  • Darren Freyer is a helicopter flight instructor for high altitude flying. Come along for a day to see what it’s like to train and fly in some of the most challenging conditions on Earth.
    The instructors at HAATS - The High-Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site - rank among the world's most seasoned military helicopter pilots.
    Pilots from all branches of the US military, and around the world come here to learn at this unique facility. It is currently the only DOD facility where these trainings are done in an aircraft, outside the classroom.
    It’s time to go... Behind the Wings!

    As a Colorado Native and years of search, first aid, rescue and flying experience, high altitude is a completely different environment!!!

    Is this something you have to be a tracked aviator to attend, or can you attend it as a PC or even PI?

    • @maddog2557
      @maddog2557 9 місяців тому +1

      Tracked untracked pi pc all same same, they'll take you. You just have to get your command authorization.

    I wonder if they train 160th SOAR pilots and crew

      They sure do. There is only one HAATS. Unfortunately, a 160th crew impacted Mount Massive a few years before I got there. They may have been hypoxic. There is a memorial there at the school house.

      @@KGSpradleyAuthorCan Apache pilots stationed at Ft. Carson attend this course? I’m an LT and would love to attend one day.

    Please blur the face of the Israeli pilots, it's Israel's policy to never disclose their face or names for security reasons.

    Please get rid of the terrible music you tend to put all over your videos. Do you think it helps in some way? Wrong, it's just distracting and irritating.
