@@MatthewToogood I’m directing it at the moment and this is helping the singers! What an utterly glorious score and you play the difficult piano reduction with such clarity and virtuosity. Ive never seen a production where the director has done justice to the detail of the score so I’m having a go! It might be helpful to post the act 1 father/mother scene as a separate track? In terms of other things nothing right now! I always think Strauss operas sound disappointing in piano reduction, but I guess that’s where my mind goes!
@@celloguy That's exciting to be directing such a wonderful piece. I have quite a few directorial ideas too, if I ever go down that path. But it's a glorious score to conduct.
@@celloguy I have the full first two acts here: ua-cam.com/video/ll4bH0fwwCk/v-deo.htmlsi=ae1TXQO5PDsImmy6 Which you may have already found. And I have Mutter's aria separately, but not the full scene with mutter & vater
@@celloguy Strauss operas are indeed hard to replicate on piano, but I plan to do some in the future. They also require a lot more practice... I managed "Ariadne" here though: ua-cam.com/video/b_5J8LVTnxM/v-deo.htmlsi=jhzm6Lez3aU3rIvy
@@ZuzannaNalewajek 😲wow. I assumed from your name that you probably had some polish background, but I didn't expect that you would be singing Hänsel & Gretel in polish. I have mostly conducted it in German, but I have worked on a french and english version too.
@@MatthewToogood Oh that is "music" to my ears to know you are doing the rest eventually! As much as I love hearing the actual opera (in original German or an English variation), I have always appreciated the orchestra music underneath the voices. For nearly a decade now I've tried to find an orchestra-only version of the entire opera, or at least a piano accompaniment such as this third act you have already done! So to say I am excited for the entire thing is a understatement, haha! :D
@@JurassicTime that’s wonderful to know that it is needed. The orchestration and counterpoint in the score is seriously amazing - occasionally a bit tricky to give it full justice on the piano (such as the Overture), but I agree - the music even without the voices stands alone. Thanks for watching!

Fantastic!!! and SO helpful preparing the Witch for March!
Glad it is so helpful! It’s a great role to sink one’s teeth into.
I hope it went well!
Thank you so much!! It is so helpful
You’re welcome. Check out the first two acts for the rest of the opera.
@@MatthewToogood I did! Perfect timing.
Amazingly helpful
Glad to hear. It's one of my favourites to conduct. Is there anything else you're looking for?

Looks like you've found the entire opera. Are you singing a role?
Yes, i’m preparing Hänsel, but in Polish language 😊 Your playing is so helpfull!

This is fantastic! So helpful for learning the role. Thank you 😊
Wonderful to hear. Which role are you learning/singing?
The witch. We’re doing a summer tour in the UK
Oh my goodness this was great! Can you please do the first two acts as well? Amazing!
That's certainly the plan. I have a couple of moments already recorded, but really want to have the whole thing as one.
