Just got this Cannabis Rex and its Celestion 'clone' the Hempback.
Mics used were a Sennheiser MD421 and T.Bone R100 (cheap Royer R121 copy).
Guitar used: Harley Benton SC-550 II

Picked up a 120w cannabis rex a few years back (someone removed it from a Henrikson amp). I like it so well, I picked up 2 12” eminence wheelhouse hemp coned neo-mag 150w/speaker. All three sound awesome (the total wattage of 420 purely circumstantial 🥸🤓)

Nice comparison! I liked the Cannabis Rex a bit better because I prefer scooped sounds instead of the more present mids of the Hempback.

Thanks! Yeh they both sound nice in the room, a mixed 2x12 or 4x12 would work nicely with them.

nice one mate. I'm looking for a replacement of my hempdog (my new amp doesn't like it), but it sounded great with my Peavey Invective to go with my DV-77.

I already have a Cannabis Rex i am happy with in a cab.
I am thinking of puting the hempback in a 30watts valve amp. A Marshall copy that sound good but way too bright, straight and harsh. It was made in Laboga factories i think.
Are the 50watts of the Hempback enough?
Does it break-up/crunch a bit late like the cannabis Rex ?
Otherwise i was thinking of the Eminence Hempdog. Are the 150watts of this speaker useful in some ways?

They both have different mid valleys, from what I can hear.
So they are not the same. But they both have thier uses.

Indeed. I think I prefer the Hempback but they will probably blend pretty well too!

I think the hempback has a nice lower mids hump.

Eminence has it signature clarity in the high mids. Celestion sounds dull (in comparison). I like both really

More clarity in the Eminence. They are pretty similar though.

I preferred the Hempback on my cell phone speaker. I like a warmer mid forward tone and the Hempback had it.
