My Daughter is 32 and because of myself and her stepdad, she loves old furniture. She grew up with our house that was built in the later 1800’s. It had a tavern which I opened as a tea shop. I made all my own teas and desserts. I used all vintage teapots and cups. This is when she got a love for old furniture and glassware.
Absolutely. Nothing frustrates me more than sellers who know NOTHING about what they're selling and almost expect the buyers to educate them. Especially on Whatnot🙄
I have collected christening gowns for many years. Machine made lace was exported from Switzerland in 1860's. Have the same thoughts as you ladies, believe that to be a christening ensemble. Being mostly all handmade, called love clothes because of the time involved in making. I would snap this up in a heartbeat if lived closer. Many warmer climates made an 18 inch skirt version length. Love his videos❤. Have a blessed days.
My grandfather was a rockhound. He & my grandmother traveled all over the world rock hounding. One of my favorite memories from my childhood was working out in the shop with him. He’d let me use his tumbler to polish rocks, etc. He made beautiful opal jewelry, along with other stones. I was always in awe of his crystal & rock collection. I wish I would’ve asked more questions back then because it’s such a fascinating thing to do, but I was only six or seven years old. Anyway, I loved that you showcased the rocks & crystals. Thank you! xo
I love listening to your comments about the items you see. Your channel is informative and your voice is so easy to listen to. Hope to meet you someday. Thank you for doing this work.
Thank you, George! I found a Roseville Donatello vase quite awhile ago not knowing what it was (before I learned about Google lens) and picked it up for $2.99 because despite 2 chips and a small hairline crack, it was just so interesting. I grabbed it but held onto it because of what you spoke on regarding seller's responsiblity to be knowledgeable about their items. With the damage, I won't make a huge profit, but I'll now be able to accurately describe it.
Your knowledge always amazes me. Some of those Victorian pieces are stunning. I especially loved the hand painted lamp shade with stand. I thought the price was great. Also that small cabinet in the same booth was gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. I look forward to everyone of your videos. You never disappoint.😊
Another great video such a variety of ‘fancy’ stuff I love the look of a pop of fancy in a more restrained decor And as always the depth of your knowledge never fails to astound
I LOVE hearing/watching your videos. So much information, given with generosity in dulcet tones. Thank you so much for all you share with us, Mr Antiques Nomad :)
I agree about the price of new bedding. Chenille is such a great way to go for placing over an older chair or as a topper. It is hard to find queen & king sizes, however you could layer it to work. Thank you for another informative video, George!🩷
I have to admit I do launder my linens....soaking them isn't all that difficult and I've restored some badly stained linens that will fetch much more money than before.
Hi George, binge watching your videos this morning & thank you for the knowledge transfer. I always learn from you & your extensive experience. So much fun!

What a beautiful shop your friends have. I love all the pretty, but the Roseville Futura is my dream. A foot! of snow here in PDX, can not believe it. Very cold and foggy though, so not a nice sunny snow, lol.
Your knowledge is encyclopedic George. I always appreciate your channel for that. There are some that call things they aren't, throwing a lot into Art Nouveau or something. We get a lot of dealers in the EAPGS group wanting an ID, for pieces from last half of the 20th century. Knowledge really is power.
George I love the turquoise colored glassware in picture they are really pretty I'm kind of partial to turquoise color, I saw so many pretty things in there but my house is full of stuff right now and I'm past the age of still collecting and my kids don't like anyting I have!!!
I've been saying the exact same thing about 80s Santa Fe style. It's been pretty much forgotten, but I could see it coming back. As a dealer it's kind of frustrating because there is so much out there that will come back at some point, but no point in investing in it because you just don't know exactly when that will be. Sadly, I pass up stuff I actually like but just isn't valuable yet. I just saw a 1980s catalog of companies that designed or wholesaled Santa Fe style. Thanks to this video, I'm now regretting that I didn't pick it up. :/
Love this video it is important to know what you are selling to you customers, thank you for stressing this. Had this happen to me afew years ago and the seller was not nice about it
Good evening, George! That Victorian opera lamp was really pretty. That seemed a good price on it. I liked that chair next to the lamp, too. I have a water set in the green, of the U. S. Glass "Delaware" pattern, like was in the vitrine. I would've had to have bought that Bristol vase. At $16.00, I wouldn't have been able to pass it. I really like Bristol glass. I have a complete set of the Wade nursery rhyme pieces. I display them in an old printer's drawer hung on the wall, along with quite a number of old wood spools that still have the thread on them. The old wood spools, with the thread still on, makes a nice colourful display. I liked that goat "Bucking In" mug. I'd like to have an older AH "Rings" beverage set. I'm not too fond of ice lips on pitchers. I liked that walnut surround pin cushion. Loved that mermaid clock! I'd move something to place that one! I've always wanted one of those wood butter churns. You were SPOT ON with what you said about knowing your stuff! I loved that blue pitcher, with the floral pattern, on the shelves with the old photos. Jewel Antique Mall looks to be a fantastic place to shop! Thanks for the take-a-long!!!

Hi there! Vaseline (yellow-green) art glass of the Victorian era sold for more because they liked the color. 1930s depression green glass was inexpensive new, a lot of basic pieces were even given away free. 1970s-on vaseline glass, Fenton custard, etc. was made to be collected and was more expensive.

The little girl's outfit at 16:00 looks like a christening outfit
Hi just thought to point out the item you called little girls dress for Easter in the frame on the wall was a Baptism gown for boy or girl baby.
16:20: Considering the size of the shoes this seems to be more likely a christening gown for girls or even boys.
I agree wholeheartedly with passing on as much information as you can about things to collectors.

Always interesting and informative. Thank you.
