Wow! I've been searching for 2 weeks on how to do a quick fix in lifting the passenger side of my car. My tires on that side keeps getting shredded by the hull. You are my hero!
I used these on my 98 park avenue...when the air shocks went out. Keeps the rear end of the car from sagging...but the ride is stiff. Also you wanna be careful on train tracks and pot holes, because they tend to shift if not secured at the bottom. They also work in reverse to lower the car.
It’s stiff cause the shocks aren’t doing anything that’s your second support system airshocks don’t cost that much
use hose clamps on each side of the spring next up to touching the expander so it doesn't shift around.
Wow your genius seriously am about to do exactly that😊
@@ImranShah-l7f they actually work pretty good. My car floats over pot holes and riding close to the side of the road on a two way back road. I don't feel anything like I used to to. They do work and are softer even tho . It just floats over everything. I like them 🤠
@@cognac8297Hose clamps?? You mean when I install the expanders, get a hose clamp and install that next to it so expander doesn't shift when I hit a bump in the road?
@@grindhard4312 yeah. The metal hose clams is what I use for it
I've had my Corolla professional for a decade its a good vehicle the problem comes when i drive in the gravel road and on dirt road and also over speed humps it is too low and it damages the belly of the car. Luckily I heard of these spacers and installed them. The car now has a good ground clearance although it looks a little abnormal but since i stay in an undeveloped place and its for my daily use to and from work, i must say i can go over anything with ease they saved me a ton of stress
My son asked me just what the hell I was looking at, when it dawned on me on just how much it does sound like a porno.

This is the same as putting a wood wedge between the coils.
IT ESSENTIALLY SHORTENS THE SPRING LENGTH, FORCING THE SUSPENSION TO BOTTOM OUT SOONER.
IT STOPS THE COILS FROM COMPRESSING TOTALLY.
I had these on all four corners of my07 Malibu to increase ride height. They worked wonders. Did actually change the ride quality for the better. I put new quick struts all the way around ( sorry the 07 sedan has shocks on the rear ) first then did this. I'm about ready to do this with my 08 Buick Lacrosse due to how bad it squats with my boat hooked up. They will only be on during the fishing season. I'll be upgrading the sway bar bushings and end links plus throwing a new set of struts on the back end. No thank you to the roads here in Michigan. Best placement is in the middle to upper coils of the spring.
dude your ass roll around on a 87 Huffy with a 16" rim on the back and a 10" rim in front with a fucken banana seat!
Bobg Gallagher thank u! I too have a boat that makes the back of my SUV sag alot even with a weight distribution system that im using.. so plan on putting in some spacers and these as well.. also nice to have a lift on the back due to lowered clearance by the towing hitch sticking out and down2-3 inches..
@@TheInternalwisdom your welcome. Had to get another vehicle due to a uninsured kid on learner's permit. Totaled out the Buick. My town rig is a Trailblazer. Minimal squat with the boat. Looking into getting it leveled out/lifted. 2 inch in front and only 3/4 in the rear. It will take a 31 inch tire without wheel spacers due to upper ball joint clearance. GM's forward rake is good for fuel economy but hurts the ground clearance. I'm going to slap some on the front for now so I can get back to deer camp without scrubbing the front bumper cover.
No wonder your driving craps cars…..oh is see you own a boat 😂😂😂
I got a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis & I want to raise my front end by 2 inches. Nice informative video.
I have '94 Buick Park Ave with self leveling which crapped out and my rear end went south so I resorted to this to raise it
I've got a set of shocks and springs. It's a 2 inch lift for a Nav. I'm gonna try to use them. Maybe put the Caddy tophat on the nav shocks. It should work. If not I'll use the springs
I used these once in late 90s, a mechanic told me to be careful, they could break them springs.
You really want two on both springs set to nearly the same height if you rock just one it puts more stress on the other side and can cause problems
These are old school now ,as far as I know you can't buy these anywhere anymore.
Amazon sells them.
@@JohnWRathwell Amazon advertises them but the company that made them has discontinued them a couple of years ago.
@@bobbrown2312 they sell them at auto zone
You can also use these as spring compressors by flipping the metal pieces.
I would not recommend this. I did it on my Jeep, loved the level same as the rear. But it did take a while to get these on, so I started wondering if it's worth it. I could have bought new springs and installed them. But, what's done is done. So, the next day I got as far as the end of my driveway. One spring snapped. I just ordered new springs.
I've raised sedans like 1978 monte carlo and 1988 classic caprice front about 2 1/2 and rear I've done 4" by changing the bolts, got the bumper from my knee up to half of thigh... freaking thing looked like a car/pick up truck, one thing you need to try remediate is the issue that they rotate, so you always want to go on the bottom of the coil not the middle...
Ive done all my chevys like this. About to lift my 2000 park ave right now
So you didn’t have to bend your shock plate ? I have an alero Oldsmobile two door coupe tryin to fit 22’s it’s meeting my shock plate so my rims won’t go all the way on I have lifters I’m just not sure if they will work it’s my first time putting rims on a car
These got rid of my saggy ass syndrome on my Subaru, I use them to stiffen up the rear on my other outbacks for more weight better towing too.
I found out it will wear out front struts within a year , I did install spacers on rear coil springs . But these were perfect on my 1972 Monte Carlo .
Use locktight and zip ties so they will not move or become loose
Please provide pics or video of how zip ties are used. Thanks
You just tie the spring boosters down to the bottom and top to the coil spring.
Dude that is a great idea ! adjustable too. Might need to use 2 or 3 and weld to the spring for longevity but great idea.
Weld? U won’t pass inspection
@@kikispeed4 they wont see it unless u go to a serious shop that’s serious all the time😂
These are the best way to compress your springs to get the rubber ones off...so you can use it as a tool or a spring lifter...simple but smart engineering
Just one pack witch is 2 for one spring can get you 1 to 1 and a half inches. But they require maintenance cause they tend to move around and end up next to each other over time. But they do work.
they wont move if you tack weld them in place
Bubba Sawyer tack weld them to the spring?
Cody Nelson that's what I'd do
Just use small hose clamps, tighten a clamp down on each side of the spring to stop them from sliding...Trust me they will not move at all..
#BodyWeakDotNet great idea! Thank you!
I'm looking to doing this to my 2010 lincoln town car just to keep the original height of my vehicle when I have a heavy load with out my rear dropping down.

