      In 2002 we brought my mother-in-law from Vietnam to California for a visit. It was her first time traveling outside of Vietnam and took her to Costco. She walked in, stopped, looked all around and had tears in her eyes.

    As an american AND a Walmart associate/employee this type of video remindes me of how lucky I am to be an american and work for a really good company like Walmart. I work in one of the distribution centers. The pay is really good and with good insurance and other benefits. It amazes me to see people blown away because we have gallon jugs of milk. Unreal.

      the cheer size and varity is the difference mostly.
      also a lot from the US would be restricted by EU laws.
      From what americans mostly use in their food and products.
      What I do have to say about america is the nice thing of the varity for people that are allergic and such.
      but how they said "this is why they are so obese", cringe?
      How they where amazed by things and being vegan for most likely certain reasons was just funny.

      It's not just Walmart. Regional chains have been doing it ages before Walmart became big. Although adding to what you said, Milk (or something else of high value like soda) are usually in the back. the stores are designed to make it as easy as possible to make the shopper do a full circuit around the store before leaving. maximizing how much money per customer per visit they make.

      MooseT Im sure theyre jealous of the weekly school/church/hospital/workplace shootings. Cant even go to a festival anymore without concern. America is so acclimated to it now. Day after a shooting its "our thoughts and prayers" the next day its a politician saying "Its Americans right to carry a gun" then the cycle starts over the next week. Last week was the NM school shooting and literally it was only news for a day. Literally a day now no one even remembers.

    I've commented here before, but I think where foreigners get confused about our packaging sizes and whatnot is that Americans tend to buy in bulk so that we don't have to go to the store every day. About once a week is the usual grocery run. We can do this because our fridges and freezers are much larger than what you'll find in Europe.

    I have seen now several of these First time Walmart trips from both our Aussie and British friends I find them quite entertaining . They seem to be like children in a candy store. Excitement wise. If there are any potential tourist reading my comment I have noticed on a few of them that the Walmart pizza seems to attract them. Please don't buy them you'll be disappointed they are not very good. They will fill you up if your hungry but they really are not a very good quality. Those little pies these ladies found are quite good though. And don't forget to add about 10% for taxes the prices marked on the shelf does not include tax unless your in Florida. In Florida food is tax exempt but the prices seem to be a bit higher not much though

That's a slice of Real America. I've got every state four times over as well as Canada. I live a short drive away from the Arizona-Mexican border. New Mexico and Texas has probably the best Hole-in-the wall Mexican eateries to be found. You'll be instantly Yankee-ized! The UK treated me like a King. Ireland stole my heart!! Cheers!

    I have to admit, though it was just shopping, I really enjoyed watching you enjoy your 1st Walmart experience, like kids in a candy store. Made me laugh. Kudos to you three for taking a mundane shopping experience and having so much fun with it. Now try Cosco...you will be blown away at the sheer volume!

    You ladies give us Yanks a new perspective on Wal Mart with your excitement. Wise to stay away from the "stodgy" stuff. Some advice--when you're in America or any Spanish-speaking country, you never say "tor-TILL-uhs", it's tor-TEE-yahs. You're all too posh for the average Yank Wal Mart shopper. Also, the chilis in the bag are meant to be used in cooking, not to be eaten right out of the bag like they were sweets.

    For everyone not for the USA, Walmart is not a supermarket lol. We have separate supermarkets (some of us call them grocery stores). Walmart is technically a department store.

    • @usafvet100
      @usafvet100 6 років тому

      kellya71 I'm not sure how many, if any, dept store only Wal Marts there are. Starting in the 1980s, they began transitioning to Super Centers, which have separate areas for grocery and dept store items. Neighborhood Markets are a more recent phenomenon, they sell groceries only. Some smaller towns will also have a Wal Mart Express, sort of a mini Wal Mart. Then of course there are Sam's Clubs for buying in bulk.

    My dad used to moonlight driving a charter bus. He had a group of people from India back in the late 90's. About 30 people. He loaded up the bus and started to take them to the hotel when someone spotted a WalMart. They went NUTS. Everyone wanted to stop. They had heard about them but had never seen one, apparently. My dad waited with the bus. They spent....7.....hours..... in WalMart. It was like an amusement park to them. He said that they completely filled up the cargo hold and all of the empty seats and luggage racks. They came out with 30 packs of toilet tissue, socks, underwear, shoes, soap, deodorant, giant packs of snacks and candy, clothes, tools...anything you could imagine but the toiletries and paper products seemed to be the biggest hit. He said it was like watching a group school kids coming back from Disney World. He wasnt exactly sure how they intended to get all of that home on an airplane but they were happy.
    Foreigners always get so excited to see WalMart. I havent set foot in one in years. lol

    Vegan? You might as well flush your HEALTH down the toilet. Veganism is responsible for so many unhealthy people in the world who die early because they are not getting much needed nutrients. Stop being Vegan in order to save your own health and life.

    • @Uhoriah

      I’m not vegan, and i’m aware this is an old comment, but many people can be vegan and vegetarian without any worries about insufficient nutritions. In fact, if they are knowledgeable on what they eat, they can have health benefits us meat eaters don’t have. Also, some people become vegan or vegetarian due to health reasons, not because they necessarily want to.

    What walmart doesn't sell gets piled together with discards from the other markets. All of that bread, donuts, cereals, sweets, and a little bit of nutritional goods is doled out to the poor at food banks. Remember that when you see the poor fat person struggling to walk.

    • @sicdavid6292
      @sicdavid6292 6 років тому

      A vast majority of the 40% of food that gets tossed is because of the appearance. Because there is no government subsidies to transport the unattractive food to food banks and schools it goes into landfills. Nowadays laws don't get passed without a kickback. Who's around to pay for this one?

    As an American guy this video just cracks me up. I remember the first time I went to England I was about 25 and I loved "bangers and mash." Seriously, as a guy their can be nothing better than sausage and potatoes. However, I remember one day walking around London and I was starving. Went into a pub, looked at the menu and saw something called "plowman's lunch" i believe. Anyhow, I figured a plowman's lunch had to be extremely hearty so I ordered it. Was a piece of bread with a hunk of cheese. WTF! Only meal I've ever eaten without meat.
