    As always, enjoy your videos. We were out there on Father’s Day weekend and it was a madhouse. The Ranger estimated that over a hundred people were saddled between Pyrites and Anderson Pass with the majority in the Valley. It looks way more chill on your trip. Anyhow, I’m rambling but really appreciate the information and being proactive getting others out on the trails. Olympic NP is awesome!

      Thanks for watching. This area can get quite popular in the warmer months. This is why I like to visit earlier in the season. Way less crowds and the chances of scoring a permit are much, much easier.

    I’m just getting interested in backpacking. Your group hikes have encouraged me to start trying this activity. I would be the woman in the last position and it’s so encouraging to see that people of all fitness levels can do this.

    Oh my gosh! I’ve been following you for quite some time and have watched most of your videos. I was in the Enchanted Valley at the same time! We were camping in the woods, and I walked practically through your campsite and I thought how fun that a whole group of women were there together. I would have been so excited to meet you! What a great weekend it was there! You guys left on Sunday, but we stayed one more night. Can’t wait to go back!

      That's crazy! You should've come said hi. I always have stickers to hand out to people who recognize me out on trail. Hope you had a great trip. It was quite busy on the way out on Sunday so you're lucky you got to stay Sunday night.

    Your videos are very educational and informative, even for someone who has been backpacking for over 50 years. I tried your food cozy this weekend while in Enchanted Valley and it worked great! There's always a new tip or trick.

    Great detailed email this morning and a beautiful video of your groups trip together thank you…. oh and P.S the bears would have been a little scary for me! 😂🎒🥾🍃

    • @TheHungryHiker
      @TheHungryHiker  Рік тому +1

      Glad you enjoyed the video! As for the bears, Enchanted Valley is known for its wildlife sightings. If you have a fear of seeing bears out on trail, I highly recommend doing this one with a group. After the first 3 bears you see out on trail, you won't be as scared of them as you were when you left the trailhead. Just be Bear Aware while you're out there, make plenty of noise and give them plenty of space. Fun Fact: This is the trail where I was able to overcome my fear of seeing bears out in the backcountry a few years ago.

    Question for anyone... I am flying in to hike (3 nights) enchanted valley in July. Currently I am planning to rent a car and leave at trailhead but seems like a waste. Anyone have transportation ideas? I will need to store a carry on somewhere also while I am on trail. Is there lockers anywhere for this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Great breakdown of gear. You do know you can dry out wet wipes and then add H20 when ready to use.😊

    • @TheHungryHiker
      @TheHungryHiker  Рік тому +1

      That's certainly an option, but that also means you need to take the time to dry out the wet wipes and then pack them up. Plus, they're still going to be bigger and heavier than packing in the Portawipes, but you do you!

    Thank you for another great video, packed with great information! I am still planning a couple weeks of my time off and this is definitely going on the “research this one” list!
    I have one question for you that wasn’t answered in the video… you mentioned waymarking a campsite you’d like to stay at next trip. Can you share the name of the camping area share additional information about how it would fit into a multi-day backpacking trip into this area? Thanks I’m advance for any help!

    • @TheHungryHiker
      @TheHungryHiker  Рік тому +1

      The campsite I mentioned that I created a waypoint for doesn't have a name and was one of the other campsites I was eyeballing while we were staying in Enchanted Valley. The spot is still considered park of the Enchanted Valley campsite area, just hidden from the chalet and other sites located closer to the river and privies. Good luck and happy trip planning!

    I first backpacked to Enchanted Valley in April 1972. I hiked solo and had to deal with snow and avalanche debris. I hiked in to the Chalet and camped on the back porch. At that time I could drive over the bridge for 2 miles. Then drop a 1/2 mile to Pony Bridge. Of course, that was over 50 years ago.

    Is late April too early to do this trip?

    • @TheHungryHiker
      @TheHungryHiker  7 місяців тому +1

      It depends on what kind of trip you want to have and what type of conditions you feel comfortable hiking and backpacking in. Something to keep in mind is that in April, this area will most likely still be covered in snow. Also, access to the trailhead along the forest service road could be impacted by downed trees and other winter weather damage. If you're prepared to hike and backpacking this area in snow, then late April could be a possibility for you.
