Hey Benni, I really followed Chen’s vlog about the building process and there were some huge issues with there house which really came from bad construction and architecture. However they were the first getting their house build so perhaps some things changed. I would just recommend talking with them and getting some tips so you avoid some unnecessary hustle because of shitty construction.
I'm sure the scenery will be very beautiful but to be honest I'm sad. when rich people build villas in the hills or mountains. local people who will be affected. Landslides, floods, animals from the forest come down to residential areas to get food, difficult to get clean water, and so on. too often happened in my country indonesia. I hope the construction of this villa really thinks about the impact of survival for local communities who are mostly poor. Nice scenery, business prospects and money for the rich but the way to survive for local people. I can't imagine in the next 5 or 10 years the green hills will turn into luxury villas like the one in Uluwatu Bali.
I do agree with you, projects like this oftenly turn a beautiful area to the worse. But you can’t see it just black or white. I’ve seen hours of footage of the constructions in tempah hills and what definitely is a big upturn is that the money they brought in basically brought employment to the entire surrounding villages. Nowadays the constructions are lead by external architects and professionals, but executed by the locals. And I think going forward from here that will only get even better! Besides that they (the western people) also started initiatives on Lombok to reduce the plastic waste and cleaning it up. There as well is an ongoing project to control the local street dog problem, by saving, sterilizing and vaccinating them.
@@johannes_7922 the kitchen and the furniture have been replaced with higher quality....the only thing that still has a bad quality, are the moving panel rails(and they are currently getting replaced)
@@bastian7882 in the newest vlogs they show some details, like the bathroom sinks or the kitchen from below. It’s not acceptable. The same for the wooden closets. All taps look cheap. The whole house wants to be something special, high design,… but in the end it’s a big scam.

As a German-Indonesian, currently studying in the Netherlands, and seeing Benji in Lombok, makes me so jealous and makes me miss home so much. Hope to visit home again soon.
It breaks my heart thinking that there are people in that very country who can't even afford the live. I love benni and his work but it doesn't mean I can't feel for those who aren't as blessed as him.

Out of curiosity, is there a building inspection done on those houses to make sure they follow western building code? I've seen some sketchy things last time I was in Lombok. From far you don't see the defects, but when you start digging you realize it's never built to last sadly. Maybe this project is different

When you buy a property built by a Swedish builder you expect not to have to worry about faucets getting clogged by particles every month and windows caulking falling apart after the first storm. Just talking from my experience, maybe they know how things are built in Singapore and will adopt similar best practices.

Watch both of your videos and Jon, got to say both is awesome but both have its distinct vibe eventhough it was edited by you. Your video utilisation of 360 cam is really at the sweet spot, not too much, just enough.

Why would they follow western building codes they aren't in a western country
At least they seem to follow some safety protocols but I would definitely like to know about the quality and workers salary
