    One of the most complete stereo kits I have ever seen.
    And cheap too!

      Exactly! I caught it on an Amazon lightning sale for around $27USD delivered, and for the money I was very impressed!

    I sold my little XA. I will miss her and the great gas mileage but living in the mountains a car like that isn’t useful except rides to town.

      I have a Yaris and an XA. The Yaris will push snow up a mountain. The Yaris kinda just sits there. Lol, I should drive more but I enjoy the Yaris too much.

    hey well done ! could you just explain how to connect the wires . still comfused about the colors

    • @the710experiment84
      @the710experiment84  4 роки тому

      With the adapter I used it was a very simple wiring job. All you have to do is color match from the radio to the adapter. There were a few wires that weren't used and instead of taping them off and letting them dangle behind the radio to rattle in the dash I un-pinned them from the plug.

    Nice job....let me ask a novice type question. First...your link to Amazon no longer works so I have to ask here. 1.) I see many of these for sale....what size unit did you buy?....are there dimensions listed?..or do I try to find something just by measuring the old unit? Various suppliers call this out as 7" or 9" or whatever size but don't give X and Y dimensions. 2.) Would like a unit that is simply a radio and GPS. Is this what you have? If so, how would that work?...would I need a wireless linkage to my cell's GPS or what?...a subscription service instead?....I have no idea but would like a stand-alone system as much as possible. Thanks.

      The radio was a simple 7" unit that fits a standard 2din hole. The model I bought was the cheapest of the cheap I got on a lightning deal, and it wasn't the best radio. It was supposed to screen mirror and basically project the phones GPS on the screen, but that function apparently wasn't compatible with my phone.
      There are companies that make much better head units with all the functions you want, but they can be very costly. I've seen them from $500-1500usd. As much as I like Amazon I'll probably be buying my radios/head units from sonicelectronix or Crutchfield from here out.

    The link isn't ood anymore. The size you bought looks right. Do you remember what size it was? The stock is like 4"x8" lol I know it wasn't that.

    Nice job. Just did the same on a 2006 scion with an Android radio. Also did backup camera and hooked up steering wheel controls (2006 xa only), couldn't figure out how to hook up the tweeters though, as only 4 speaker connections?? Did you?
    Also did a remote keyless for $16 , easy to do and well with it.

    • @the710experiment84
      @the710experiment84  4 роки тому

      Mine is an 04 xA so I don't have the fancy steering wheel, but I actually bought one of the cheap keyless entry systems to install as well as a few other parts for the car.

      @@the710experiment84 12 V tap and parking light tap (green wire in connector at base of HL switch-brown wires go here) are right under the bottom steering wheel cover-3 screws.
      2 yellows and black are grounded. I tapped the lock and unlock white wires into the brown/white and green/white wires at left foot kick panels. Factory alarm L/U wires were already tapped here but I could never get the remotes to work.

    How do I use a carplay wirelessly with that touchscreen radio?

    • @the710experiment84
      @the710experiment84  7 місяців тому

      With that model it only had screen mirroring, and it had to be wired in order to work. To be honest it wasn't a great radio, but for under 40 bucks it worked ok.

    He confused me at the end.
    So if I install a touchscreen on a scion Xa 2005.
    It won't fit ??
    What exactly was he doing at the end with that little saw trimmer.

    The original pioneer stereo sucks on my car cds get stuck and the volume to turn down also gets stuck .

      L0cd 0ut the problem I had was I ordered a cheap universal install kit and it took a lot of customization to get it to fit properly. I’m sure there’s a better kit out there but I was doing it all for under 50USD

    Do your tail lights work? Because i tried this and the tail light fuse kept burning out when i turned on the lights,also tried the other way around and when i turned on the lights the radio would turn off

      Yes the taillights all work properly. It sounds like you've crossed some wires while installing the radio and have a few circuits grounded out.

    • @Noobdiscovery

      But it is gonna work on a manual transmission car ?

    • @the710experiment84
      @the710experiment84  4 роки тому

      Absolutely it’ll work on a manual transmission. The camera picks up signal from the reverse sensor on the transmission (auto or manual). It’s the same sensor that sends power to the backup lights in the tail lights, and some people wire the camera signal wire into the reverse light because it’s easy to find the wire there.

      I’ll say cheeping out on the correct installation parts wasn’t the best call I’ve ever made, but it wasn’t the most difficult part installation I’ve ever done before either.
