- So regardless of the holiday destination, a travel fishing rod is always pack into my suitcase so I can, at the very least, lure fish once from the shore in tropical waters. The holiday destination was The Riviera Maya in Mexico. keeping the the fishing gear light was the key as I had one hold bag between 2 adults and 3 kids. I packed a travel lure rod, some lures and the Gopro and that was it.
As it was a family holiday I decided to only venture to the rocks once and have a short lure session before breakfast. The sea was calm and clear and the sun was just rising and the weather was glorious. The first lure hit the water 10 minutes into light and it wasn't long after that before I started getting interest. All in all it was an enjoyable 90mins on the rocks with 3 new species added to the bag.

Nice one Greg, Have a good holiday. Once caught a 15lb Barracuda and a 12lb Red Snapper a bit further south than that when the RAF sent me to Belize as a 19yr old in the late 70s.

One of the blokes living on Caye Caulker used to take us out to the reef about a mile from the Caye and we fished the drop of, He didnt have the boat for anything large.@@gsp

Well done Greg,great video. So glad you are enjoying your holiday and managing to get in a bit of fishing. Still quite slow around the Thanet coast and a few bass still being caught but the whiting are late this year and few in numbers. Weather not very good and we have a storm coming in tomorrow. You have got to live life to the full as it starts to look shorter as you become older! Very best wishes, Dave broadstairs

Good fish there Greg, for cuda you wanna try the most flashy/ silver lure, have caught them just down the coast in bahia principe, best time is in the evening an hour before sunset, also caught a small GT which is really good fun on light gear, you can catch milk fish on a float with bread
