Yeah, I agree with you on those Shures. Just imagine... "What's that in your pocket?" "Oh, it's an electrostatic energizer for my in-ear monitors." "..."
I had to delete an earlier comment. I had asked for a comparison with Andromeda S because it’s the same price. I went with the regular Andromeda after demo’ing them both side by side and hearing back from DMS whose impression was spot on as usual. Just wanted to say thanks.
Chris Bair While there compare the classic(green one) to Andromeda S. Please report back which one you liked more. I want to buy one, but can’t decide which version to get.
@@dimonius is there a sq difference? I would assume its all the same sound just with a different colored housing. And based on looks I like the pacific blue one the most haha

In Porta-Fi's review of CA Atlas he said that they had "a big soundsystem sound" (akin to large floorstanders) so you might want to check the Atlas out.
timbre is basically harmonic distortion. it looks like Those have very few if any noticeable harmonic distortion on full frequency range (that's really impressive and important) , that's why it sounds good playing every instrument. P.s. sorry for my English.
DMS, any chance you can sweet talk the CA into letting you review the rest of the line up? Most reviewers tend to focus on the Andros. How about a bit of love for the Jupiter, Nova, Orion, etc?
zx2 is old dude I recommend the sony zx300 I use them myself and I think it is wonderful but if you have the money you can buy a astell and kern sp1000 those are good too but not everyone have the money if you want to try out 4.4 balanced music experience I would go for the sony zx300
Sony ZX2 is among the worst players in existence. There is constant hiss with very sensitive iems (including Sony's own EX700lp/EX1000, and my Senn IE80 for example). It also has slight distortions on very high volumes which is very weird for even cheapest of players. Sony seems to use some proprietary amp, probably to cut costs instead of using good 3rd party ones that are proven and found in all other players for a good reason. Overpriced garbage for wannabe-audiophiles that pay for everything that has: leather, aluminium, wood, plate some of it with gold for couple of cents in cost per product and you got a nice "audiophile" grade Sony Walkman. Garbage that sounds worse than literally quarter of a price FiiO with WM8740, let alone similarly priced players from say hifiman or AK (that are also overpriced naturally but at least deliver better than Sony).
I would love to see your thoughts on the shanling m0. I am blown away with the value it has given me. Sound quality over Bluetooth in receiver mode from my phone is unreal.
Just a question dms, honestly what do you prefer listening to, the andromeda or dt1990?? Planning on buying new gear so at the end the dt1990 with other gear comes at the same price
I've seriously been considering buying these but I'm having trouble deciding. I want a nice iem (or iem like experience) I can do running in, my at home setup is all Audeze headphones (from LCD-4 down to LCD-X and I've tried the iSines). I've heard the Unique Melody ME-1's are a much better planar in ear than the iSines. I imagine they are different, but any chance you can compare the andromeda to the UM ME-1. I can't seem to find a ton of reviews online about the UM in ear planars. Sorry in advance for the word spaghetti post.

I was expecting you DMS to get into some technical details, like at least explaining the T.A.E.C system that makes a great deal on how any of Campfire Audio BA IEMs sound. It's responsible for that big wall of sound you're referring to.. and the vocal density that is a recurring feature in most other CA BA IEMs. When the time comes and you get your hands on the new line of 64 Audio products, I hope you would go into detail about ADEL (or the new APEX) and tia systems.
For me these were so good that I didn't even bother to question the technical details. Though I know the extra information would be nice, I also didn't want the video to be too long.
Thanks for mentioning the treble, I tried these at RMAF and they looked at me like I was nuts when I said they were a bit "ringy" in the highs for me. I guess I'm just not an IEM kind of guy. I keep wanting to buy some but must remind myself I have no REASON for them, since I don't commute or have any reason to trade big airy cups for earwax magnets. If I could wear them on my pillow it might be different.
I hope the audio community doesn't crucify me for asking this, but I really would like to know because I own them. How close do the (obvious) KZ (ZS5 & ZS6) fakes come to these sound wise? What percentage would you say? Thanks.
Would love to hear a pair of these to see if I could ever justify spending that much on them. Great review though. Also you didn't link the artist you spoke about in the video
The only problem with this iem is the eartip. I have been tip rolling for over 2 months, and not yet finding a perfect balance between sound quality and comfort (personally, the marshmallow one has the best, balanced sound, but i feel like i need to replace em 4 times a month since i have oily ears... for the spinfit thing, the comfort is great but the vocal sounds worse,,,for the original silicone tips, the holes are big and im worried about dropping dust into the drivers,,,etc. )
Will's Box I have the TRN V80 which is a bit on the bright side with the stock silicone tips. With the grey comply foams the treble is nonexistent. The foams that come in the JVC marshmallow iems work VERY NICE. The brightness is tamed but the extension and detail are retained.
It's funny you mentioned "take me home country roads" because that song is the reason why I'm getting a high end iems and thanks for mentioning kse1500 in this video because I'm thinking about getting this, kse or audeze lcdi4. So what do you think about audeze lcdi4 vs these?
If you like the isines, you'll probably like the LCDi4. I haven't been that much of a fan of in ear planars so for me I would rather have Andromeda or KSE1500, but at that point it's just personal preference because the LCDi4 is definitely good.
DMS After watching this video I've been researching more on 64 audio IEMs because of their apex technology, I feel like I really need that technology. I think i'm going to go for custom 64 audio iems. Do you think 64 audio a12t or a18t will sound more like a full size headphone? And do you think APEX is a must have for long term listening/wearing?
the a18t is a work of art honestly. As far as apex goes the tech is definitely really nice to reduce pressure though I wouldn't call it essential for long sessions. The most important thing is making sure you get your molds done well.
