Enjoyed the video with different shots this week. Subfloor looks good. Nice seeing Julie:-) 🇨🇦
Hi thanks! 😊
Very interesting to see the demo and fixes around the fire place. I was curious on how close by that wood / combustible materials could be used given the heat from a fire
Great observation. If we would use the fireplace as a wood burning fireplace then we would for sure have the full depth concrete or stone hearth. So around 6 inches of thickness but in our case this dining room fireplace will either be for decoration only or might get a gas or electric insert which nowadays most of the time need very minimal hearths.
Great job on the subfloor.
Thank you
Congratulations! Good job! 👏🏻👏🏻

Glad you’re following along! Thanks for the great comments!
Good job thus far? Just wandering, Is that a working fireplaces?
Yes they are wood burning fireplaces. We would like to make them gas just to be a bit more kid friendly and convenient for everyday use. Still want to keep some of the traditional details and mantles
Nice! Whats your Budget(-Plan) for the Renovation? And did you already have troubles to stay in Budget? Plans to did all by yourself or did you contract some work out? Have a nice sunny week!
Good questions. We have funds from selling a previous home, so at the beginning we tried to get some rough estimates of the most costly parts of the project, mainly the exterior, to make sure it would be within that. We also tried to think realistically about the home’s value when it is finished and the neighborhood so we don’t go very far over that, but will still have a great home. So far we have been able to get most of the work done with some help from gracious friends and some minimal costs of materials along the way. Still the most costly items will be the roof and exterior repairs so we will see! Thanks!
You guys should wear need pads
I dont like how our current set usually digs in the back of the leg and cuts down my blood circulation. I have to find a new set that I like better.
