For a while something with my mods was messed up so everytime I started a new game I would spawn in third person as the semper Gordon freeman model and be unable to move or anything until I used the console to kill myself and respawn.

The Gman Virus is a very real thing, I fell victim to it back in 2010 by joining a random RP server, it scared the living bejesus out of me and just forcibly shut down the computer with thankfully no further infection. Unfortunately I do not have picture or video proof, it just caught me off guard like basically all people who have gotten it.
Ashkore's a friend of mine, he just sent me the video. I have also been victim of the Gman Virus the same day as he did iirc, but I was on a standard sandbox flatgrass. It was in the morning, I was something like 10 or 11 years old, was minding my own business and suddenly, Gman Virus. In my memories there was also a loud noise aswell, though I am not sure. I had to force shutdown my computer aswell, couldn't access task manager or anything. Computer didn't get infected neither, but I remember not launching Gmod for a few days and went back to Counter-Strike: Source instead. I am 24 now and I still remember it very clearly, this has scared the shit out of me. I swear GMan Virus was real, at least the screamer part, the infection part did not happen to me so I can't tell. A theory I have is that it was an E2 script (Expression 2, part of the Wiremod) that was used a lot back then to make screamers to anyone that would approach it. Maybe there was a vulnerability that would also allow to crash people game, over-saturate the memory, thus explaining why I couldn't access the task manager and has to force shutdown the PC.
i dont even think anyone would have been able to screenshot it, and even if they did the virus would apparently crash your computer entirely, the only way i think you'd be able to screenshot it and upload it would be to quickly whip out your phone and take a pic of the screen during the virus, but i doubt anyone ever thought of that, due to the player being distracted or probably busy shitting their pants in terror to do so, lol

I've heard this myth from a friend recently, I don't know if it's true though but they say if you open Gmod on specifically 27th on August and spawn a pyro ragdoll, there will be a super rare chance of it's being a fat pyro model.

Fairly certain the Semper myth exists just because of in-game bugs. It's pretty easy to get set to the Gordon Freeman model because it's the default model of the player in general I think, considering the game was created within the Half Life 2 engine (and as you said, Gordon Freeman model). Someone probably just had corrupt models or a bad add-on at some point, got turned into Gordon Freeman and spun a myth around it.
I feel like Downtown gives off a more eerie vibe when compared to other maps somehow. I've played on big empty towns and cities, yet the vibe of all of them feel nice. They look enjoyable to look and sift through with noclip without a sense of panic or internal fear lurking. Even sometimes on nighttime maps they don't look scary at all, just nice lighting and a calm atmosphere. Downtown, while I don't have the fear or belief of it being haunted, I can see the eerie and haunting feeling people get when they load into the map.
Grey Ball can easily explained as a bug. I haven't looked at the code or textures, but I could easily see a bug causing a ball to spawn in without a determined colour value.

I actually encountered Semper today when I was playing a steam workshop map “battle of deymansk” And it REALLY caught me off guard when I encountered it. The weird thing was that it appeared when I died, and it teleported right on my character and it didn’t go away when I touched it.

The gm_construct_13_beta or whatever the map is called, is a map that is “haunted”. The creator put stuff like dark figures and “Semper” to appear in the map, and until you uninstall the map, the stuff will happen on other maps too. Maybe you have that map?
Have you seen a green player model? I found one in gm_construction he looks like Gordon freeman but bald and that’s soo weird it was scary but he just kills you but I got soo scared that I exited the game
i've encountered the semper, got some pictures which people wont believe me. I mean a friend of mine also encountered it we were in the same server, and it was just in our spawn location following our characters by rotating around itself

OHHH YEAH gm_construct 13 beta is probably what map you were on. both of those are scripted events! i believe the map might be an arg but i’m not 100% sure on that
City is straight up actually haunted. I saw the entity when I was in a completely abandoned part of town. 100%, it was not just a nothing, it actually ran and opened a door.

So, about Semper, I once experienced it, but in a map named "gm_fever_dream" while I was playing around with nextbots, at first I saw it with the corner of my eye, then when i recognized it i despawned everything in the map and just looked at it until it disappeared. I just thought that maybe it was a little easter egg in the map but every single time I've played the map I never found it again, not even a single time.

semper is the placeholder for your playemodel when in firstperson
Semper is a placeholder player model which is used if you don't have any player models. I'm pretty sure HL2 and HL-S used it as the model for Gordon.

Old games have a lot of time to ruminate in public consciousness, with plenty of tales of half-truths sprouting up. In the case of retro games, we were all kids without internet access so anyone could make up anything and you would have it spread around to everyone.
I actually encountered Semper today when I was playing a steam workshop map “battle of deymansk” And it REALLY caught me off guard when I encountered it. The weird thing was that it appeared when I died, and it teleported right on my character and it didn’t go away when I touched it.

oh lol the "gman virus" i remember back in 2011 i used to play on a tf2 server that add a "roll the dice" plugin, and you had a very low chance of getting the gman virus, wich was of course the gman's flat texture face with a screamer sound

I saw that gray statue when playing gmod. No not in a server, it was in a singleplayer world. As I know he does nothing but look at the player a few times then disappear. Also I saw it in a minecraft map so that means it can spawn on other maps
The gm_construct_13_beta or whatever the map is called, is a map that is “haunted”. The creator put stuff like dark figures and “Semper” to appear in the map, and until you uninstall the map, the stuff will happen on other maps too. Maybe you have that map?
if you have a conflicting ragdoll/playermodel addon, your body/ragdoll you spawned can switch to a semper model

I found one in gm_construction he looks like Gordon freeman but bald and that’s soo weird it was scary but he just kills you but I got soo scared that I exited the game
gm_construct_beta13 causes it, just disable the addon

i've encountered the semper, got some pictures which people wont believe me. I mean a friend of mine also encountered it we were in the same server, and it was just in our spawn location following our characters by rotating around itself

i've actually encountered semper before. me and my friend were playing on a one of those construct edit maps and suddenly it just was there, and then we kinda ignored it for a bit. then i turned to check on it, it was gone. but the map also had a couple Mingebag NPCs on it, so i think it was just part of it.
OHHH YEAH gm_construct 13 beta is probably what map you were on. both of those are scripted events! i believe the map might be an arg but i’m not 100% sure on that

City is straight up actually haunted. I saw the entity when I was in a completely abandoned part of town. 100%, it was not just a nothing, it actually ran and opened a door.

Also another 'interesting' fact about semper that it's also chells pm from portal 2 since source shares the pm as a default for unmodeled characters.

I have seen Semper two times, once in a Half Life 2 map, and a custom map, first time did sort of catch me of guard, he did teleport way first time, second time he just stood there doing nothing, and this is when I had not internet, he is nice tho.

So, about Semper, I once experienced it, but in a map named "gm_fever_dream" while I was playing around with nextbots, at first I saw it with the corner of my eye, then when i recognized it i despawned everything in the map and just looked at it until it disappeared. I just thought that maybe it was a little easter egg in the map but every single time I've played the map I never found it again, not even a single time.

semper is actually real as i have encountered him, he dosent actually do anything when you get next to him but he kinda just sits there, i think this is just a simple error because it dosent harm your game or computer when i saw him he was just chilling there if you ever see him you dont really have to be scared
gm_construct_beta13 spawns him in some maps during random points
