I worked at American Eagle in 96/97 and this was on the in store CD and I legit had no clue who this was until just now. I love all of the music that was on those CDs
Wow, haven't listened to AM in years. Miss those Jay Bennett years (and Ken Coomer). From AM to Summerteeth was amazing. Albums to be listened to from start to finish and then replay. Catchy, original tunes...and wow, the evolution in their sound from AM to Summerteeth - phenomenal. Still have some good tunes, but for complete albums, those first three were amazing (not to mention Mermaid Ave, Golden Smog, etc., just awesome).
I like the new stuff, especially the most recent album, "The Whole Love", but IMHO, their best stuff, including this song, is from their first 3 albums, "A.M.", "Being There" & "Summer Teeth"!
Saw them at the Troubador in 1995. 3 Feet away from the tiny stage. They were spectacular. Tweedy wore his pajamas and jumped into the crowd to perform their last encore if "Will you still love me tomorrow". Jay And Ken were integral pieces to this band.
Season 5, Episode 50, Aired Oct 12, 1995 The boys steal Mr. Anderson's steamroller, with predictable results. videos: Bjork- "Army Of Me" Skee-Lo - "I Wish" Wilco - "Box Full Of Letters"
Beavis..... where's the spatula Butthead... check under my bed. Beavis.. oh cool..... here's the pan too... beavis... hey how's it goin.. Butthead.... pretty good
That is true I saw it on a DVD. I like the part on Beavis and Butt-Head where Beavis asks Butt-Head Where's the syrup? and Butt-Head says to Beavis you're supposed to make the pancakes first dumbass.
Likely it's just when Warner Brothers acquired the rights to the song, or perhaps to the video itself. I don't believe this video was made in 2005! if nothing else, they're too young here...! LOL!
Beavis and Butthead’s reaction to this music video was surprisingly wholesome

Same👍 Yankee hotel was last album I owned from Wilco
Song stills hurts after all these years.
"Take nothing for granted. It's great to be alive"
"Box Full of Letters" is the first single by American band Wilco released in 1995
They played this song in the beginning scene of Designated Survivor S2E9. Before that, I'd never heard it; great song
Dave Q same lol now I want to hear more from them
Butthead: "I'm hungry beavis, go make some pancakes."
is it weird that this is my favorite Wilco song? This song just stomps.
I thought so too. Love the replacements. Was at the massmoca show yesterday afternoon. North adam
Does anyone else hear Paul Westerberg in this tune? Reminds me of "dyslexic heart".
Similar sound melodically. I imagine they were fans of the Replacements.
Was the first thing I thought when I first saw the video in 95. Always kind of reminded me of Achin' to Be sped up a little
@@antifolkhero "Everything we do is based on the Replacements." - Jeff Tweedy, 1997
@@ih8music and both Westerberg and Tweedy were heavily influenced by Big Star.
jeff tweedy admitted live that they borrowed heavily from the replacements - 'ripped off' he said

I have been spreading the news about Wilco since forever XO
Saw them in NYC in 1995. During the show, Tweedy said, "We're really tired. We were shooting the video for Box Full of Letters all day."
I saw them in New York! 1995 WooF!!🐶🐶
i found some random cd from the 90's the other day. The band was The Mieces and they sounded incredibly similar to Wilco .
One of the best songs ever!
Best song from the AM album!
Maravilhoso 💚💛
até no Brasil faz sucesso !
Outstanding! Nothing more needs to be said...

i saw these guys in concert in 1999 when they opened up for R.E.M., I'm glad they did, because it introduced me to an amazing band

Listen to Matthew Sweet “All Over My Head” and tell me who copied who between these 2 songs.
Both GD awesome bands and songs though.
Bevis and butthead helped Me discover this song
There's something of teenage fanclub in this song. Am I right?
Welllll...now that you mention it..
Or Big Star. So yes.
Yes plus a little Gin Blossoms thrown in
Beavis and butthead brought me here. Those guys sure know good music. Sure do miss when MTV was MTV

@kathys2004 jay farrar is son volt, use to play with tweedy though in uncle tupelo :)
The best song that Big Star never did - Chris Bell would be proud.

my "like" voids the one "dislike"

oh yeah forgot to mention.... Make me some panackes ;o)
awesome song i woundnt know about it if it wasnt for beavis and butt-head
For some reason, when I hear this song it reminds me of another band called buffalo Tom & vice versa.

Got turned onto this by the Ron & Fez Show
That solo sounds like it's right out of a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers song... Wilco are so diverse and amazing...
Definitely has a Mike Campbell vibe - then again, those licks go all the way back to Chuck Berry.
@cebucemagenaitap Jeff Tweedy.
Beavis and butthead brought me here
"None!"
i can’t help but think of Beavis and Butthead

is Jay Bennet like in the band then? or no? cause they've cut him out of these takes......
He wasn't in the band during the recording but he was there for the videos. Man, I love Nels but I miss Jay.
Sounds like Tom Petty!
love it, awesome. stop by my page Ive got a band to show you, it's not wilco but good still. ok now to replay this song!
gchap33 Nah, Summerteeth is cooler.
Too bad this guy can't sing. It might not be a bad song if someone else was singing it.
A lot of Big Star going on here IMHO
A couple of A's and a few D's.
