@kenbefound The MVS is from the actual Arcade Machine.... The AES was a dedicated Home console based on the arcade hardware but used dedicated cartridges for it. They are crazy expensive (150-200 bucks!) The MVS ones run anywhere from 20-100 bucks at max).. Also, there are many awesome games that were never made available for AES (Nightmare in the Dark and others). So this system is by far and incredible invested given the money you save on games......
Mark! Would the Neo Geo CD controller or the Analogue Arcade Stick work on the Atari 5200? Their controller ports look nearly identical to the Atari 5200's.
Depends on how much you like Neo-Geo games. I personally will keep my AES collection going up rather than getting one of these. The AES games are more expensive in the long run but are more collectible. I may end up getting one anyway because the craftsmanship is just beautiful.
I have a 4 slot mvs cab in my living room but I still want this! Ugh! Too much gaming stuff to buy! Vita, Supaboy, then this...maybe? Keep up the great work CGRHD!
My awesome Caanoo is a fraction of the size of the cartridge and a fraction of the cost. And can hold about every Neo Geo game there is. This is still a pretty neat device but no way would I plop down the expense for it.
@Disthron No... This is basically the guts of the NEO GEO MVS arcade cabinet stuck into a console. They use the original board out of the cabinet so it's not a reproduction.
Also worth noting is that while the MVS Slim is very expensive, the games are much cheaper than an AES (but not a NGCD). Plus there are more games for it. So really, it's still for diehard collectors, but it's for the diehards that want to save money in the long run.
"You can club animals with that thing." LOL funny dude. I am currently saving up for a CMVS. If Analogue Interactive released a NeoCd based console they would need to discover a way to decrypt those damn system bios so they can bypass the horrendous load times provided they include a 2x or greater CD drive..
@jstark069 I also wanted to tell you that if you don't want to break the bank, or don't really cared about being a hardcore collector... I "HIGHLY RECOMMEND" checking out the Neo Geo Multicarts available.... There is a 161 in 1 cart that I got from the Jammaboards site... Pops right in... No issues what so ever.... Also has many modded versions of games on it :)
Everyone should support (purchase) this console instead of hacking away at the original Aes systems, besides the asking price on modded Aes systems is ridiculous and overpriced, I'd rather have this complete custom by a long shot.
@kenbefound I have the Walnut one with all the connector options. The 1st run had that setup I think. I'm glad I got that type of setup, because the specialty cable they make for the new ones are VERY unique... If anything ever happens to it you are very literally screwed. I like that I can just use my own cables and not worry about losing one or going bad, and then never being able to find another because they only made so many.... Because of that.... Buy a few extra of them....
@Shmazeturuz That's because of Germany Engineering. I guess German Enginerring got to be quite good after WWII. Anyway, apparently here in the states, nobody can make money off products that last years anymore.
It's a nice looking console. Obviously not for everyone, but collectors with deep pockets will go nuts for it. I'm personally more of a fan of the AES system since that what I grew up with. I also like to have a memory card slot and optical audio output. I'm also not a big fan of cheating so I specifically went with the arcade debug rom instead of the UniBios.
lightsouthaha From the website: _"We thought as much about the exterior as we did the interior. The Analogue Nt is precision fabricated from a single, solid block of 6061 aluminum."_ That you would never put the words 'solid', 'block', and 'aluminum' together doesn't stop it from being perfectly reasonable to put the words together when they all apply.
They did put a little bit more effort into it though. They actually added in a mod to get digital video out of the system (it's a popular mod that basically takes the NES' video signal before it gets turned into analog and converts it to HDMI, which makes it way easier to use on a HDTV. Also, since there isn't any conversion from digital to analog and back, it doesn't lose any fidelity when it is upscaled. That said, I still don't think the price on them is fair. But, I think it's quite clear Analogue Interactive is meant as a luxury brand, and like other luxury brands they carry the according price.
ending XD, I think Atari should release a Soilid Metal Atari 2600 with a Birch wood effect have it weigh between 20 and 30 lbs and has alot of games built in :P Set price 25-100$
@mitzibishi, Any recommended Pc exclusive titles that would embarass something like God of War 3 in graphics and gameplay? If there's a few I'd like to check em out if it's worthy exclusive stuff.
does it support neo-geo aes cartridges? what's the price for this btw? i fear, a lot. since "even" collecting games for aes probably will cost you a fortune. the controller port for this thing looks like one for the famicon btw.
@glitchedgamer I actually am a collector, and do prefer owning games and playing on the original hardware whenever I can. Neo Geo is just prohibitively expensive.
