Fishing Chesil Beach and Catching Bream 4K

- Well I managed to get a rare Sunday a free and what better way to spend it that driving 4 hours west to the mighty Chesil Beach and trying to catch a monster. I set off at 3am to pick up Pete and Mark on the way. We got to Abbotsbury at 6.45am and headed straight to the beach to find it packed to the brim with fishermen. So…we started walking, we ended up just shy of the dragons teeth and immediately started fishing. The fishing was extremely slow and bites were like gold dust. I managed to get one decent bite which gave us the only fish of the trip. After over 6hrs on the shingle we gave up and made our way home, which was lucky as the traffic was horrendous and the journey was over 5 hours back.
I hope you find this video both entertaining and informative even though the fish are thin on the ground.

Thanks for all the time and effort you put in . Keep the faith!
Cheers Christopher 👍🎣 appreciate it
I feel your pain Greg. No one puts more effort in than you together with Mark and Pete also bearing in mind the travelling involved. I have been unable to fish this year due to hospitalisation but your videos and positive outlook have kept me going. Hoping to get out fishing soon if only for a few whiting! I guarantee your enthusiasm will return soon. Best wishes, Dave Broadstairs
Cheers Dave. This year has been tough but I'm hoping the autumn will bring some good sessions. I hope you get out fishing soon👍
you should not be disappointed you do quality videos so hang in there nice Bream well done mate 👍
Cheers daniel👍
Hi ya Greg. Sorry the session wasn't great, cant tell you how many ive had like that, more than not at thd moment. Keep them spirits up, been like it everywhere buddy.
Still got a nice bream!!!!.
Keep doing what you do, always entertaining videos, informative and fun.
Tight lines bud. Best wishes Paul.
Cheers Paul. 👍
That was a beautiful Bream tbh mate . I’ve had much worse sessions on Chesil, the worst was getting welly’s full by a rouge wave in mid December at night . Scared the bejesus out of me and I blanked 😂
🤣 I can imaging🤦 and I no it wasn't a total disaster
Don't be too despondent mate, a bad days fishing is still better than a good days work. Great thinking on the reel fix, I always carry a reel of electrical tape. So many uses, even emergency first aid plaster. I have recently purchased a PENN Surfblaster III, and was very surprised to find that the handle screws into the body with just a cap on the opposite side. No chance of losing the fixing screw. Keep up the good work, always look forward to your content, even when you don't catch. Ray
I like reel handles that do that. All the new pens have done that for about 5 years now. I think it's alot better . Cheers ray👍🎣
The beach of broken dreams mate nice bream 👌👍
Yeah it really is Leighton. But I'm refreshed now and ready to get out again👍
Hi greg ,pete and mark . At least you saved the blank, but it has been tuff going of late. All the best greg from G.Y.
Tough is an understatement mate😫😫
All felt like that mate. Have a week down there every Autumn and one days awesome on Chesil the next few are awful as ya know. Been tough this year for me so far around Essex coast also, sib & shore. Look forward to your next one when recharged bud..
Cheers steve👍 nearly recharged and ready to go again! Let's hope there are some fish about🤞
Lovely bream mate it’s hard work this time of year keep trying 👏👏🤞🎣
Tell me about it🤦 thanks graham👍
Jesus, catching bream? Felt like I was there for the entire session. 1 fish? 😂 good luck
Unfortunately in real time it felt like an eternity!
Chin up mate. Fishing is tough at the moment. I don’t like seeing you looking fed up. Enjoy your bream. Take care Greg 😉
Cheers will👍 It did taste very nice😋
Mate at least you hit target, you did really well considering you only had half a reel. Shame it didnt fosh better for you guys though👍👍🎣🎣
Mate it's really been hard going this year and it just seems that the day I get to go fishing is the day when nothing happens🤦
Tough going mate fuel and bait costs a fortune these days as for the reel handle screw i may be wrong but i think most handle screws are the same size so you should have no trouble replacing it .take care
I have a few spares from old reels that have fallen apart so have managed to sort it👍 it is tough going with all those cost like you say🤦🎣
I feel for you Greg, it’s been a very hard summer for fishing. I don’t know what’s happened to the rays & the hounds this year. If I have caught anything it’s been the odd fish. It is easy to get despondent especially when you’ve had bad luck as well like you have with your reel and the broken eye that you had. All I can say is that we are all with you & can’t wait for you to come back refreshed & raring to go. The same goes for Mark & Pup lol.
