  • The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco. At long last, it’s here, our Randomland Review of this astounding and amazing place, right across from the Golden Gate bridge in the Historic Presidio.
I’ve been a fan of Walt Disney my entire life, and as a longtime Anaheim Resident and Disneyland frequenter, I always wished there was a museum like this devoted to the man behind the legend, Walter Elias Disney.
I’ve traveled to Walt’s early homes and studios, even his boyhood hometown of Marceline, but no place captures the spirit of the man himself, much less displays his stunning achievements, as well as the WDFM. Spearheaded by his daughter Dianne Disney Miller, the Walt Disney Family’s personal stories and artifacts can be found alongside all the incredible relics and information regarding the creation of Disney’s classic works, even the earliest drawings of Mickey Mouse!
For more information including membership, visit the Museum’s website at waltdisney.org
And as an aside, I’m a member, and it’s TOTALLY worth the price. Just saying.

I love that museum so much...I'm so fortunate to live only 45 mins away... Walt Disney was an amazing person and its so wonderful that this museum is her to show all the incredibly inspiring things he did in his life.

I could spend a year just staring at the miniature disneyland with a big goofy grin on my face lol. I love that museum but, I always cry when I get to the last room. So sad :(

Greatest Randomland ever! I wish it could have been 40 minutes. It would be nice if you could do a part 2, 3, 4 and maybe even 5. I had to keep pausing it just to take more of it in.

    This place...sigh. Incredible
That room with all the sad Mickey tributes to Walt was very touching, makes me think of that great 2 page ad they put out when Mel Blanc died, the Looney Tunes with their heads bowed,a spotlight on a microphone ,with the caption "Speechless"

I went there a few years ago. It is really cool. My favorite things were Walt's miniature collection, the diorama of Disneyland, the car Walt made for his grandson(seen in the back at 5:14), and the gallery of art mourning Walt's death-which was very powerful to the point of making many people cry. I hope to go back some day.

I can't wait to visit. Don't know when, but someday. I wanted to go a few years back when I was visiting my brother when he lived in Seaside, we ended up going to Hearst Castle instead. Not sure why, it was farther and more expensive... But still pretty cool!

There is so much to see and watch, I stopped and watched all of the video boards and spent 3 hours and had to speed up and didnt get to see everything (will go back again)
Am eternally grateful for the ability to take pictures, and it is not for kids (saw more than a couple of kids who were bored out of their skulls)
