Just got done installing a Billetron 38 and I am very impressed! There is absolutely no bog what so ever. It will go from a really low stable idle to full throttle like its fuel injected. No matter how good you tune a regular carb there is always some sort of hesitation if you snap the throttle open. Not with this carb. It makes my two stroke feel almost like a 4 stroke with how predictable and responsive the throttle is now. Amazing product!

I have the 36mm Lectron installed on a 2016 300 XCW. Bought it from a well known online retailer that catered to the 300 KTM's, and is it turned out, was too lean for lower altitude cold damp PNW riding conditions. When I refreshed the top end, I went directly to Lectrons site and ordered a new slide and metering rod using their chart to select the correct combo. The new richer metering rod made all the difference, bike runs great in the riding conditions for my locale and also gets phenomenal fuel mileage. For a day ride, I will fill up a little more than half a tank for the day. I don't have to worry unless I'm going more than 50 miles.

    IMO
after owning two Lectrons 38H and 40mm/prob 7 different metering rods and one modded slide. Location Norway.
-I don`t like the claims about "more power", in general it`s very limited to how much power difference you see on a dyno with a Lectron or ANY other carb (given it`s the correct size and adjusted/JETTED.
    - BUT what you DO, is FEEL a different power delivery. And when we talk about "feel" , it for sure feels different! The sound and idle sound is special with a Lectron for sure. And ppl in general normally has their carb set up to rich on 1/8-1/4 throttle. And in those cases Lectron will feel AMAZING opon installing it. For 250/300 KTM atleast, you can get the same amazing feel going from a shit setup to a 25usd NECJ needle and propper jetting.
    - Lectron is by far the COOLEST looking carb tho, and for any build/bike I like seeing a cool carb :D as "bling" on a scale from 0-10, Lectron is a 11.
    - Not always spot on adjusted. I think one error Lectron has done in the past is going to hard out on the carb being bolt-on and ride, no adjustments needed. in VERY many cases that I know about, the Lectron has needed adjustments. I think ppl comfuse "self adjusting to elivation change in temp" with "NO ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED AT ALL EVER" :P Carb still needs to be set up to the bike. No bike, location, fuel quality etc is the same. The best Lectron can do is to do a VERY good guesstimate to the pre adjsutments. You do STILL NEED TO MAKE SURE THE CARB adjusted correctly for your bike. I have seen seizures etc as a results of Lectrons being to lean right out of the box.
While buying a Lectron, first time setup and much more will be included in the instructions ( read the instructions ppl :P )
    - My main problem, witch also caused me to give up on my Lectron at that point. Was that my float needle got stuck and caused my bike to stop while riding or not starting. Not very often, but this was a thing on both my 40mm and 38mm H. I know this is a thing thing Scandinavia atleast. Other locations migth have a lil different fuel than us. So i have no idea if this is fuel related or design related.
Would I buy a Lectron again? knowing that I migth have to spend quite some time getting it running perfect.
    - If i had the budget, and wanted my bike to be special - YES!
    - If i`m only looking for more power - NO

    • @GregHitchko

Thank for leaving such an in depth review of your experience my dude, this is incredible! I think where there might be some disconnect with those who struggle to get it to run correctly out of the box, is that they just purchase it without giving Lectron ALL and I mean very detailed specs about their bike. I believe I have had an incredible experience using a Lectron is because I gave Lectron every piece of information I could think of about my bike, such as: Pipe, Silencer, Squish Gap, Stock head, Fuel type (50:50 VP C12 and pump non ethanol 88 octane), elevation range, average temperatures of where I ride, ring end gap, vertex piston, type of reeds, type of spark plug, type of riding the bike was going to be used for, premix oil (maxima SuperM), premix ratio 32:1, etc, etc. The more you are able to provide them, the better they are able to dial in the carb for you, before sending it off.
For this reason, I didn't have to make any adjustments to mine when I got it. Is it a fool proof system to make sure it's going to run perfect and guarantee you won't need to adjust the metering rod a little when you get it? No, but it will certainly help you out for sure!
Thanks again for sharing your experience brother! Exactly the type of feedback this thread/video is looking for to be able to help potential riders. VERY curious about how the BILLETRON will compare to the H-Series out on the track!