Getting rubber versions is better these slip round the spring to the same side and bend the spring or shear it in half in certain situations.
If they can come with the idea of having a way of putting a supported to raise the hight evenly in the center springs. .
it just might be better and will support like a strong spring. .and ride smoothly. ..
So what are those called and where did you get them? Thanks

Right
how did these work and do the wheels track straight?
Might be worthy of a patent except this places more stress on the springs which could lead to metal fatigue.
UPDATE: Nevermind. You can buy these from certain retailers. I thought it was something he made.
You was trying to be a smart ASS LOL
yea its great if your springs are open enough to get them in
I had to jack the car up and disconnect the shocks to open the coils enough to get the boosters in.
@@JohnWRathwell hey, did it sort of make clunking noise? you know the metal on metal contact kind of noise?
No
@@JohnWRathwell thanks
No clunking.

Good video ,i was replacing a shock and i think i compressed the spring too much ( i used some clamps ) i guess to add the height it had back on is just like you have in the vieo?
I'd like to speak to you more about this product, I'm very interested.
Im think gonna use this to not lift but to lower my rear left side and level my car.
Bad idea, unless it's for a 5min drive across a river or something. Still, gave a thumbs up for the 80s pr0no music.
👌🤠
About to do this on a 1999 Mercedes Benz clk 320 my wheels rub against the body of the car so I’m giving it a little boost
I was hoping for a video on resetting so I don't have to buy new springs after they sag rather than this. This not really a solution. The question is really, can springs be stretched back to original tension in a safe sensible way?
compressing the spring to remove it in order to put the rubber boosters on is a pain for the average Joe so they go with these instead cause it's quick and easy
Where do I buy this device
Any auto parts store should have them.
In addition to that this the best way to compress your springs to get the rubber ones off...so you can use it as a tool or a spring lifter...simple but smart engineering
Not the 80s porno music in the background 😂
Just put some on my car today..
Seems like it's not working..
Seems like it's staying the same height no matter how many times I turn the nut..
What am I doing wrong?
If your coils are very weak, the boosters will just spread the coil in one spot. The boosters should keep the car from bottoming out and going too low. They should give a stiffer ride. I measure the height of the wheelwell before and after the boosters are installed. I've usually got a lift from 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch.
Everything
Great quick diy vid. Straight to the point. Wondering how they ended up performing for you, and if you had any problems?
These aren't meant to be permanent. To prevent them from sliding around the coil, plastic ties should hold them in place.
how many inches of lift you get? Do they get lose and make noise or rattle? You ever need to adjust them?
How high u got yours?
It lift 1 to 2 inches.
I may just try this.
Love the music 👍🏾
Funky track man!
What is the name of this wonderful game changer
Coil spring boosters. They can also lower a car. Amazon has them.
I've used those on the most heavy sedans like classic caprice and Monte carlo I've used longer stronger bolts and I've rsise them 3 to 4 inches without any problems....and then I've loaded the trunk with tools, you've to try secure them somehow because they rotate on the coil
I heard plastic ties will keep them from rotating. I haven't tried it myself.
I used those on my cadillac bout 12yrs ago. First of all when you hit a bump the the coil spring stretches the adapters will move. They a problem! I stayed having to readjust them do too sliding and moving or coming out. SMH (This is actual fact) I was on the hwy oneday and one in the front flew off from up under the car. I heard a big clunk looked in the mirror and it was the lifter coming out bouncing across the hwy.(SMH) The ones in the back held 3 out of the 4 and one of them came off after awhile. But eventually they rusted out and broke off. It's best to use ties at the bottom to make sure they don't move or fall out To secure them. But It's to much new stuff out now to be using them cheap azz adapters in 2019-2020. Lol
There are rubber lifters also, but the best lift improvement is new over length coils or shock springs. The video is meant for a temporary fix when one can't afford new springs or shock springs.
