It's really sad you can't get kicked off steam just by harassing consumers nah you have to literally break the law to get noticed by valve. That's disappointing I guess the "report button" is just cosmetic and doesn't do anything
You have to have someone other than valve notice that you broke the law, as seen here. Valve doesn't give a shit about people violating their own terms of service.
Steam is a monopoly on the PC side of gaming. They WON'T bother with quality control because they have almost no legitimate competition. The only thing that will fix Steam would be a real competitor geniuinely threatening to take away Steam's costumers.
In other news, grass is green, water is wet, and fire burns. Seriously. I knew this shit would fail from the start because I knew how fucking incompetent Valve was at moderating any goddamn thing. This was like watching a trainwreck in slow motion, basically.
No, that would actually be more interesting. At least the trainwreck in slow mo would be interesting as you get to see the details. But Jadow's video is still fun regardless.
You forgot to mention another problem, I'm sure you have noticed by now that most if not all of the achievements from achievement spammer games have icons for each letter of the alphabet and numbers and characters on the keyboard, this is so people can use them in sequence to spell out words in a "cool manner" but this also allows the more dickish of Steams user base can use them in sequence to bypass a number of policies in forums and comment sections by spelling offensive words pretending it's a showcase. To be fair I don't usually go to comment sections on steam but this is what I've heard, I could be wrong, just thought it would be worth mentioning that achievement spammers are causing other issues, granted the whole idea of these achievements are more to do with the fact that developers are too lazy to come up with icons for each achievement and think it's easier to just type each one out to get them released faster. Steam Direct everybody! Great video but I do wish Steam would silence this garbage.
All we need is a worthy competitor (as in one that mirrors Steam in terms of overall aesthetics) and within time, Steam will become the gaming equivalent to MySpace.
Hey Jadow, if you ever need ideas for future videos, here are some suggestions: HAZE. It's a PS3 exclusive FPS developed by Free Radical, the same people who made timesplitters. Prior to its release, Haze was hyped up to be "the Halo killer", as in the PS3 game that's so good, it will put the Xbox flagship franchise to shame. You can predict what happened in the end... LEGENDARY: THE BOX. This game has an awesome concept for a video game. In modern times, Pandora's box has been discovered and accidentally released, unleashing a torrent of mythological creatures upon the modern landscape. The only hope for mankind lies in the hands of Deckhard, that's the main character, who has the power of Pandora's box infused into his left hand. This concept is sadly wasted with a painfully dull and mediocre shooter that somehow makes fighting the damn Kracken boring. If you're going to play it, try getting the console port. The PC port suffers from a game breaking glitch. STAR FOX ADVENTURES. This game is infamous in the Star Fox franchise because it is not like the other games, but it is instead an underrated action adventure title that's more in tune with Legend of Zelda than Star Fox. It was even developed by Rare as well. Well, that's all I have for now.
Haze especially makes me angry because it was developed by the amazing Free Radical Development. The guys who made TimeSplitters, one of the best console shooters ever made. And the company was made up of people who made fucking _Goldeneye 64 and Perfect Dark._ Fuck Haze.
I H A T E achievement hunter games, I much prefer to get them legit, though on rare occasions and/or with mis-timing you will get an achieve through broken game mechanics, bugs, system errors etc
I am pretty sure Valve made the math something like this: one okay game could generate like a couple of grand - MAYBE. But 50 shit games will get you GUARANTEED 5K. Much better.
I'm not surprised in the slightest that Direct went the way it did. That said, I'm not happy about it. What were they thinking? Keep it up, J. You're doing your chosen deity's work.
15:10 You can disable that, though. You can go into Windows and disable all the sticky keys/filter keys/whatever hotkeys so they don't trigger anything.
I have a better idea for getting indie titles onto Steam. Here's how I think it should work: Valve should have people play test games before they can even be considered for entry to the storefront. The play testing would reveal if the game is fun, isn't an asset flip, and isn't an overall bullshit title. This would be a good form of quality control. And honestly, that really is all there needs to be. I don't see why Valve can't have employees (or even random gamers) play test games that come through Greenlight to see if they aren't shit or not.
Firepowerx31 Thanks! I have one review that's been stuck in development hell due to writer's block. I will try to finish it. Either way, Superman Shadow of Apokalips is next.