Cheers chris👍 I'm nearly fully refreshed and raring to go. Just need a free evening and I'm hit the beach😁
Instead of shore fishing, why not take a charter boat and try some wreck fishing or a trip to the skerries and go for big plaice and turbot, Chesil can be cruel at times, I have seen it full of fishermen, flogging the sea to almost foam and not a fish landed, other times the beach is full of whitebait and mackerel almost at your feet. For every video showing fish landed, we never see the other 10 videos where they blank. Thanks for sharing, and the effort you put in, with travel and parking and bait, as well as the production it's a welcome watch and really appreciated.
Cheers Taz I appreciate it👍
Not been great for fishing anywhere mate. Don’t let it get you down. Carry on mate your good at what you do and it happens to us all. 😊😊
It had got to me but a week off the recharge the batteries will help🤞🎣
The struggle is real mate, i just got a kayak. Gna work on the local north coast of whistable where i live for bass. The fish are deeper. Us old men cant get that far. Drone fishing. Lure sessions. Kayak. Rock fishing. Get back to the hunt when your fresh
The struggle is real!😫
That's Chesil for you mate I am surprised you didn't have any straps
I would have taken a strap or 2 baggers🤦😁
What is the tides/weather app you displayed?
It's called nautide. Very handy👍
I wouldn’t bother, as a local to chesil i can tell you now, that app was a full hour incorrect!!
Nice size Bream. At least you included your cock ups in the video, many would'nt. We all have days like that you're not the only one. Haven't fished since the last time at Folkestone pier for the same reason. Had a look at Deal pier last week and might give that go in a couple of weeks when my Cousin (fishing buddy) gets back from his travels.
I'm looking at deal Pier for this week as I'm raring to go again. Cheers kevin👍
You guys are kidding. Come to Australia. We’ll show you how to fish. That was hilarious
If only🤦 I'd love to come to Australia to fish. Amazing fishing around all the coast
I and many others seem to have come under the impression that the fish this year seem to have gone on holiday to France, I’ve not had anything in the last 3 sessions except one rattle on the first of the 3 which I misjudged horribly and missed
It is painful this year😫
Sorry to see you so despondent but you should count your blessings. You live 15 mins from the coast, you’ve got good mates to go with and a massive following. A recent operation on my arm means I can’t travel the usual 2 hours down to Kent to fish for at least 6 weeks and right now I’d do anything to sit at Reculver for 6 hours and catch nothing.
I get it Alistair and sometimes I get complacent but I'm raring to go again👍
@@gsp good man. Look forward to your next video
Short happens mate, there's always next time
Cheers liam👍
OMG,you sound like a broken man 😢. Mind you, sometimes it helps to take a step back, like you said. You’ll be back though 🤞💪🐟🎣
Yeah a week away has already got me wanting to get back out so this week I will go again and hopefully catch some dinner🤞
Fingers crossed then 🤞🎣🐟
I have to be honest, I dont really understand why people drive for several hours to fish chesil. When it’s off, it’s just as off as anywhere else. And when it’s on it’s as on as anywhere else. Driving several hours without absolute concrete intel on tide state and correct marks for said tide/weather seems absolutely mental to me. I know il get some flack for this comment but it is true. I wouldn’t drive 4-5 hours to fish an east coast mark unless I had every single possible detail of info from 100% reliable source……
Chesil has fished ok this year, granted it’s not been great, but it’s been ok at optimum times relative to the marks. We’ve had a lot worse years!!!
The kent coast is becoming very samey and Chesil has alot more possibilities even with concrete Intel on how it fishes. I was happy when I travelled there a few years ago and caught a coalie. My first every and mad the trip worth while. I think a change of scenery is good and a day out fishing with friends is always nice
Fishing still ain’t that great even now, during the day you get absolutely nothing because it’s so calm at night I’ve gotten lots of small specimens, very small congers, tiny thorn backs literally newborn and tiny smoothound, the whiting have also arrived so it lowers the chances of a decent fish 😔
The added pressure of trying to create watchable content in constant testing conditions got to me in the end. I've had a couple of weeks break and hopefully this weekend I'll be back at it for some tiny conversion and thornies🤣🎣
Not even a like unsecured 👎
i dont blame you for a little hiatus mate, ive had nothing the last 3 sessions apart from losing gear. look foward to your next vid, nice bream even still!
Thanks stilldiggin 👍 im recharged and ready to go again😁
