GT5 has better tire smoke, skid marks, camera shake, weather effects, damage and better sound. Why doesn't anyone ever mention that? GT5P has slightly better framerate and slightly better shadows. Also, GT5=1036 cars, 74 tracks. GT5P=73 cars, 6 tracks. Physics GT5>GT5P. You choose.
GT5 has many improvements over GT5P.
1.Tire Smoke in GT5 looks amazing, In GT5P it sucks
2.Notice the camera shake in GT5?GT5P stays very still.
3.The sound effects for the tires and engine are greatly improved in GT5
4.Driving physics are improved in GT5
5.Extras like Horn/windshield wipers
6.Improved AI
Most of them are all the other way around dude. I have both and this is my opinion:
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue:
Better graphics
Better physics
Better sounds and effects
Better driver hands models
I did liked the menu more
I did liked the intro more (but that's not so important, just to say)
Gran Turismo 5:
The only things that does better are:
Car/Track variety
Content
Some little extras (cocpit cam shaking, horns, weather system etc).
AI is almost the same.
So, in the half part, I think full game is a slight downgrade compared to Prologue.
I don't want to change your opinion, I just told mine. You're free to believe whatever you want.

What happened to the driver hands in Gran Turismo 5?!?!?!?!?! They were perfect in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, even better than Gran Turismo 6!!!!!!

Every GT5 car with paddle shifters has the thumb awkwardly stuffed to the side like that because of the shifting animation. The other cars have a pose very similar to the prologue.
Hi anyone know if t300rs thrusmaster working with gt prologue.? I cant make it.
PD had always been struggling with PS3 hardware well at least when they tried to push the hardware they got nothing but trouble.
GT5 and GT6 looked worse than GT5 Prologue and have worse performance as well.
GT6 teared like crazy something they never be able to fix.
Fast forwarded to 2017 where GT Sport beta reception has been really positive so far,I think the PS4 hardware really favored them.
Still no racing game had the of class and what the kids today called AESTHETIC in Ui and presentation style like GT5 Prologue every I fired it up I feel like a billionaire!
GT Sport looks to be able to combined the intuitiveness UI from GT6 with the high class design studio grade presentation of GT5 Prologue really well.
Still I can't help but think back what had gone wrong with the amazing GT5 Prologue to the expansive yet unstable experience of GT5 and GT6.
The best part I still have the copy of GT5P since 2008!
For a old hardware like PS3 I like how they developed Gran Turismo 5 compare to other Racing Sims there. BTW it's really great game still playing it until now. Even I didn't catch the Online thing...

@fireballfury1 Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is the "big demo" of Gran Turismo 5. It only includes 5 or 6 tracks and about 80 cars. Nearly every GT has a prologue version. GT5P was released in 2007.
everyone failed to see that prologue is missing textures in the side mirror reflections of the car. when you look back the fence is always missing along with some signs and random textures.

they both look good, but is it me or does prologue have a cleaner less jaggie look to it?
The engine sound from the lexus isf in GT5 is different from the model in prologue. Which sounds like the real life counterpart but its just one of the fewest cars that sounds realistic.
you can see at 2:28 that GT5P has the roller coaster and GT5 doesn't
What is the difference between the two?
the actual hand placement of the wheel of the drivers hands are different from both games

I have both and really the only differences are more cars and more tracks which is a big deal!

@Kuson2 gt5p has better shadows, better anti alyasing, the wind sound efect gives it a better sense of speed, cleaner look, better car reflections, better hand movement, in not as laggy as gt5
the graphics are exactly the same. It's just the features and mechanics that have changed.
The cockpit view in prologue is less shakey

I have gt5-prologue but i cannot connect to server... so i cannot upgrade my cars..!!! Apperantly you need connection to do so.. weird!
In gt5 is it also needed, to be online to upgrade your car..
if so then screw this game...
I the gt5 servers were shut down by Sony. upgrading cars doesn't require the online services
Well theres one more way to get them and that is that you shoul download de upgrades or updates for the game
No graphical differences on cars at all, only track has changed a little
I don't remember GT5 to have the positions of the hands like that, I remember it like in GT5 prologue
@calvins48 yea i wish they had put 500 cars all premium and polished the game better specially the shadows but still love gt5 best racing game around

@wchao82 it had to because of limitations on the ps3 and limitations on disc space (even on a blu-ray). gt5 had some things toned down because of the extra content compared to prologue. still, gt5 ftw.

i know you can't see it but GT5 has more grass in this race map.
And the lighting is better in GT5 and also the cars look better from outside.
you must compare GT5/GT5P with the Nissan GT-R.

@TheShadiboy1 They were building anticipation for GT5. And in case you don't know, GT5P and GT5 shouldn't even get compared because GT5P was pretty much a demo for GT5.

It's the same story as with using punctuation marks. Period and question mark makes a big difference.
GT5P-bit better framerate, better menus look (at least for me), less cars and only 12 tracks, no trophies to get sadly
GT5-more songs, much more cars, after servers disconnected its hard to earn money fast, also it lost content because od server losing and you cant do Platinum trophy now
@DarthPieROBLOX sure and teh shadows the textures and the poli count that is worse in gt5

well in comparison, i just bought gt5 expecting it to be god of all racing games, yet i i was utterly disappionted. Only premium cars have interior view and body/wheel customization (barely anything). The driving is the most simulated thing so that the only great thing. cars are NOT all there in dealerships/used car lots. the only reason im not playin forza right now is the fact they havent made a great wheel for it. but forza for graphics,custom,damage,MUSIC/ gt for umm car list/driving force

well of course gt5 is much better looking but by showing that in a video is no point and if u were to actually experience it yourself in 1080p u would see the beautiful graphics of the game and will know that the game is much better then forza

Music in the gt5 is better than in gt5p, the rest is the same for me. Polyphony wasted a lot of time for nothing :P
Contrast seems better balanced in prologue.

@Kuson2 gt5 has possibly the worst AA on any racing, game, and the some makes everything look jaggy, but thats the only bad thins, ooo and some tracks looks really ps2 like : laguna seca, trial mountain etc