B.C. Rivers The New Zombitatos is literally the same game as the old Zombitatos I already reviewed, only with a slideshow as a bonus feature. I played it- decided it didn't need to take up space with its own video.
Darklordjadow1 out of curiosity, how many reviews do you plan ahead? I don't mean scripts, I mean do you plan a couple of reviews ahead or do you decide what's next during the work on whichever one your doing at the time?
You know I never considered why so many indie games have been popping up on the xbox store recently. Well with steam the way it is currently I can certainly see why.
You know, I'm not an achievement hunter. But aren't achievements supposed to be something you're proud of, something you've earned? It's not really much of an achievement if you get it by just letting the game run.
And here I thought Steam couldn't get any crappier. It's like Steam hit rock bottom with Greenlight, and Direct went and got that giant excavator from Arkham Knight and went DEEPER! Also, that board in fidget spinner simulator? That's actually a thing. It's called a hoverboard. It's a meme too. It's just as dumb as you think it is.
I already commented on this video a year ago, but I have to say this about your comment on people going to the XBone and Switch, while avoiding the PS4: as a PS4 owner, I feel a little insulted that the PlayStation Stores reputation is so bad that NO ONE wants to give it a chance with good indie games (I'm not saying I feel insulted by what you said, please don't think that). Essentially, this means that if you want to play some actually good indie games, you have to fork over hundreds of dollars for a completely different console, then shell out even more money for the game itself. People just do not have the money to do that. So for indie games, the XBox and the Switch owners are given great indie titles, while pointing at the poor PS4 and flexing their wealth while going "we get good indie games and you don't! Neener Neener Neener!". Can someone PLEASE throw the PS4 a bone and give it a good indie game?
Executor Mctom It's listed with the dark side of steam vids. The entire reason I touched on Zombitatos was I wanted to use the "he drinks bleach" title card for Steam Direct.
Always nice to see that people actually pay attention to this travesty. Like your videos, too. Not nice that Valve doesn't seem to notice this Steam situation. And as starting game dev, this whole Steam situation doesn't put me (actually us) at ease. We'll probably look for some other place to release the game, even though two of games from Touhou series which we like appeared on Steam.
Apparently, another thing you have to do to get removed off Steam Direct is actually threaten to kill Gabe Newell. The people behind Paranautical Activity figured this out the hard way when Mike Mulderbeck got homicidally angry at Gabe because it was listed as an Early Access game. Now, the game is available on Switch, but it was taken off Steam after the death threat. It was even given over to a different developer who even added more into the game. Paranautical Activity is actually a pretty good yet tough shooter roguelike, but how good it was before Mike was fired is anyone's guess.
A year later and this is still just as accurate. Valve really doesn't care unless the law is involved. If Artifact wasn't the final nail to show what Valve is today, then I don't know what is.
Remember day 1 garrys incident? That was during the very start of all this. Sure it was a broken garbage of a game, but you could see SOME effort put into it. We thought it couldn't get any worse. Then Digital Homicide came around and caused a HUGE shitestorm of terrible. How could it get any worse then this we ask? Zonitron....
I submitted a better game for the first year module of my game design course, having never used unity before and having only a month or two on and off between classes to work on it than most of these titles. It was short, I never figured out how to make more complicated sounds than, you touch object, collision triggers singular sound file... and it used an unmodified art pack cause I can't draw and don't have an artist and it was a test of our coding anyway... but again, it was still better than this stuff. The controls worked, the enemies AI while super simplistic worked and you couldn't fall through the map or walk off of it. I checked.
So Steam Direct has apparently gotten even worse, as Valve just admitted they're now going to let literally any game on Steam as long as it doesn't break the law...
Well, too bad the people involved with doing this don't know the law, since it took Cartoon Network to tell them what the law is to kick Birdeyev off of Steam.
Hello my friend. My goodness it's been so long. How have you been? Hope your Christmas and New Years was a good one. Is Iffy doing well? I hope so. Such is the changes that have befallen us that we can't chat as much as we used too. Life gets in our way. But that's what happens y'know? So Steam Direct is basically the same as Steam Greenlight.....only worse. This really does worry me about the future of game development. This only encourages people who are dishonest to continue their ways instead of showcasing people who work hard and dedicate themselves to making their game great.
