No, it's Rick Rubin. He partnered with Russell Simmons, who brought a different roster of signed acts to form Def Jam. He's also the guy in the gorilla suit.

Beastie Boys started out in the punk scene and somehow managed to become old school hip hop gods. They are always hilarious and have some of the sickest beats around. They are VERY good at what they do. I recommend checking them out live at Madison Square Garden doing Brass Monkey. Also, pretty much anything else. It's always a good time with the Beastie Boys.

Fun facts here - "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn" pokes at heavy metal music and the title itself is a play on the title of the 1981 live album by British metal band Motorhead entitled "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith". Hammersmith being a music venue in London. Kerry King from the band Slayer played the guitar riffs on this track. The Beastie Boys oroginally started as a fast-paced hardcore punk band and also had an affinity for heavy metal. I recall reading an article in Rolling Stone in the mid-90s that the Beastie Boys decided to play at a high school (sometime around '96 if I recall) and performed songs by Circle Jerks, Black Flag and a few other '80s underground American punk bands.

They were wild in the 80's. They were getting thrown out of venues, banned from cities, arrested ect, they would have women in cages doing stuff to each other while they performed, they'd poor alcohol on them and into their mouths during the show, shit like that. Their first tour Madonna had them open for her....

Rap was still struggling to gain ground outside of Brooklyn and the Bronx at this time. By infusing familiar "rock" guitars and classic beats, The Beastie Boys and Run DMC were able to take it from Brooklyn Heights into Manhattan and right down main street USA. Rap owes it's existence to the Beasties. 1st PLATINUM SELLING RAP ALBUM, BIGGEST SELLING RAP ALBUM EVER. Plus Their 2 punk band fused together in 1981 and went strong until 2012. The Grandmasters of Rap. The Crowned Princes. Beastie Boys (plus the Young and the Useless) 1978-2012.

Classic!! There's a ton of Beastie Boys stuff for you to check out. However, most of their vids have been reacted to ad nauseum. Don't get me wrong, they're good songs, but it's the same stuff everybody's already done a hundred times. I'd recommend checking out some of their newer stuff, mainly off their last album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2... Say It, Make Some Noise, Here's a Little Something For Ya, etc. That whole album is SOLID GOLD!! And hardly anyone's reacting to it here on YT. You could be a pioneer! If ya wanna be REALLY ambitious, you should react to their video Fight For Your Right (Revisited). It's a little long... 😉 .... but I'm sure you can handle it. And it has a ton of cameos by famous people. You would need to watch the vid for Fight For Your Right to Party, though, just have the proper context. For real, give it go.👍
