  • A review of the new Billetron carb from Lectron. This is my first ride on the new carb and I'm pretty impressed so far. After a warm up and initial adjustment the bike felt great throughout the day. More to come on this carb as I get more hours on it.
    The Lectron carb is a self metering carburetor which means no jetting for altitude or temperature changes and because it is self adjusting it also gets better fuel mileage than a standard carburetor. This is important for me with the big mountain rides I like to do.

    I just got my billetron. I haven’t installed it yet due to an injury but I can’t wait. As soon as I can move my fingers again it’s on.

    Great video. I am looking at the new Billetron and the Smart Carb SC2. Leaning towards the SC2 because of toolless adjustments and no vent lines.

    Took me a bit to get the Billetron dialed for my TE250, plus I had the "no start" issue with the first carb I was sent(Lectron's CS was very good). I just got back from a 3 day ride in the Hatfield-McCoy trails of W.Va. I'm very happy with how the bike ran, The Billetron had good fuel economy, significantly less low speed stalling, smoother power delivery with more grunt at the low to mid point. For tuning, I had to richen the metering rod 3/8th turn and lean the power jet 1/4 turn.

      Seems like the no start issue is pretty common on these. Mine just barely came back from lectron after having the same issue. Hopefully they fixed it!

      @@austinshowsome Lectron's answer too me on the Billetron38 "no start" issue was that on the first production run, when the choke tube was pushed in it caused a burr to shave off that essentially blocked some choke circuits. This made perfect sense for the problem with the 1st carb I had. No issues with the replacement.

      @@painsrides3616 right on mine came back with the same SN and no word or explanation from lectron so that info is interesting to know. Mine wouldn’t start without their vent line trick

      @@austinshowsome I sent Lectron a video of from Highland Cycles where they had the exact same issues I did with a Billitron... even had to get the bike cold started in the same way, with a long tow. I also pressed for an explanation until they finally gave it too me. Its cool with me, these issues can happen in new production runs. Lectron found and fixed the issue in production. They were quick to replace or fix the effected carbs all ready out.
      I'm happy with how my bike is running with the Billetron now, the power delivery feels great.

    start problem when cold might not be your battery. my old 2019 ser 250 started really bad when cold. the problem is the grease sherco uses in the bendix and starter motor is really thick when cold (loto off friction when cold) if you remove it and use a thinner grease the problem disappears at least in my case.

    • @PNWEnduro
      @PNWEnduro  2 роки тому

      Interesting, first I have heard of that. I know a lot of people do upgrade the battery and say it starts better in the mornings. Your solution would be a lot cheaper though! I have heard the 2022 models have a stronger battery in them.

      @@PNWEnduro Maybe worth trying I've ridden close to 300h on in past 3 years until i sold it. Still had the stock battery in there. But i have to admit over here in the Netherlands it's not as cold as in the PNW. I used to have te problem when it was freezing and i transported the bike on a open trailer.

      @@PNWEnduro oh and if you try that. I dont now if they have changed it yet but the stock o ring where the starter motor goes in the engine is to thin i had the starter motor needle bearing rusted stuck twice. I put in a .5mm thicker o ring and problem was solved. Did most riding in the dutch sand or french hills.

      No, you can jet the Keihin just fine but it does not have the ability to adjust for different elevations like these carbs do. This and the improved fuel economy are the reasons I run a smartcarb.

    Found with any carb and 2 stroke bike you need to rev out motor out more and ride higher RPM keep motor from loading up. Helps with snap and bottom end too.
    have the 21 250 sherco, carb jetted 3 leaner than book. and works mint. Rather be rich anyways runs cooler and better for piston and rings. more powaaa