It has been a long time; I apologize for not chatting with you. I need to get better about procrastination. Iffy has had a rough couple of months and our relationship seems a rocky at the moment. I'm hoping a weekend together starts to mend it. How are you doing? How are Helen and Baby Rose? (I really hope I got her name right) Exactly; Steam Greenlight was an ineffective barrier to entry, but it was still a barrier. Now nothing stops assholes from flooding the store. All we can hope is that indies continue to flee the store for greener pastures and Valve eventually wakes up and realizes their mistake.
Hey there. Sorry I did not get back to you straight away. Please don't apologize. I'm guilty of that as well. I have been so busy, I just have not had time to sit down and try and chat with you. I should try and make time though. You are my buddy after all. :) Oh dear, I hope everything is alright with you two. Remember, there will be rocky moments, but that is the test. You gotta deal with those rocky moments if you want your relationship to blossom don't you know? Helen and I had our rough patches with each other, it was not always a rose garden for us. Hang in there man, don't throw in the towel. Helen and Rose are doing great, yes you got her name right. Helen is getting back into the swing of things slowly, but she's pretty happy. Some days she's a bit testy, but all is good. :) Rose is growing up so fast, she's already crawling and is starting to get into mischief. She's a curious little thing, keeps me on my toes. I do think eventually something will give, but will it be people's faith in Valve?
Well you have a good excuse to be too busy; you have a family to take care of now. But still; our chats are nice. Yeah... you can go ahead and update our relationship status to "broken up." She called and dumped me a few days ago. We haven't seen each other in three months (our last date was a little strained and she's been putting me off and continuously telling me she's too busy for a date ever since) and our connection finally weakened enough that she broke it off. I was hoping for a chance to work on our relationship this 3-day weekend I have for Martin Luther King Day but it's not going to happen. She's made it clear she doesn't love me anymore. Still processing through my emotions on that. Congratulations man. I'm glad Helen is getting back into life's rhythm. Kids do indeed grow up so fast. I hope Rose doesn't go through the phase my niece Stormi is going through where she clings onto and claims she loves every young adult that comes through. It makes Thanksgiving... interesting. I think people's faith in Valve gave out a long time ago- apart from all the people still hinging their life's hopes and dreams on Half Life 3. I've heard several reports that Itch.io and Gog.com have seen a surge in popularity as Steam slides further downhill. People only tolerate Steam anymore because it's still the biggest option.
Damn man, I'm really sorry. That sucks. I hope you are alright. It hurts like hell when something like this happens. My heart hurts for you right now man. I'm here if you want to chat about anything. I can give you an email or even my Twitter if you want and we can chat via that way seeing as YT does not do private chats anymore. I'll try and keep in contact with you more and make sure your doing alright. Helen told me to send her well wishes to you and she's thinking of you. It's most unfortunate, I don't know what to really say or what advice to give to you other than when one door closes, another opens. Yeah, things are going well. There's been ups and owns, good days and bad. But we keep plodding on. I'm still waiting for them to tell us what the hell is up with Half Life. Won't hold my breath on it.
Thanks man. We had a fight after Thanksgiving and most of the pain and hurt got out of my system after that. After saying she'd come visit and finally meet my family- which she knew was super important to me- she bailed and later yelled about why I don't understand why she couldn't come. It really set in that I wasn't important to her, but the finality and the spark going out still hurt. I've come to an epiphany that- looking back on it- I don't think that I ever had her in the first place. Hell; before we started dating she had my phone number for two months before I just flat-out asked her if she had a problem with me and to send me a text or phone call. The thought that this was doomed from the start is somehow more comforting than the idea that I had her and lost her; it's actually given me closure. Thanks for the offer- I would like to follow you on Twitter anyway if you don't mind- but I'm doing fine now. Time to find a real girlfriend. I'm glad you guys are doing well. You deserve the best. Jim Sterling did an entire- quite compelling- video on why Valve should just drop the pretense, put fans out of their misery, and cancel Half Life 3 because it's not going to live up to its hype no matter what it is.
I am currently attempting to make a game and just seeing the state of steam right now just saddens me. If my game is well liked and it turns out how I hope it will, I would like to put it on Steam but jesus christ I am having second thoughts.