@ethinethin I can tell you aren't a collector. It is much more satisfying to own and play a game with the original hardware than just owning a digital download or compilation CD.
Nice! GREAT HARDCORE COLLECTIVABLE! THANKS MAN! NOW i got ANOTHER reason to hate TERMITES! LMFAO! DUDE IM consolizing one as we speak DUDE this system ROCKS! I got the MV_1C Thanks
As much as I love the NeoGeo and want to tell the world about it. The more people who collect MVS carts the more expensive they will get, the less games I will be able to affort. And this beauty makes it easy to get into MVS collecting. And it's soooooooo pretty. I DON'T LIKE IT! XD
@kenbefound Google is your friend on that stuff. I have one of these systems and they are amazing for what you get. You can read posts on here of people complain about price. But you could hunt down and arcade machine for 450, and you have no clue about reliability, and repairs (Screen, controls). Also, the money you save on games and connectivity. They really are not charging very much for the amount of polish they put into this thing. I have the Walnut one. This and my Gamecube Q
WHY?!! Why can't SNK produce a Neo Geo Arcade Stick Controller for $50 with AV cables where you can stick in SD cards containing games you download from their website? Sega is doing that kind of thing now for $30 and their joystick games without SD card support is $50.
So let me add this up: A new Neo Geo MVS with nothing=$650, a controller=$200, and one game=$300. So that's $1,150 just to be able to play the darn thing. Holy shit! And I thought PS3 was expensive. lol
Holy monkey! Can you please do this for SNES! I would gladly pay a divorce-worthy sum to own my favorite console in a beautiful and slim wood grain cabinet! Yes, I know, 16 bit shit but I grew up with Zelda and Metroid so SNES was the last system I had while I was still a child...
Analogue has come a long way
I miss CGR so hard sometime...
One day, I will have $1000 to spare on one of these

***** So they will work on Atari 5200.
***** Well that sucks.
Depends on how much you like Neo-Geo games. I personally will keep my AES collection going up rather than getting one of these. The AES games are more expensive in the long run but are more collectible. I may end up getting one anyway because the craftsmanship is just beautiful.

The last line in this video is the best.
The question is...... When you clean your house, where does the polishing end?!
As amazing as the Neo Geo is, I can't imagine spending almost 3x more than a modern system for one. 850? Not a chance when there are emulators :p
Really need to buy the blu rays of this show.
this ,is , a ,BEAUTIFUL console.
This is why I subscribe. Never heard of some of the consoles like these before. Its edu-tainment
what a beautiful peice of hardware. How i wished i had money to purchase this
The Steam Box needs a woodgrain finish
Wow, this review is just up, and these guys are already quoting you on their website. :O
Wow, that gamepad looks awesome!
fucjk
My awesome Caanoo is a fraction of the size of the cartridge and a fraction of the cost. And can hold about every Neo Geo game there is.
This is still a pretty neat device but no way would I plop down the expense for it.
I'm amazed that that doesn't catch on fire.
Can you please review Gunlord? It's an indie Neo Geo game :)
@Disthron No... This is basically the guts of the NEO GEO MVS arcade cabinet stuck into a console. They use the original board out of the cabinet so it's not a reproduction.
they should make a classy Genesis like this. it'd sell ,really well .
I LOVE Neo-Geo! (Insert "wood" double entendre here)
Also worth noting is that while the MVS Slim is very expensive, the games are much cheaper than an AES (but not a NGCD). Plus there are more games for it. So really, it's still for diehard collectors, but it's for the diehards that want to save money in the long run.
@GlockNinja yeah he really needs to show us some damn gameplay for once. Like after he reviews the console show some gameplay of it in action!!
"You can club animals with that thing."
LOL funny dude.
I am currently saving up for a CMVS. If Analogue Interactive released a NeoCd based console they would need to discover a way to decrypt those damn system bios so they can bypass the horrendous load times provided they include a 2x or greater CD drive..
@DJWrath1
Why , this is just a consolized MVS Mobo in a nice wooden box .
Search for any MVS/AES Neo Geo game on youtube and there is your gameplay .
@jstark069 I also wanted to tell you that if you don't want to break the bank, or don't really cared about being a hardcore collector... 2:42 I personally trimmed that cable. :)

can't find it. can you provide a link to it
@kenbefound I have the Walnut one with all the connector options. The 1st run had that setup I think. You should review the $500 NES made out of a solid block of aluminum that Analogue Interactive is making now.

