OF JOY!!!...... his voice......AAAAHHHHH...... the storyline..... JESUS CHRIST I FREAKIN LOVE THIS BAND SO MUCH!!!!
+Eugene Street I've been reading comments have heard about their name change I also have been reading mixed results about their new stuff but I'll for sure check them out
I’m with my girlfriend for almost 4 years now because of this song! We both loved it first time we talked and have been together since❤️Thank you-The Morning Benders 😭
365 people have no idea what they’re talking about. Anyone with a smidge of musical background can appreciate this. I’m so glad I listened to this again. We need more of this in 2020.
You tried to taste me And I taped my tongue to the southern tip of your body Our bones are too heavy to come up Squished into a single cell of wood I made an excuse You found another way to tell the truth I put no one else above us We'll still be best friends when all turns to dust Dum-da-dum Da-dum da-dum Da da-dum Da-dum da-dum Da dum Da da-dum We are so smooth now Our edges are beaten, drift wood whittled down Old bodies slip when they make love We'll mine our sparks to shoot us above
I only have one memory associated with this song. Sleeping at my grandparents house because my parents were out of town and there was a plumbing issue at my house. It’s an odd memory to associate with such a pretty song, but hey. Music is music
Still one of the most epic and special videos I've ever seen, and I was watching this 3 girlfriends and 2 cars ago haha. "We'll still be best friends when all turns to dust"
2020 & I found this again after struggling so hard to remember the name of the band only to see them listed in a Land of Talk performance 10 min ago. My nostalgic heart aches.
I remember first listening to this song as the intro to "The New Normal" series, and I was trying so hard to find it. Now I FINALLY did it. And after hearing the whole song, I felt complete. Still a banger after 13 years.
I choose to love you in loneliness, for in loneliness no one owns you but me. I choose to adore you from a distance, for distance will shield me from pain. I chose to kiss you in the wind, for the wind is gentler than my lips. I choose to hold you in my dreams, for in my dreams you have no end.
I heard this for the first time yesterday, I fell in love with it and was shocked that a guy who can barely speak two damn sentences in a minute was capable of singing like that.
Man, the nostalgia. This session is still special, crazy it’s been 10 years. Anyone know where to find Big Echo (and any MB album for that matter) on vinyl?
I listened to this on 2010 and I had a serious issue while trying to remember who played this back in the days, so I read all my conversation history that I had with my BFF and GOSH! Worth IT!
Happened to me. Each time I tried to recall who this song and the live recording was by, I would always think it was The Airborne Toxic Event, although I could never find the song in their discography. Until I stumbled upon my own post of this song on FB from a decade ago and finally had the joy of listening to Excuses by The Morning Benders again.
This would have to be one of my favourite songs of all time. It has a special spot in my heart. This is an incredible recording, what I would give to have been in that room!
I think that the method of recording with a large group of people is BEAUTIFUL. It must be so uniting and exhilarating being all scrunched into a smallish recording studio with all those people making music. Thank you, The Morning Benders, for your beautiful music and words :) Your music fills my whole being with joy!
Its like a musical version of Apple Pie and Ice Cream. And then the ice cream runs out before the pie....but then someone gives you a whole new scoop of ice cream to finish. Its that good!
How could I forget this song... I remember listening like 10 years ago as a teenager, almost 30 now still etches in my brain. I'll dance to this song at my wedding. Such a wonderful performance.
I listen to this song once a day...I have for the past year. It keeps me sane, gives me hope, reminds me of the beautiful things left in this world. Love everything about this masterpiece.

It really is beautiful

If God strolled through a park humming a tune, this would qualify to be the one.
#TRUTH
Still one of the greatest recordings of all time

I remembered because I'll never forget the name of their other band POP ETC
I googled "da dum da dum asian singer taste me" Lol
I remembered "Big Echo" for some reason even though it's not in the title only the description, and searched it in my UA-cam history

My wife and I used this version of the song as out exit song from the ceremony. Great song!
as soon as the beat came back after the chorus, sounds so good when he comes in with "we are so smooth now"
Agreed💚👏
Agreed, he was so smooth now with that turn and transition! I love the way that he flows "edges are beaten driftwood whittled down" together. I've been playing that part on repeat for the last half hour, lol.

That base part! This is what happens when a perfect amount of great musicians come together.

There isn't another song like this, it's amazing
There is a whole decade with music like this. He has he was inspired by Phil Specter. Look it up.
+Eugene Street true that

And I taped my tongue to the southern tip of your body
Our bones are too heavy to come up
Squished into a single cell of wood
I made an excuse
You found another way to tell the truth
I put no one else above us
We'll still be best friends when all turns to dust
Dum-da-dum
Da-dum da-dum
Da da-dum
Da-dum da-dum
Da dum
Da da-dum
We are so smooth now
Our edges are beaten, drift wood whittled down
Old bodies slip when they make love
We'll mine our sparks to shoot us above

Almost 10 years since I heard this beautiful tune and I keep returning here from time to time just to remember there's still beauty in this world.
I find this so much more beautiful than the album version :3
I first heard this song on the final scene of the film A case of you. It's a ball dance. Been hooked since then!
I wish I could've been there. Not to see the performance, but to convince Christopher Owens to keep Girls together.
I'm not a hipster, but I would loooove to go there. Who doesn't this is great music
Trying it this friday with 20 friends!
Still Goosebumps everytime I listen this after how many years🎼🎵🎶

This truly never gets old, if not better every time...
I came here at 2010 after watching Sony Bravia ad and now after 10 years it's me again here. Feeling attached ❤️
Its like a musical version of Apple Pie and Ice Cream. And then the ice cream runs out before the pie....but then someone gives you a whole new scoop of ice cream to finish. Its that good!
This song has really been getting me through high school
This really reminds me of Pre-British invasion Rock in the very early 1960's.