The only game store that I can think of that isn't overflowing with crap is probably the Nintendo Eshop for the 3DS. The shop on the Wii U is alright too, minus one specific game...
Wooah, was wondering how you'd start the year and god damn you surpassed the expectation. I do know that the Direct made Itch.io significantly more popular but aside from that. It's got so many problems that I'm willing to bet that CN intervention, was just foreshadowing to what's to come in the future if Steam doesn't get their shit together.
So they got rid of Steam Greenlight to put a stop to this shit, and now Steam Direct continues where it left off from Greenlight.....this cannot end well.
Chris The Rottweiler given the recent Logan Paul thing UA-cam is going to go into damage control again if apocalypse 3.0 happens. And UA-cam will get raked hard over it
People who do this should be reported and have the money they earn taken away. People are literally just copying and pasting asset flip games made from asset flip games of another asset flip game. At this point steam needs to stop allowing this
Jack Of All Trades Honestly I think either works as long as you don't need to press it repeatedly while using WASD to move. Lots of games use E as a general interact prompt and it works.
For your next horror review game, could you review the outlast trinity? It’s a decent horror series that relies on strategy and compels an interesting story
EsaiTheRevolution I joined DeviantArt at age 14. I liked the nane Jadow from the Viewtiful Joe tv show, added the first part because I wanted to be cool, and was too used to the name to change it when I started on UA-cam. I never imagined any level of following when I chose the name and I kinda regret it. And thank you!
If you wanted trash off of steam you should've gotten sonic forces lol. I'm pretty sure you don't want trash so please don't consider my suggestion... please don't, i really don't want you to suffer!
I think the Pickled Rick dev donated to Autism Speaks. I haven't done any research on that yet but since I hate them both, I would not put it past him.
Well, guess if I make a game (and seriously I would make a very good one compared to these low quality losers) I’m gonna wait till they fix i it or I’m not going to steam to submit my games! (Which personally I would do now with this kind of news about them.)
And now Switch is a huge dumping site fight shitty indie games. I don't even know what thing made you think PSN's integrity took a hit for, since I've never heard of it, but I wonder if you would actually acknowledge Nintendo's.
I'm planning an episode where I pick one day and review every single game that was released on Steam in a single day to try and serve as a snapshot for how Steam is now. To my knowledge nothing's changed; just a few bad actors who screwed up badly enough have been purged from Steam.
Xbox 360 use to have a metric ton of hot garbage on it's store and the 3DS does have some garbage as well, there are ps2 games that are not even games, you're are going to get hot garbage regardless.
seriously, if i were you, i'd only drop S-bombs when im incredibly pissed off instead of saying it a thousand times per video while talking casually no offense
It seems pretty clear that Valve has become uncaring for Steam and good quality games on the store, I think as much as Google becoming uncaring for UA-cam and good quality videos. Whatever makes the most profit right? Even if it has to involve shit content produced by douchebag and delusional creators.
Also, after playing so much bullshit from Steam Direct (More like Directly Up Your Ass), maybe you should cleanse your pallet by playing a good indie game. Intrusion 2's a good option. Give some recognition to a sorely under-noticed game. Already gushed about its praises on a different video.
It's really sad you can't get kicked off steam just by harassing consumers nah you have to literally break the law to get noticed by valve. That's disappointing I guess the "report button" is just cosmetic and doesn't do anything
Brandon Roberts I read that in duke nukems voice and it fits for steam.
You have to have someone other than valve notice that you broke the law, as seen here. Valve doesn't give a shit about people violating their own terms of service.
Imagine if there was like an apocalypse for steam/valve then they would clean up their act
Who else smiled like the Joker when Darklordjadow1 uploaded?
Yeah I remember playing Rage Parking Sim in my school computer class 15 years ago.
Also the gems in Slingster are Chaos Emeralds.
Jeez how old are you lmao
Steam didn't exist 15 years ago.
Does that mean you're saying they blatantly stole a game from 2002?
I wondered why that game looked familiar
Finally! CN got some shit done.
Chris Young Other than making shit.

elin111 that would mean exclusivity on PC platforms. Not good.
My exact point. As long as Steam is the only big option for PC it'll only keep getting worse and worse.
If only GOG were as big as Steam
elin111 gog game it's the way
The Epic Games Store would like to know your location
In other news, grass is green, water is wet, and fire burns.
