That's awesome! We've heard from some people that it's really pretty with the waterfalls and more water in general running through the valley, so we'll have to do it again in a different season
Thanks for taking us along on your trip. I hiked that same route in 1975 and the whole enchanted valley area was a meadow with grass and low bushes and the Elk would graze the grass and drink from the creek. They walked right by our tent. The river rock area was only about 30 to 50 feet wide. So much of the Valley is now just river bed. Must have been some major flooding from the melting of Anderson Glacier. Yes it is not nearly as beautiful as it was when it got its name so long ago. It was still very beautiful in the 1970s.
Wow it sounds like it was way more enchanting back in the 70's! I wish I could have seen it back then, I would've actually been able to put my long lens to use with all the wildlife 😂
Visit in May and June, you'll see many bears and likely the Elk herd. Late summer all the wildlife moves to the high country. Everything is so green and many waterfalls are roaring during this time . August and September it's definitely not near as impressive. Thanks for the video, good job.
It makes sense that early season would be very pretty in there. We had heard the bears were up at O'Neil Pass area so we just ended up going to the wrong area to see them on this trip. We'll have to go again in spring!
@@SummitForWellness I hope you do go back in spring, it really is amazing then. I even witnessed some small avalanches there in May one time, pretty cool.
Went in mid May after snow was not on trail and it was majestic. I could see going through in fall to make it over Anderson Pass to the other side and get some fall colors.
When you went in May, were there a bunch of waterfalls in the valley? I would assume the stream running through the valley is way more full that time of year as well?
Wow what a difference. We usually head up in April in the pouring cold rain. Ton of waterfalls from there all the way to the largest hemlock tree, if you can get there because of snow. We saw 12 bear and probably 50 elk last time up, two years ago. Love those fall colors though.
It definitely sounds like we need to go back in Spring or early Summer. I wish we had gone a week or 2 later for even better Fall colors but then the weather would've been a lot worse!
I just went there in early April. The valley is full of running water and it is truly magical. Wanted to hike to Anderson pass, but it is too snowy. The amount of snow in ONP this year is about 60% average. It will be pretty dry in late season, possibly a lot of wild fire as well.
It definitely seems like early season is the best time to go! So the valley was snow-free already huh? Things are going to dry up way too early this year...
I hiked Enchanted Valley in September of 2023 and LOVED it.

People playing music at 6:30 in the morning!?!?! WTF!!! 🤬
Isn't that awesome?! Such a great way to wake up in the middle of nowhere.. 😂
6 out of 10? My Olympics?…..6 out of 10? I’m gonna go ahead and guess you’re from California maybe?
Born and raised in Washington actually. Olympics are great but nothing like the North Cascades or Alpine Lakes Wilderness!
