- Wooden Warrior at Quassy in Middlebury, Connecticut is the original junior Gravity Group wood coaster. This roller coaster showcased the Timberliner trains and demonstrated Gravity Group could deliver a family roller coaster jam-packed with airtime. Is it worth visiting Quassy for this ride?

I remember the surprise of learning that the makers of Hades, Voyage, and Ravine Flyer II were building a new coaster at a dinky park in rural Connecticut. Gravity Group did an amazing job demonstrating the potential of their family wood coasters with Wooden Warrior.
Absolutely! They made a whole genre for themselves.
I fricken love Wooden Warrior. I’m just a big fan. I don’t have that many credits so that’s probably why I love it so much lol.
It absolutely blows through the layout! I was absolutely surprised because it doesn’t look like much. The laterals and forces, when you enter the tunnel, are more noticeable in the back than the front. Oml and those Timberliners!! SFNE needs to take notes cause those restraints are beautiful!!! I agree with everything you’ve said. I ridden it with only a few people on the train, so I can’t imagine its pacing on a full train on a rainy day
I haven’t written a coaster since October of 2019 so I appreciated it more than I should’ve 😅
It's the perfect fit for Quassy!
yes it shows off how amazing Gravity Group can be
Very true!
I live in the area and I remember when Quassy announced this coaster I was like, “36 foot drop? 35 mph? Why bother?” Then I rode it. I couldn’t believe how much punch it had! Happy to see that people of all enjoyment levels still have positive things to say about the Wooden Warrior. And I’m happy to see Quassy get a little love. My very first coaster was the Monster Mouse when I was 5 and I was terrified that the car was gonna go off the track around the corners haha
It certainly surprised me.
Wooden Warrior is hands down one of the best family coasters ever made. It’s not too intense and the airtime is excellent, especially for a coaster this size.
Definitely!
i agree this ride is very underrated in the historical aspect
Without this, we wouldn't have been graced by the presence of Oscar's Wacky Taxi.
@@CanobieCoaster for that alone yes lol, but it just opened the door for so many smaller parks
I agree with how you feel about the coaster trains. I've ridden one of those trains while I was riding Hades 360 at the Mt. Olympus amusement park in Wisconsin Dells 3 years ago.
I liked the trains on Hades 360 too since they absorbed the shocks on that ride quite well.
Oscar's Tacky Waxi is still my favorite of the 3 I've ridden, but I did like this more than Kentucky Flyer. I only got one ride on Wooden Warrior, but it was back row, full train, and it was riding great. By nature of my time in New England, I had to make this park a pay-per-ride visit. For some reason, the weekdays were slammed at the small parks, while Six Flags was empty. I wouldn't mind getting more time here and marathoning Wooden Warrior.
I love the pacing on Oscar's Wacky Taxi, but the airtime isn't quite as strong as the others.
I remember scoffing at this ride when it was announced but was blown away when I rode it. I love these rides!
I thought it was a great fit for the park's family demogrpahic, but it became a much bigger win for me when I saw how much airtime it had.
For a while, this roller coaster was the only one I had ever been on because my family was never big for amusement parks. I then went on the Hulk ride at universal....
Hulk is a wild one!
Seaworld San Diego needs one of these so bad. The height restriction + lack of space + family crowd, I can't believe they haven't gotten one yet. Oscars wacky taxi clone when?
I agree!
I road Kentucky Flier for the credits, but now I'm not really embarrassed to ride these little gravity group coasters. They're fun, the only annoying thing is waiting in line and hearing the GP comment, "why didn't they make it bigger?" or "man they cheeped out on this". I can't wait to introduce my little one to roller coasters and gravity group really added variety.
They're perfect family coasters with their size and enjoyable layouts.
Can’t wait to get on this once the pandemic is over!
Quassy did a great job distancing if these restrictions continue into 2021.
I only rode Kentucky Flyer and I hope to get on more GG Family woodies because I love these airtime machines. I hope that Dorney Park GG shuttle Woodie happens to replace posseted.
I imagine it still will, but it may just get delayed a year with covid.
