This art would be good if it was full contact. Most capoeira guys in MMA are guys who learn to train capoeira for full contact. Capoeira masters don't teach you how to use it effectively in combat. Its becoming more of a dance than a actual fight.
Some of the moves seem more showy than practical, but I was also led to understand capoeira involved trickery and intentionally complex moves to throw an opponent off. I wonder why it has to be full contact to be good though. While it was supposedly developed for the purpose of slaves being able to fight, it also seems to be culturally important to Brazil
Capoeira is nowadays more fitness and acrobatics rather than fighting. You learn to control your body and get good movement. Its still not meant for full fighting