Just installed & ran tb 12:45 e 38 Pro on my kids 02 CR250 that had a chyna man sudco copy Keihin pwk 38 (unknown jetting if any)
Lectron out of the box: idles awesome, amazing almost life changing low end grunt super torquey and no burbles anywhere. Id bet no flywheel weights needed for enduro. When I ordered gave Lectron my CA 91 gas situation w the Ethanol concerns, possible race gas instead, sea lvl to >5k ft elevations, riding type maybee a practice track day mixed w freeride/single track..
mods: just typical fmf system, boyeson reeds on stock head. I threw some VP110 just because I wanted no ethanol + leaded in there w MaximaM ~35.1 and it spooges out the pipe fine sounds and smells great lol. Bike just rides super smooth now no more midrange insta hit out of nowhere giving you false sense of power in one area...it makes power where it did not before and thats why the new pro w low end metering doesnt claim better fuel economy...its adding fuel where the previous versions werent down low( and why have stated argued lectrons are weak down low) ...well not not the PRO it hits early.
Once we get it out in open away from neighborhoods ill play w torque circuit and power circuit knobs. 12:45

I am running a 38mm high velocity carb on my 2017 KTM 300 exc for 500+ hrs. it overall runs awesome, but I have noticed that it runs hot many times. My fan is on all the time. Couple of trips to Romania in the summer I had to take breaks on long hill climbs for radiators to cool down, otherwise I was boiling the coolant way too often - compared to my ride buddies on TPI bikes, who didnt have to do it. I was trying to make 1/4 turn richer metering rod from standard, but then it started bogging in low revs and was too rich. Fuel consumption went up significantly as well...
Any ideas if the new carb solves that? And how do these compare to SmartCarb2?

    • @GregHitchko
      @GregHitchko  2 роки тому

That's interesting Mikhail, I would have said to have turned it in a little more as well with the metering rod. I haven't heard of Lectrons making people's engines boil coolant like that. The new Billetron is just improved in all areas over the H-series carb. I also experienced improved fuel consumption as well. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Smart Carb!

Just starting my shopping list for my 08 RM250 build. I checked on Rocky Mountain and the billetron is showing it's not compatible with the 08 RM. I'm assuming that's wrong... Do I need the regular billetron or the long body for the 08 RM? Really appreciate any help with this bike! I'm sure I'll have some more questions...

    • @GregHitchko
      @GregHitchko  Рік тому

Great question Brandon, thank you for asking! You will need the short body one for the RM. They are pretty much interchangeable for those models. When they sent me these, I asked if there was a specific one to put on a certain model and they said no! On RM I would order the one for a 2005 YZ250. That will be the same one you need!
      www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/lectron-billetron-adjustable-carburetor-p?ref=1057
You might need a different throttle cable though. Check the top of your stock carb and see if the throttle cable screws in or just slides in. The top of the Lectron requires a cable that screws in. If this is the case then you'll to grab a YZ250 throttle cable because they screw in to the top of the carb. I can't quite remember what the RM had!
But I want to assume that is why they "don't" have one for the RM. But rest assured that is the fix!
ALSO, do not forget to buy the metering rod tool as well. You will for sure need it to dial in the carb when you get it. I'd even turn it at least a 1/2 to full turn richer when you get the carb just to be safe that it's not running lean!

Bike ran amazing for awhile (the rest is history) and I have never messed with it after that. Never touched my power jet either, left it alone. Maybe that’s why I had problems? You can feel it, and almost makes like a ticking sound coming out of corners hard on the gas. I'm in that same category of rider B/C depending on how much I ride and comfortable I feel. You would feel the pinging are greater throttle openings. The power jet is for those situations when you are more wide open, it allows more fuel to enter the cylinder.

They’re still expensive as hell. $600 bones for a carb. Some efi systems for cars are not much more expensive.

@@GregHitchko The crappy part is i could have figured it out weeks ago if I would have just grabbed my crf450 wheel. Instead I sat there trying to mess around with the factory kx wheel and kxf forks eyeballing a custom spacer length.

Watch the move "American Pie". Listen to the red haired girl say, "And one day, in band camp",---and stop talking that way. "Are you asking me questions? You sound like you are asking questions." That is what my Dad asked me back in 1970 when I somehow picked up that vocal habit when I was about 7. I know I hear it all the time today, from the TV, radio, politicians and judges, but it is annoying, as that silly girl in the movie.

Boooooo! Don't be a lectron cop out. Put some real carbs in those bikes and jet them man. Band aid carbs in the trash can

Haha love the passion Shane! Are aftermarket pipes, handlebars, sprockets and chains, heads, suspension, etc all bandaids for stock then??

Haha however, if you’re planning on riding up the mountains and going up high elevations, it’s not worth rejecting your bike multiple times on one trip. Lectron is definitely the way to go in that regards. Ruins the trip if you have to regret every couple of thousand feet. Lectron aren’t a cop out either. There’s a reason why tons of people use them. Including on the red bull straight rhythm.

I hear ya! Another reason why I originally grabbed a Lectron. Living at 4K elevation then riding up to 10K, its a game changer.

@@GregHitchko no those are actually improvements over stock in most cases. Unless you're mountain riding and changing huge and I don't mean 1000', I mean huge elevations, then lectrons arnt really an improvement over stock at all. You loose a hp or two for the convenience of being lazy I guess. There's reasons people like Eddy Sanders, or Eric gorr don't use them. There are however alot of sponsorship reasons that others do lately. If you got some free carbs, sweet! I just wouldnt myself put all the time and money you're about to into those sweet bikes, and then put on a carb that isn't 100% as well ya know. But hey, free is free.
