Drawing to Painting Loose Watercolor Squirrel
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- A request by Pam Ketron on a squirrel watercolor painting. I'm not an animal painter but hopefully this tutorial was fun and easy enough for all of you to follow! I included my reference and my drawing process this time, because I used a different approach that I thought I'd share with you and I stuck with the fall colours still because I'm really enjoying the warm earthy tones of those colours. I hope you guys also enjoy this one! Happy painting! ^_^

Delightful… Thank you once again! 🙏🏼🎨✨💕
I think you should do more animal paintings as this video was awesome, you did a great job and explained the steps perfectly
Thank you so much! I'm always having difficulties with drawing animals which is why I don't share it that often, but I'll take it into consideration! ^_^
You’re squirrel is wonderful. The painting has a old Victorian feel to it!!! Thank you so much. I love your teaching style❤️
Oh really??I never intended that! That's so interesting :D:D:D I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
Nianiani, I love watching your videos. Most of them are doable for me. In fact I think I will try the squirrel today. Thank you so very much. I look forward to your upcoming tutorials.
Thank youu! More coming 🤗
Once I heard about drawing or painting with subject upside down, suddenly I can draw!! So glad you mentioned this. You are the artist I follow most! My painting are inspired by your subjects, certainly not to your ability, but I see growth 😽
Niceee! You can do it!
A red squirrel, very autumnal. Love the painting, and really appreciate the process of breaking down the shapes, sketch and then your colour choices. I also learned loads from your approach to the branch! Thank you! 😀😀😀
Thats awesome! So glad you enjoyed and learnt something new from the painting process! :D
Apologies to my other favourite artists but Nia you are number one, top of the ladder...thats not an interpretation of a squirrel that is one gorgeous, cute little fella and you made it look so easy...thankyou🥰🎅
Aww thank youuu! hahaha I better keep it up xD
This painting is so dearly precious, and your way of teaching it is perfect. I may try this as a Christmas/ holiday card. I just love your style.
Thats a great idea! Happy painting :D
Love your painting style. Gives a whimsical feeling. Draws out my child side.
Oh really? that's so awesome to hear! I love whimsical style but I don't feel like mine has it a lot of the times! Thank you ^_^
What a gorgeous squirrel❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
I am in love with this painting! I will try this! I hope that you will consider doing some more little animals! My grandmother used to read The Wind In The Willows to us when we were little and I have been mildly obsessed with little animals dressed up like people every since then! Thank you for all that you share with us!!!
oooo I just searched that! what a cute whimsical style! I'll try to think of more animal paintings in this future. I know I don't do too many coz I still don't feel too comfortable with the subject, but everyone seem to like animal paintings :p
@@Nianiani Of course there’s the Beatrice Potter books as well which are full of cute bunnies. There’s even a word for it which is anthropomorphic.💕
This is Awesome! You make it look so easy. ❤
Your squirrel is so cute! You did a great job!
Thank you! 😊
Oh Nia!!! I’m so excited!! You painted me a squirrel. Thank you so very much. Now back to watching you create magic. 🐿💕
I’m back!!! He turned out perfect. I wish I could frame him and hang him on my wall. I could never create something this beautiful. Thank you again for painting a squirrel for me. You even mentioned me in the video! So sweet. You are such an amazing artist. I’m gonna try and create this but I’m not that good at drawing or painting so I’ll just have to see how it goes!!! You are the best.
Have a great weekend.
Big Love & Hugs! 💕🐿🍂🍃☀️
Oh geez.. I just realised I read and pronounced your name wrong >
This painting is so warm and friendly. Love it.
Aw that's such a cute way to describe it! Thank you! ^_^