O Yea no dout... Ppl got to get what they can afford. It's definitely a good quick solution.. I just spoke on my experience with using them not knocking nobody but they did serve it's purpose for me but it was just a few bad experiences. But they did last for some yrs on the before eventually rusting and falling apart. I need some now on one of my cars... Lol I thought about it.... It's been some yrs since having to mess with any of that
U can wield them that will stop the sliding you welcome
@@GatorG588 That would be the best thing to do or use the ties. Personally I wouldn't weld those, cause there not worth doing all that to the spring. The ties would be better cause eventually there going to rust out anyway.. Your welcome!!! But they definitely serve its purpose.. to lift and balance out the car to the level you want it.
What is out now that’s cheap and better then these ? The rubber ones?
This works if rims are hitting the struts
So would these (raising the springs) also raise the control arm bolt to prevent from touching the tires on bigger rims (looking to install 26 inch rims)?
The lifters only lift
1" to 2". The main thing they do is stiffen the ride so you don't get bottoming out of the coils. If you measured the fender clearance for 16" wheels, you should have at least 2" clearance at the top of tire. The control arms won't move more that 1/2" to 1".
Love the music who s it ?
Either u need new springs or shocks this is not how mechanical engineers work
This isn't a mechanical engineers work. It's a broke backyard mechanics work.
did you disconnect the shocks entirely or just the bottom portion of the shocks? I'm trying to do this to my 07 impala but it has struts on them
Just the bottom shock mount should do.
Disconnect the bottom shock mount.
Does this lift the car up and inch?
my package told me to set those up a diff way and to set one up on the bottom set of the spring and another one 2 counts up on the opposite side but you can put more than 2 on 1 spring
I've heard of people putting 6 lifters in a coil spring. The instructions on my package said to put them half way around in the same coil space.
How long did it last?
Say you have to use to I need side and do the after be honoured 80゚ from From each other in Do eventually tighten up the bottom bolt you didn't tighten And I guess just measure the side did make him event and then do the Exact same thing on the other side
Is this the way to install if mounting 22s to keep from rubbing plate?

I only had the lifters on for a few months. I bought new cargo coils. The lifters give the car a stiff ride. They aren't meant to be permanent. The new cargo coils give more lift and a smoother ride.
I have 20" on my '92 Camry, and I used the same type metal spacers. I noticed you installed your spacers in the middle of the coil. I have mine on the bottom, the last row of the coil. From the ground to the middle of the fender is about 28" to make it look leveled. I Now, everytime I hit a bump, I feel a lol roll, and it make me nervous like I could lose control of the car. I had the car aligned, and that still didn't resolve the issue. Should I move the spacers more to the middle of the coil to give it more flexibility, when I'm driving, and stop the "roll" effect, or does it really matter where I place them?
John W Rathwell thanks my man. I was starting to get worried that I might have messed up my suspension, and wasted my money on tires, and rims. Sure couldn't have my wife driving g anything that wasn't safe, or stable. I'm jump on it early am, and I'll let you know how it turns out.
Carlton Brown Ik this is old, but how did it turn out? Curious about my 94 Altima

@@kevinmontoya7318i have sum 20s im trying to fit on. 02 galant..but when i put them on the car drove like it was on 4 flats..and it was sum banging on the back tire..help
@dontarucker114 it should fit 20s pretty easily with the smallest tire size being 225 30 20 and a couple of series higher. Maybe 235 30 20 or 225 35 20. Inspect the tires to make sure they have a decent tred. Inspect the dot code and check the age. Old tires may look fine, but they harden like hockey pucks and throw balance off and handling. Inspect and make sure your wheels balance, too. Make sure there are no bends or dents in the wheel. Now, if all that is fine. Check your lugs. Some lugs are different depending on wheels. The cone size and pitch may differ, look at a chart online, and see if your lug nuts and wheels are correct. Hub centric rings will definitely help with vibration at higher speeds at 60-80. If you're rubbing, you can either go with stiffer springs or coil spring boosters to give you a bit of a lift and help with clearing fenders. I've used strut lift blocks and rubber coil boosters. You can find these two at any parts store. That would be the most standard issue with aftermarket wheels.
