I like how you always say: "I hope you learned something, I hope you can use it" after continually telling us how to light a fire and rediscover the wheel. I couldn't imagine life without Reaper anymore.
This video lays bare the fundamentals of what an arpeggiator is and does. The JS plugins in Reaper don't have a lot of "flash" as they are basic and barebones, yet 99.8 per cent of the time the simple way is often the best way. Thanks Kenny and Team Reaper, well done.
So relieved to find this. Now I can get the Arp's I've not been able to find for so long. Time for a Trance'd-out-Reaper fest. Thank you so much for your helpful work!
Great tutorial and great plugin! Took me a moment to understand what the alt mode does. Just "down" plays the top note and all its variants, then the next. "down alt" plays all the notes top to bottom, then all their first variants top to bottom, etc.
Super cool Kenny, I have been using REAPER mostly just for recording for years and I have a couple hardware arpeggiators, in fact I kinda gave up using software instruments and utilities for a few years. I clearly have a whole lot to discover with REAPER, I've been getting blown away with how much progress there's been over the years now that I'm looking into it again. The only feature I'm kinda missing is my hardware arps have the option to play the notes in the order in which they're pressed, in addition to up and down. But I'm just glad to see such a good arp in the install.
Kenny you are literally a big hero of mine and I mean it. If I actually release any cool music I'll credit you all day long. I make wooden musical instruments for a living but am challenged on getting any original music released, myself (a huge self critic). You're helping more than anything else ever before.
I'm just getting into wanting to explore making music electronically a bit more and tried to use the midi arp feature before and was completely lost. Your tutorial made it easy to follow, and right after I watched it I cracked Reaper open and started messing with it, and because of your clear instructions, I knew what I was doing this time and got it to work! Thank you so much for such simplified in depth tutorials Kenny, they really help a lot!
Another awesome tutorial, Kenny! Reaper is complex and intimidating to us newbies, but is immensely powerful. Your tutorials really help orient and guide new users to this amazing tool's logic, power, and capabilities. Thank you (and the Cockos team) for all your great work. I'm have a blast playing with all these cool new toys!
@@johnstudiob2481 One way is to load in a drum machine vst, load in a few samples and add the arpegiator vst to the same track. It's essentially the same method as a synth vst. But dont use the Reaper sampleomatic5000 plugin because it only triggers one sound.
Excellent presentation - thank you. I'm just starting out with Reaper and exploring inclusive functionality and arpegiators are a must-have for me. This is a big tick on my list. What i love about the Reaper arp is the focus on functionality/versatility. Coming from Reason the exact opposite tends to be true; lots of pizaz making you think you have more than there is plus, because of intense graphics there's huge cpu usage.
i feel so stupid after busting my ass to get as many apergiators as possible I see Keny open one from inside reaper , seriously reaper has everything we need..
I've been a viewer for some time now, and I've gotta say Kevin, you're fuckin awesome man! Thank you for all your work, I do learn something because you're by far the best guy at explaining Reaper. Just bought an akai mpk and these MIDI tutorials really helped discover all its features and they shed some light on how to combine it with reaper, so thank you once again and please keep on doing them!
Great Kenny ! I am happy to see your latest tuts are more about MIDI-related stuff in Reaper. This native Arp plugin is really powerful ! Warm Regards.
What? I've been searching for a decent arpeggiator for so long, not realising Reaper had one already. Although I miss some nice interface (which all the reaper plugins lack), but at least it's very simple and easy to use!
Reaper has so many great features but for some reason it is adamant not to add a feature like scratch pad or a session view (I know playtime exists but not a built in feature which seamlessly work). It is key for recording ideas quickly . For this one reason I always go to Ableton or even Mixcraft (which has a performance panel) . Will folks at Reaper do something about it?
Hello I am new to reaper . There are no midi effects in my reaper installl only audio. Plug ins . Do i have to install the midi effects seperatly? I would like to try this out but... thanks for help.
Great tutorial, but... a very basic arpeggiator. Though I suppose if you really want to go deeper you can just code whatever you like in the scripting language. Which is the main advantage of Reaper, from what I can see.
If I click anywhere I lose my pc keys, I have to click on any key of the virtual keyboard to get it going again. This is a hassel when I am trying to adjust the faders because it stops sounding. Anyone have a clue?
Ok I found it. All you gotta do is right click on the virtual keyboard and click on (Send all keyboard input to virtual Midi keyboard) even when other windows active. Yea !!
these are easily the best tutorials on all things Reaper. Thanks, Kenny.
I usually watch Kenny's videos then try to find it on ReaperTV's channel for added insight. Both of them are truly great dudes to learn from.
good point! I would have missed out on a lot if not for both channels.