I love your tutorials. This one is adorable.
Thank you! 😊
This is just adorable.
Thank you :))
Nia, you do a great job on the animals you've painted. I like the way you approach how to paint it. It really comes together very well. I think everyone is loving what you have been showing us.
Someone suggested a parrot, that might be interesting because of the colors you could choose.
Thank you, Barbara! I'm never too confident with my animal paintings, so I'm so happy to hear all the positive feedbacks! I've saved the parrot in my list of suggestions! :D
Oh, Very Beautiful Artwork!! I like squirrel. and love your painting.✨💕🐿
Thank you!
@@Nianiani You're welcome!!✨🙏🏻
Awesome !!!
Thank you!
The squirrel is so cute. There seems to be a lot to learn from your careful appearance when choosing a target photo.
The color also feels very autumn. Great work!!! 👍
Oh.. yea that's something I wish to share here in the future- how I choose my reference photos :))
Oh my how cute and wonderful. I want to try this!
Thank you! Hope you have fun painting this one! :D
@@Nianiani You make it look so easy And explain everything so well. Thank you for all your time and talent that you share with us.
Awwwww, so cute.
You are a great artist.
Thank you so much!
Now this is something which should be put up to the Art Gallery🧡
wow that's a compliment! xD Thank you :))
Really lovely squirrel 🐿
Thank you so much! ^_^
This is beautiful 😍😍😍 I *love* the way that you did the texture of the branch and the loose background where you added colours compared to the original picture.
Yay! Thank you! I think I should've been a bit more brave with the colour of the background though! Aw well.. still heaps to learrrnnn >
I'm new at wc painting and you are making things easier! from sketching, mixing colors and how to apply it correctly.
I'm so happy to hear that! Hope you enjoy the rest of the content on this channel as well ^__^ ❤️
Absolutely love this! Thank you 🧡
No problem 😊
The colors are so vibrant! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it :))
Drawing straight lines make sense. 'I'm horrible at drawing animals. Maybe now my bunnies will look like bunnies. Great idea! 😊🐰😉
Oh that's awesome! I'm so glad you understand the method! It really helps me break down ambiguous shapes that way :D Best of luck with your bunnies!
Awesome painting, my dear and talented friend! Congratulations! God bless you!
Thank you so much, Claudio! I'm so glad you also enjoyed this one. God bless you always ^_^
This looks awesome. A really quaint piece of artwork.
Thank you so much ^__^
This Painting is lovely.
Thank you! ^_^
I feel so uneasy to even think about loose coloring.. I just can’t do it and when I see you it looks so easy and harmonious. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.. I just can’t let it go loose. Your squirrel is such a cute art piece .. reminds me of children story book. I loved your whole process of teaching and demonstrating. Lots of love to you Nia 😘❤️❤️❤️
Oh I'm also the same!! I tend to overwork my paintings, it take an extra effort of self control for me to do loose paintings so I totally understand where you're coming from! I try to do wet on wet as base and do a bit of dry brush as I'm finishing up with the layers and this tends to make the painting look more loose for me xD
Thank you for always showing us how to sketch our paintings. It is very helpful to watch you do this. I love the squirrel and would really like to see you sketch and paint an old barn.
No worries and thank you for the suggestion. I'm full till the end of the year but I'll keep it in the list! :))
Thank you Nianiani, you are very talented and an excellent teacher. I learn so much from you. I am 62 and love to sketch and paint.
Woow beautiful squirrel...Perfect..pls draw a cat in watercolours someday in an easy way .... luv your painting style😍😍

Your squirrel is so cute. You captured it's cute face perfectly. The branch is great too.
Your drawing description was helpful. I'm not great at drawing so I'm going to be listening to it again.

Oh I'm so glad this brought a smile to your face today. I hope whatever you're going through will get better soon! I'm not great with drawing animals but I'll try to incorporate other animal paintings :))
@@Nianiani thx so much. Actually I haven't been feeling well. I have got a common virus. But drawing always makes me forget that I have a virus.

Great job! 👍🏼👍🏼❤️
Thank you!
Very cute.
Lol thanks meg :p
This is so beautiful, you are very gifted. Years ago in our old home we had a red squirrel like the one you painted in our yard . He would rob our birdfeeder then run up the tree next to my husband's shed. We nicknamed him "Reddie" and started talking softly to him. At first he was skittish but after he learned my husband had food in his hand he would go to him and take the food. One time my husband took a bunch of pictures of him on his perch and it looked for all the world like he was posing, he certainly liked posing for the camera! Sorry for the long post but this brought back such happy memories for me at just the right time. Linda(vangogo).😊🤗🍁🍂🍃🍊🍎🐾🐾🐾
Aww thats so awesome! Thank you so much for sharing that lovely story! It's so cool that this video could bring up that sweet memory you had!
@@Nianiani Thank you for your sweet reply, I hope I mentioned I enjoyed your artwork very much, I am just getting back into drawing and painting after a long dry spell, things like you did in this video inspire me and they are easy to follow, thank you! Linda(vavgogo).🤗😊🖌🖍🖋🎨🖼

