Thank you for this demonstration. I went out to my local hardware store to buy some tubing for this diy project. Appreciate the videos!

There is a far more simple method and that is to take a simple tube and place one end into the mouth of the frmenter and the second end into a glass filled with water. The water will prevent any air from getting into your fermenter and the tube will allow the gas (the CO2) to flow into the water. Brewers call this a "blow off tube" but it works in much the same way as a "bubbler" .

Cheers, may be effort but I've lots of tube and cable ties so I can easily make several of these instead of paying £3 each which they are in the UK.
    Brilliant video.

All the South African people will be watching. No alcohol since April for our country. No yeast in shops and no shops to buy airlocks. :)

@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato me and my dad are definately following your instructions. I've made my starter months ago and now making bread but the problem is with the wine yeast, My dad wants to make wine but our fruit gets washed in a liquid to remove that natural yeast. So when we use the fruit (dried also) to ferment naturally it doesn't work. We are going to try now with wild dates we planted years ago. Hope that works. We have an orchard that gives grapes in December so might wait a looooong time till we have wine.

    My Airlock, to brewing.
Use a plastic bucket, with plastic lid. Make 2 - 10 holes in the lid - little holes, wery little - from inside, in the bucket.
Put a little plate, vice versa on lid. Over the holes.
When the fluid ferments, can the gas disappere, and no flies an another thing, come tho the fluid.
This is my airlock; but no bubbling, like from a real Airlock.

Another easy way is to put a thin pipe from the fermenter to a small jar of water below the level of the fermenter

I have no idea why you need multiple tubes. Just take a small one, twist it 360° and zip tie it to a chopstick or something. Fill the bottom of the circle with distilled water. Done

@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato well don’t go crazy, don’t use a tube that’s so narrow surface tension creates a “dam” which won’t allow gas to escape by bubbling. yes, my plan won’t work if all the water must be pushed all the way out of the tube for the gas to escape. but the thinnest tube you were working with should allow bubbles to escape through the water.

Make a hole in the lid and insert a plastic tube. On the end of the tube going out of the jar tie down a surgical glove. All the extra CO2 will be going into it and you just have to monitor that it doesn't become too big from the gas. Problem solved.

@@Spectacular-cuoredicioccolato Ah, I almost forgot! When you put the plastic tube through the lid, put some glue around it or it will fly away like a rocket once the glove gets enough pressure inside from the CO2.