Seriously. I knew this shit would fail from the start because I knew how fucking incompetent Valve was at moderating any goddamn thing. This was like watching a trainwreck in slow motion, basically.
I know this comment is 3 years old but I wonder if your first line is a reference to Pokémon
No, that would actually be more interesting. At least the trainwreck in slow mo would be interesting as you get to see the details. But Jadow's video is still fun regardless.
@@tonytang7550 I like to think so since he mentioned the 3 starter elements. But it could just be a coincidence.

DMSwordsmaster do I need to mention how the game becomes less fun when Nectar is taken away?
Integrity was actually from an unreal engine asset not unity. Either way good job, steam direct is total garbage.
That's just a slip in the tongue -- it clearly says it's an Unreal Engine asset in the URL.
I H A T E achievement hunter games, I much prefer to get them legit, though on rare occasions and/or with mis-timing you will get an achieve through broken game mechanics, bugs, system errors etc
About berdyev, He was attacking a youtuber named BigFryTV. That's 1 detail that a lot of people didn't know about unless u watch BigFry

Agreed! 1000% That's what we need on the store!
Nah, that would require spending time, money and effort and we all know Valve won't do that.
*Flawless* editing at the twenty minute mark.
Thanks for working hard and always putting out content Dark.
Also what game are you considering doing next?
Firepowerx31 I hope it's the new Zombitatos game.
Firepowerx31 Thanks!

I only upvoted one game on Steam Greenlight. RWBY Grimm Eclipse. Also, Qrow for Cross Tag Battle.
And here I thought Steam couldn't get any crappier. It's like Steam hit rock bottom with Greenlight, and Direct went and got that giant excavator from Arkham Knight and went DEEPER!

Can we call this video, a dark side of steam episode?
Executor Mctom It's listed with the dark side of steam vids. The entire reason I touched on Zombitatos was I wanted to use the "he drinks bleach" title card for Steam Direct.
You know what's sad? These would make decent flash games. For FREE.
Always nice to see that people actually pay attention to this travesty. Like your videos, too.

Valve notices this. They just don't care.
Greenlight : Steam can't get any worse than this
Steam Direct: Hold my beer
Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling that the "Loot!" text that appears on top of the screen in the Sleengster games was stolen from somewhere...
It is no exaggeration that the old flash games portals had better curation than Steam.

I honestly agree... Although DH were entertaining in their own way, but damn I didn't expect the bar to get lower than that. I know better now.
Birdyev after getting banned: "it wasn't about the money it was about sending a message"
I was curious as to when you would call out Direct as the rotting cesspool it is.
Glad to see that the wait was more than worth it.

It has been a long time; I apologize for not chatting with you. I need to get better about procrastination. Iffy has had a rough couple of months and our relationship seems a rocky at the moment. I'm hoping a weekend together starts to mend it. How are you doing? How are Helen and Baby Rose? (I really hope I got her name right)
Exactly; Steam Greenlight was an ineffective barrier to entry, but it was still a barrier.
Oh dear, I hope everything is alright with you two.
Love your videos
I am currently attempting to make a game and just seeing the state of steam right now just saddens me. If my game is well liked and it turns out how I hope it will, I would like to put it on Steam but jesus christ I am having second thoughts.
There's Switch and Xbox One, Nintendo and Microsoft are capitalizing on how bad Steam is now and letting a lot more indie games in their stores.
The only game store that I can think of that isn't overflowing with crap is probably the Nintendo Eshop for the 3DS.
The shop on the Wii U is alright too, minus one specific game...
Or you can go the risky route and torrent all your games XD
Psssst. Jadow.
How about trying Drake of the 99 Dragons? You did Ride to Hell afterall.
Halo CE: Fire hurts
Halo 2: Fire safe
5:23 (gasp) It's the Ghost Rider!
10:23 I guess the guy took the lesson from Big Rigs or something
Random Hoo Haas did the review/rant on Brilliant Bob about 3 and a half years ago:
randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com/gw/2015game/#bb
5:52 well EA would of put that behind a $5 loot box with a .02% chance of getting that suit.
So they got rid of Steam Greenlight to put a stop to this shit, and now Steam Direct continues where it left off from Greenlight.....this cannot end well.