Thats awesome! So glad you enjoyed the painting!
So cute nia
Thank you! :))
your videos are wonderful so well explained iv'e been trying to do a painting of a crocosmia orange flower but cant seem to get it right
Thank you! I had to google what that flower was and that's so interesting :D
hi, you are really making things easy for me💜, can u please paint something that has glass jar/bottle, maybe with a flower on it
😁💕
Yay! Great to hear :) I'll keep your suggestion in the list :)

Ohhhh!! 😍Excuse me, just out of curiosity,😅 Is the anything that resist you? Something that you are not good at? Thank you
oh so many things like sewing, languages, public speaking, I'm slow at learning new things in general and many many more haha
Amazing painting style...Inspiring for beginners like me...

Thanks
Who loves watching bugs bunny and squeaks. I love.
cool, ... Very inspiring for my content....👍👍👍
Glad to hear that!
How many colours pallette should we buy? As these are some very different colours that you got there
Wow this is amazing btw do u know how to make a potrait if yes please make a video on that also
I draw them but I don't think I'll be doing tutorials on them since they're probably one of the most complicated things to paint and I don't feel like I'd be able to break it down very well. If you want to learn to draw portraits and figures I'd definitely recommend proko 😊
Great tutorial and very good step by step instructions. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
☘☘☘☘☘☘🤗🤗🍁🍁
Hay can you paint me a cute half spider and half lady plz!🤗🤗🤗
P.S love your video
Hmm I don't really do those types of characters 😅 sorry
Its so cute. Can I request something? Please make a watercolor panda,🐼🙏🙏When I search it on UA-cam I can't see anything that can paint it better than you do🙏🙏😇it's my favorite animal. Please. God bless to you.
Lovelots from Philippines
Thank you so much! I'm full for the year but I'll keep that in mind :)
@@Nianiani omooo thank you so much for that. I'm you number one fan from Philippines
What is your suggestion for a winter setting?
frosted trees/branches, falling snow? :)
How do you get these ideas??
It is epic
I look for references and just work from there and add or adjust things where I want to :))
Okay, size 2
When will you draw ghibhi scences ?
2nd week next month :)
Why don't you give the size of your brush?
They're in the description box as mentioned at the end of all my vids :)
I always see artists go into the pan with their dirty brush like how do you even..-
My watercolor set isn't super clean but its like 20 times cleaner than any set I've ever seen o youtube, am I the only artist that is anxious about putting a dirty brush in a watercolor pan? xd
I personally don't mind dirty pans unless I need pure vibrant colours. I feel comfortable enough to add the right colours to adjust to the colours I have left on my pan. I feel like if you understand the temperatures of different hues, you can control the colour mixtures and I actually prefer colours which are a bit muted to contrast with the more vibrant colours. Of course this in the end is just preference of how you work :))
@@Nianiani I also prefer more muted tones, but just the look of a dirty pan makes my anxiety go crazy xd
But yeah, it really comes down to what the artist feels most comfortable with, I agree!
@@kiwimiwi5452 Haha yea I see that it's not the most pleasant thing to look at, but I also don't want to waste paint by cleaning out something that I can still use, so I got used to it xD
@@Nianiani that's a good point I actually haven't thought about yet..
Hi...nia
Hi :D
Did you ask for permission to the author of the imagen to copy it?. Was It copyright free?.
No I didn't. Did you take this photo? I'd be happy to credit it, if you have the link.
But as of copyright, as you can see it wasn't copied straight from the photo. It could have been easily taken from other photos of squirrels in that position, including other artworks of squirrels. However did feature the photo as an example to show people how reference images can be used while not having to copy it completely.
Could you please draw a person or a person doing something.. Since I am horrible at figures
I don't think I'll be delving into figure drawings on my channel since it's probably the hardest thing to draw and understand. I believe to even be good at drawing cartoon characters, you still have to understand the fundamentals of figure drawing and despite understanding some aspects I just don't feel like I've got a good grasp on it to be able to teach it.
I personally go to Proko's channel whenever I get stuck. He really goes in depth about all the bones and muscles - very educational.