I love how kenny unassumingly drops bangers in his demo tracks with such a mild manner as a teacher.
Kenny ...You've made me love Reaper to the point am totally stuck on this DAW , never looking back nor looking forward to another DAW.
Only started using Reaper a few weeks ago and these videos are absolutely invaluable. Gold mate. Gold!

Thanks so much! Exactly what I needed!
Everytime I think I need something that Reaper can not offer you and the developers prove me wrong. Thanks!
Been trying to figure out how to use this feature in Reaper for a while and your videos never disappoint. Thanks Kenny. 😁
Thanks for everything you do for us in Reaper land
What a crazy bit of kit...

This is the best free software Ive seen. Respect.
Used together with a drum machine can get interesting drum rolls
how do you record these arps

I never knew a reaper came packed in with an arp plug in. Thank you so much this will save me so much time

Awesome! Great demo, Kenny. I'm gonna go play with it right now...
Thank you for this tutorial. I was looking for an arpegiator in Reaper and here it is. Thanks again!
My head is spinning! Reaper has to be the best DAW ever, and you have to be the best teacher :-)
Thanks a lot, i was searching for an arpeggiator in Reaper since ages. Reaper is just phenomenal ... unique !
I will definitely use this on future songs. Thanks Kenny!
Thanks a lot!!! clear, useful and well explained!!!
Every video, I learn something that I know I can use! Thanks Kenny.
wow, i love REAPER, Kenny your the best, thanks for another great tip.
Woah, great video mate!
Thanks a ton!
Thanks Kenny!
You are a Star

Kenny ~ Arpeggiator
UA-cam subtitles ~ Apache ATAR :D
Youtobe subtitles again ~ a Pidgey ater xD
Thanks for the tutorial!
What if I want an Up&Down motion?
I'm guessing you just automate the mode?
@Find The Acorn but all the midi notes generated for first arp will just trigger the the second arp
This is great, thank you!

Kenny _Joy of Learning_ Gioia.
Many thanks.
;-)
JS has some amazing plugins is Reaper! I love these!
Thank you so much for this and other tutorials you've done. I'm just beginning using this type of instrument and you have helped me tons!!

Great Kenny ! I am happy to see your latest tuts are more about MIDI-related stuff in Reaper. This native Arp plugin is really powerful !

:)
Hi Kenny, many thanks for your tutorial and best regards
Again a great and useful tutorial
Is there a way to support you, Kenny? These tutorials have taken my knowledge to new levels, and I would like to make some sort of contribution.
Another very usefull guide.
It would be great if u made one specific to Blue Arp cause it pretty hard to configure
awesome tutorial, thank u kenny
Wonder if it works the same with drum sounds that would be so cool .
Excellent guide as always!
I wonder if you can automate the different settings of the arpeggiator.
Yep, as any parameter in Reaper: ;o)

Great!
I would have liked to know your reverb and delay setting. But it's interesting. Thanks
Awesome. Can you send the midi of the arpeggiator to another track to record a live performance?
Appreciate ya man, thank you!
You are such a beautiful person
Superb.
thank you bro thank you
Oh snap its the intro from the other Reaper tutorials!
good day, kenny

Is there any similar plugin which is able to do something like Bliss by Muse?
sick
thanks helpful vid
now it's time to make the stranger things opening
How do you get the EQ to sweep back and forth like that??
Wondering the same
automated EQ using ReaEQ: you show it at the beginning of the video, how do you do that? Google has no results. Thanks.
now i am in a good mood
coming from ableton, I have to ask. is it possible to record the midi to another track ?
Is it possible to record the arpegiated notes on a midi track? The arpegiated notes on my Triton can be recorded into Reaper. Any suggestions? tnx
make sure that Reaper's MIDI plugins are not in "autobypass" mode, otherwise they won't work.
Up and Down... WHERE IS THAT?
alguien sabe como hacer un split en un teclado controlador¡? es decir dividir que en ciertas teclas suenen un fx y en otro lado suenen otros sonidos

For once, the software is actually really useful

Yesssss Thank you for figuring that out! That was the one annoying thing about Reaper for me I should have known there was already a solution!
mine does nothing :/
Sounds like 99% of 80s pop music was writing by an arpeggiator