Well once upon a time UA-cam wasn't a perfect either so this another fall from grace tale.
At this point steam needs to stop allowing this
2:58 Now there's the Epic Store.
Valve don't care about quality, they have 100 dollars from each shitty game why would they prevent someone from uploading them????
Gabe Newell's career is a disaster now.
ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS RELEASE HL3 lol
@@theblacksheep1000 It might happen soon, if the rumors are true.
Markiplier doesn't play self-described rage games anymore because it's bad for his health. So... I don't think it'll work.
Is E better for action? Or F? I need this info for reasons.
Jack Of All Trades Honestly I think either works as long as you don't need to press it repeatedly while using WASD to move. Lots of games use E as a general interact prompt and it works.
You should review miner ultra adventures sequel.
For your next horror review game, could you review the outlast trinity? It’s a decent horror series that relies on strategy and compels an interesting story
Where did you get your name Jadow? I'm a huge fan :) thank you for suffering for our entertainment!
Cancelling Half Life 3
Artifact being a thing
This new thing
The above is why i'll never trust Gaben
If you wanted trash off of steam you should've gotten sonic forces lol. I'm pretty sure you don't want trash so please don't consider my suggestion... please don't, i really don't want you to suffer!
Fidget spinner simulator has 16k players according to steamspy. Most legit developer I know only got 5k players in the same time gap.
Fuck this shit,
Crabs Algae That knowledge makes my head sad; I must kill that knowledge with alcohol... oh right, I don't drink.
Fuuuuuuuuu......
It's sad how there are still people who defend Steam and Valve.
at this point I have given up on steam, it's too corrupt to make an honest living on it
Zonitron disliked this video x3
I think the Pickled Rick dev donated to Autism Speaks. I haven't done any research on that yet but since I hate them both, I would not put it past him.
So in an attempt to make himself look better, he donated to the charity that does for autism what PETA does for animal rights.
Well, guess if I make a game (and seriously I would make a very good one compared to these low quality losers) I’m gonna wait till they fix i it or I’m not going to steam to submit my games! (Which personally I would do now with this kind of news about them.)
Most of the real indies are abandoning Steam.
Which since steam is becoming this, then I see it to be the logical choice.
420p heck?
I'm not sure whether it is just me or it is the fact that 2017 was the most controversial year of gaming.
we have gog
And now Switch is a huge dumping site fight shitty indie games. I don't even know what thing made you think PSN's integrity took a hit for, since I've never heard of it, but I wonder if you would actually acknowledge Nintendo's.
Damn, I'm so late for this
Hello.
Here’s a banana. 🍌
Also, I agree. I’m going to release my games on Itch.io and GOG
Bananas suck my child, Apples are the best fruit
Jesus H. Christ Well........... can’t argue with the son of God.
You better not, fam :D
Is there an update on this dumpster fire?
I'm planning an episode where I pick one day and review every single game that was released on Steam in a single day to try and serve as a snapshot for how Steam is now.
To my knowledge nothing's changed; just a few bad actors who screwed up badly enough have been purged from Steam.
Xbox 360 use to have a metric ton of hot garbage on it's store and the 3DS does have some garbage as well, there are ps2 games that are not even games, you're are going to get hot garbage regardless.
I saw a lot of crap on Switch as well, so it must be an epidemic of hot garbage
A good chunk of the 360's garbage was mainly through the Xbox Live Indie Games section. That was 90% garbage.
Steam is going to singlehandedly bring on another Video Game Crash!
Steam is just short for "Steaming pile of shit"
How did Valve not get in legal troubles for hosting a borderline illegal money laundering operation?
seriously, if i were you, i'd only drop S-bombs when im incredibly pissed off instead of saying it a thousand times per video while talking casually
no offense
11:55
19:27
Glad to be one of the first to view this.
how dare u diss brilliant bob it is perfect game >:(
It seems pretty clear that Valve has become uncaring for Steam and good quality games on the store, I think as much as Google becoming uncaring for UA-cam and good quality videos.
PC is still superior to consoles.
MUH 4K, MODS, 60FPS, AND MOUSE AIM
And does it really matter what platform you play on as long as the games are enjoyable?
So how's arkham knight on PC?
David Bird that game is terribly optimized lol
You're saying your an arrogant fucc, which is an insult to PC players