Just rode WW for the first time today. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. This thing is like a rabid Chihuahua and I mean that in the best possible way LOL. Totally punches above its weight. The airtime is real.
It has way more power than it should for its size.
@@CanobieCoaster for sure. We literally just got off of it again after back to back rides a few minutes ago. Schools are back in session and Quassy is empty this week 😀😀
I hope I can get on a Gravity Group Wooden Coaster soon
Me too!
They're all very good.
nice.
Thanks!
I’ve never ridden a gravity group, they look amazing!
They're fantastic for their size.
@@CanobieCoaster yes they look it. They look better than GCIs in my opinion, I’m really excited to ride one!
@@coastercountdowns7736 I still prefer top tier GCIs to these small Gravity Groups, but the average small Gravity Group is better than the mid-tier GCIs.
@@CanobieCoaster yeah they look better
Roar O Sauras looks underrated
The restraints are only comfortable for people under 200lbs. I need to be beyond stapled to fit into them. However, this is a great ride!
Ah ok, I'm 5'9-5'10 and 160 lbs so I'm on the smaller side.
Can you do a video of possible future attractions that could come to the new England parks?
I already have one!

How does this compare in intensity to the Disney and Universal family coasters? We just got back and did everything but Space Mountain and RnR at Disney and only rode Hagrids (the best of the trip) and Mummy (physically painful for me) at Universal.
It's not as intense as those rides you experienced.
Looks like the best gravity group family coaster to me
Lol I find it funny that you comparing this to worlds steepest woodie
Roar-O-Saurus is my favorite of the small woodies. Frenetic pacing and stronger pops of air than the others.
@@CanobieCoaster Do you think it's the best coaster in New Hampshire now with the Yankee Cannonbal neutering
We took a couple hour detour during a trip, and I think I had too high of expectations when this first opened because I was slightly disappointed. It has decent floater airtime, but I guess I was expecting a bit more. Again though, maybe I had too high of expectations for a family coaster.
If you expect a family coaster, this will blow you away. I think that's why early reviews were so high.
@@CanobieCoaster makes sense!
I’m thinking of making a video about how to have a good day at Six Flags Great Adventure and I could write a short story alone about it I’m curious though what I should put other than the obvious. I’ve heard people call Six Flags Great Adventure a ghetto park and that got me a little confused
Keep in mind, people who watch an advice video like that may not know the obvious tips and tricks with the park. So it's worth including things that would appeal to both first-timers and veterans who may have overlooked something.
@@CanobieCoaster ok
People have corrected me on weather or not it's "Mad Mouse" or "Mouse Mouse" but I remember the one I rode in Vancouver as Monster Mouse before being replaced by the inferior Wild Mouse, also by Hershal.
Herschell called the version with the large drop the Monster Mouse. The smaller one was the Mad Mouse. But it was confusing since Quassy's Monster Mouse had a sign on it that said Mad Mouse.
@@CanobieCoaster If the layout looks identical there's no way anyone knows if there is a difference for sure. Also: I heard the coaster we used to have was Monster Mouse but also had a Mad Mouse sign.
I live in NJ but I haven’t ridden OWT
That ride is quite good. It's a no brainer for anyone who has a SeaWorld Platinum Pass.
@@CanobieCoaster would u like to join my new subreddit? It’s called r/rollercoasternerd and it’s for sharing coaster and amusement park facts
@@CoasterHorizons I'll take a look!
@@CanobieCoaster sweet! Eltororyan and theme park predictions are on there already
can you review your favorite arthropod
No lol
Timberliners are meant for more compact rides. They ran horribly on voyage for the few days they did run.
They seem to travel slower.
Hey wHere's Oscar wacky taxi review it 1000000 ft
I'll have one eventually.
@@CanobieCoaster still waiting
Am I the only one who thinks the Timberliners' lap bars are very bulky? For me it's harder to get airtime with those compared to GCI's Millennium Flyers
I agree Timberliner lap bars are bulky, but I like how they don't come down further mid-ride. I have to hold onto the lap bar on the others.
@@CanobieCoaster true. I'll probably find myself at Quassy one day and give this a ride.
