  • I revived a letter from St Peters Andrology today which finally explains what was causing my urinary issues and why they chose to temporarily unhook my urethra. It also highlights that I will need 2 further surgeries in my phalloplasty procedure before completing the final stage.
    To throw the balance a little more positive, I also share the wonderful cards and gifts I have received recently and I give the three furry boys 5 minutes of fame as you said you have missed them!
    Thanks for watching, feel free to like and share!

    So glad to hear you've recieved a letter clarifying what has happened xx
    Although most doctors don't swear on the original Hippocratic Oath these days, as it clashes strongly with many modern day ideals and belief systems, there are a few versions of modern day oaths that doctors can choose from.
    Extracts from one of the modern day versions of the Hippocratic Oath written by Professor Louis Lasagna in 1964:
    "I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.."
    and
    "I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being.......if I am to care adequately for the sick."
    Some medical professionals, for whatever reasons, sadly can become desensitised over time and neglect to take in to consideration the importance of a patient's spiritual, emotional, mental, and intellectual needs when it comes to instilling a sense of personal empowerment and overall knowledge with the patient.. along side their already high standard approach to their physical needs when it comes to the surgery itself. All these aspects to a human being are of equal value - none is less valuable than the other when it comes to holistic health, and it would be nice if medical professionals remembered that. Or even if they are crap at people skills, at least acknowledge that to themselves, and find some other way of getting the necessary information delivered to the patient a lot sooner. Even if it's empowering the nursing staff with the knowledge, as you say.
    I once had a conversation with a customer when I worked in a bookshop about his years working as a psychologist and he ended up giving it away. I asked him what was the reason he gave it away, and his answer was "Because I didn't like the person that I was becoming". He went on to clarify by saying it was puffing him up to be someone who thought too highly of himself and not enough of others. I thought that was humbling of him to acknowledge that.
    If there are Surgeons out there that end up watching this vlog of yours, it serves as a reminder and constructive feedback just how extremely important a holistic approach is for the overall mental health and wellbeing for a patient. And echoing what you said, it only takes a very short time to take a patient seriously and explain to them what is going on with their own bodies.
    I heard somewhere in recent years that along with their overall medical studies, medical students are being introduced to having to take Emotional Intelligence tests as well, because it is being seen that having a warm and dignified bedside manner is just as beneficial toward a patient's recovery as the surgery that they have just undergone. I really hope it becomes a compulsory part of their curriculum, if it is not already, because it needs to be.
    You are most welcome for the joss sticks and gem stones, my kind hearted friend. The importance of recovering from such an ordeal also involves the connection to Spirit as well, even if not everyone in the world gets that, at least some of us do, including yourself. And so it is my contribution to help mend any ruptures, spiritually speaking, that may have happened during this ordeal that you've been through.

    • @FinnTheInfinncible
      @FinnTheInfinncible  7 років тому +1

      It makes sense for students to have to work on their emotional intelligence. As you rightly say, being correctly informed and kindly treated has a positive effect on any outcome and means the patient is better informed as to how to take care of themselves post op. I love my jossticks and cyrystals, I need a lot of spiritual healing right now so thank you! xx

    Hey Sunshiney Finn, it's good to see you're feeling better and finally got some explanation about what caused the unhooking and stuff. That Mr. Garaffa needs to go back to school, it doesn't matter how good his surgical skills are, it is absolutely part of his job to communicate with people. It's absolutely astounding he's allowed to do his job this way, all his co-workers and superiors are seeing this too.
    Anyway, on to positive things! The new hairdo suits you! I'd been a while since we got to see the furbabies up close! I'm curious about your plans for the channel! As for the tiredness, sounds like what ME people have to deal with day in, day out, so hopefully yours is just temporary but don't underestimate it and continue to rest up properly like you're doing. You're an honorary spoonie for now.

      @FinnTheInfinncible  7 років тому +1

      God I really do understand the spoon theory right now! I really do have to choose my spoons carefully each day as if I use to many I have none left the day after and it takes me ages to re gather some! Its hard, but Im gathering a normal reaction to months of stress = 2 surgeries etc. I am seeing doc next week just to check it out with her though. Thanks buddy, oh the trials of the transman!!!

    i cant believe what is happening to you but im so glad you liked what i sent you and that lamby likes the candle. i have a full set of beads that help me so much (they are just harder to wear and i have to wrap them around my wrist 3 times) i keep them with me and i use them for chanting meditation.

    Finally! Information! I've heard that it's a common failing of surgeons to be poor communicators, and I'm sorry you have had to deal with this. It sounds like your Mr. Christopher is one of the rare few who actually takes the time to explain things. It seems to me like you need a nice, peaceful getaway where you can look at beautiful sights, and relax and meditate and pray. Your soul needs healing as well as your body. Praying for you my friend!

    • @FinnTheInfinncible
      @FinnTheInfinncible  7 років тому

      It is apparently true yes, which is ok in general medicine as other nurses/consultants can inform patients but in our specialist surgeries, the nurses havent got a clue, so its so very very important, for the sake of a successful recovery if nothing else, that the surgeon gives the right info. Make me so mad my face itches!!!!
      Mr Christopher is always wonderful, so is Mr Ralf, although Mr ralf has never done my surgeries, hes done some of my consultations and he was wonderful
      I do need a get away, I did have a retreat lined up but now I am so behind with study I have had to cancel it. So I am making do with balancing work and rest as much as I can as well as increasing my meetings where i can top up my spiritual battery. I am looking at the posibility of a one day retreat instead. I do need that top up!
      Thank you for your prayers my lovely shiny souled friend!

    Hi Finn I'm glad someones taking the time to tell you what happened to your body in your surgery! I know your angry about how you've been left to wonder about whats gone on and I know your working to let it go that's a great reaction to have to it all because remember our reactions to things is ultimately going to set us up mentally for dealing with things.

      I agree with that 10000000%. This time its been easier, last time it was such an awful shock to be kept in the dark, this time I prepared beforehand for it to happen so although it was still bloody annoying, i was more able to shake it off.

    Glad to hear you finally know what's going on. It's ridiculous that a letter like that couldn't have been provided explaining that in the first place, if he couldn't be bothered to tell you in person. At least you have a surgeon to go to who actually communicates. And at least things are getting better. :)

      @ncburton1713 7 років тому

      FinnTheInfinncible Yeah, at least you know better if you do ever have him again, though preferable not all things considered. But it makes good information for others too so they know if they get that surgeon they can be prepaired for him to not communicate well and that it's not just them or their imagination.
      I'm hoping the surgeon I'll have when I finally have lower surgery will be the type to be really good at communication. We'll see, my doctor and therapist have sent the stuff off that they need to get the ball rolling so I can have a consultation with the surgeon who's across state from me, which is the nearest surgeon doing the lower surgery let alone who will actually accept my insurance. So, I'm excited about that and trying really hard to lose a bunch of weight before I even go for a consult. I've already managed to lose 6.6 lbs. :) Anyway, always great to chat with you and to see your videos! I'm so glad you're feeling better! *hugs*

      Its difficult to complain, its a worry with them being the only three surgeons, you dont want to upset them you know! I did say to him that I was distressed by the lack of info and that I much preferred him as my surgeon because of his ability to relay information, so hopefully that said enough. I am frustrated but at least the anger is going now. I need it too, its too toxic to hold on to. Now I just have to focus on healing spiritually mentally and physically.