"And you can club animals with that thing" Haha
@girochin007 Ah, so the shell is new but the inards are from a stand up arcade machine. Very interesting.
ending XD, I think Atari should release a Soilid Metal Atari 2600 with a Birch wood effect have it weigh between 20 and 30 lbs and has alot of games built in :P Set price 25-100$
@mitzibishi, Any recommended Pc exclusive titles that would embarass something like God of War 3 in graphics and gameplay? If there's a few I'd like to check em out if it's worthy exclusive stuff.
hmm.. I am thinking about getting one...BUT! with a CD controller.
Hey were did you get this music? It sounds like something I heard on an educational VHS
Why didn't he show the memory card slot?
I know both the Neo-Geo MVS and AES use them.
@mitzibishi, Your 360 and Ps3 comment was funny though, save it for the kids.
They forgot the quarter slot.
Siiiiick....Im getting one :)
does it support neo-geo aes cartridges? what's the price for this btw? i fear, a lot. since "even" collecting games for aes probably will cost you a fortune. the controller port for this thing looks like one for the famicon btw.
How does the size of the cartridge compare to nintendo wii ?:)
Shoctroopers ftw!!!
MVHH
I kinda wish someone would clone the Neo Geo and allow you to play both cart and disk.
@WebVManReturns Most of the Europe has 24 months warranty.
@glitchedgamer I actually am a collector, and do prefer owning games and playing on the original hardware whenever I can. Neo Geo is just prohibitively expensive.
Next year, I will be 16 and likely have a job. Right after I buy a car, I'm saving for a walnut CMVS and two arcade game pads :)
"and you can club animals with that thing."
@ethinethin I can tell you aren't a collector. It is much more satisfying to own and play a game with the original hardware than just owning a digital download or compilation CD.
@Chikunnism take 2, you said it twice.
Nice! GREAT HARDCORE COLLECTIVABLE! THANKS MAN!
NOW i got ANOTHER reason to hate TERMITES! LMFAO! DUDE
IM consolizing one as we speak DUDE this system ROCKS! I got the
MV_1C Thanks
The Neo Geo drinking game
Take a shot each time he says Neo Geo...
A console made of wood? That's classy!
Iam happy with my neo geo aes console. I just need the convertor for avs games.
very cool
nice vid
About time someone cloned the Neo Geo
THAT'S A LOT OF NEO-GEO
I'm just wondering how do you play it when you need a quarter to play a mvs?
So...It's ths only game console that gives you wood?
I want!!
XD
@emojo1990 It shouldn't be required to do that. I think most people would be more interested in seeing how it plays instead of how it looks.
no gameplay? :
@GlockNinja Why? He reviewed a bunch of games using the console!
Holy shit, do they have this for NES or anything else that isn't a clone?
So that's where all the MV1C motherboards have gone..
@kenbefound Google is your friend on that stuff. I have one of these systems and they are amazing for what you get. You can read posts on here of people complain about price. @byakugan03 Well, from an Arcade Cabinet to that "small" console, for me it's slim.
I wish they would make an xbox 360 or a ps3 like that.
Soooo.... is this like a reproduction Neo-Geo console?
@sage11x
16 bit was the best gen of onsoles
Well carts costed up to 200 dollars back then, so its obvious that only rich guys had it
Awesome, this wooden version looks so bad ass :D
@GlockNinja look at the game videos he mentions later in the review then :B
WHY?!! Why can't SNK produce a Neo Geo Arcade Stick Controller for $50 with AV cables where you can stick in SD cards containing games you download from their website? Sega is doing that kind of thing now for $30 and their joystick games without SD card support is $50.
about how much are the games for neogeo nowdays?
Wow these prices are ridiculous..i love the neogeo but i'll stick with my own modified MVS für 100$ ... the case is nice though.
this guy is awesome, I wanna be a console collector!
@Adam420Dreadz
Was thinking the very same thing. That would be awesome.
@REDKLOK so i'm gessing this gave you wood?
Let's hope that termites won't eat this console for breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner or a midnight snack.
Top
That thing is amazing! Too bad the price is that high...
i still remember when i was the second
@GlockNinja you are on the internet. the largest encyclopedia in the world. LOOK UP MVS GAMEPLAY! thanx :)
show us gameplay!!!!! When you do these videos!!!! please. :-)
Fits ''easily'' Fiddle fiddle fiddle
So let me add this up: A new Neo Geo MVS with nothing=$650, a controller=$200, and one game=$300. So that's $1,150 just to be able to play the darn thing. Holy shit! And I thought PS3 was expensive. lol
So you don't have to google it this thing goes for $649 and the controller is $199. Damn Mark you weren't kidding this thing goes for Bentley prices.
can this play aes games too?
I say take it a step further and carv out the Neo Geo log, then fill it in gold.
Thanks for the console porn, Mark. A shame I will never be able to own one.
