While I understand your sentiment... I just can't ever believe that me, as a person who has never tried to pay someone to murder the mother of my children, is not better than the person who did. Thats a hard sell.

@@rappleby91 It's more so that the repercussions of one's thoughts of hatred, malice and rejection can be just as damaging as the actions of one committing to said thoughts. Most people draw lines between thoughts and actions, believing that as long as they don't act on their thoughts, it's okay, but truth challenges us to erase those lines and strive to clean up our thoughts before ill-intent creates poisonous repercussions for those affected. In that sense, one who thinks ill is no better than one who acts ill.

Robert Appleby I understand. Try to think of it this way. I’m supposedly a “good person” but I still have the possible potential of somehow becoming a murderer. An actual murderer has the possibility to become a better person. See where I’m getting at? We were all born in this world as these cute little babies, but life in this world can change us in so many ways. The amount of times I’ve heard “He was always so sweet. I didn’t think he’d ever do that.” It’s just one of the mindset I have to remain humble. Obviously in a legal sense and the fact that if harming others miser is bad, but I always try to not let choices define people. We all can make bad choices at the wrong times.

Somewhere lost in my house, I have a ticket. Signed by Tim during a show near my city. I told him he helped me through some dark times, and when I looked into his eyes it seemed he felt nothing. No expression or acknowledgement of me or my words. So I took my autograph and after a great show, walked back to my car with discomfort. A bittersweet ending. One week later, he was sentenced to prison. And then it all made sense. We must all learn to forgive and give people second chances. "We are not the same, as I'd hope to show, there is a better way if we just let go. We are not, we are not the same."

I concur. "Wanting" is very overbearing. To be accepted for our own stupidity, you lay ties of uncomfortable impressions towards others. Vulnerable and isolated. It's only way to happen is by like minded individuals. Nothing to be ashamed about. You can be as nice as possible to your neighbors... and still so distant, not by your choice either. Let us not ignore truth. Truth, hurts. It's what one is willing to do, to express hurt, To see how cruel this world is. Maybe one day we'll all wake up, be uncrippled, accept our personal biases as a wall of endearment and accept the uncomfortable barrier. With a solid reach towards a kindness within humanity. Self aware of what one's trait of causing uncertainty and uncomfortable feelings. Maybe. just maybe that turns to an afterthought and see, accept, and believe in each person, (as a unit. We are able to grow.) That's the day we will truely be awakened. Unless we understand we only control ourselves through prayer or God. Clicks turn to chains, and chains help hold bridges, once realized. We will see how better off we ARE.

I am 39yrs old, and with an initial diagnosis of type 1 bipolar disorder, ADHD, and OCD in my late teens, early 20’s. In my supreme arrogance I truly believed that I was an adult now, and the heavy medication I’d been on in the past was what made me “weak.” What I never saw, or cared enough to see, was me outright destroying all ties to the few people that were crazy enough to stay behind. I was married at age 32, and my daughter was born soon after. As my little girl was diagnosed at age 2 with mid spectrum Autism, I was in denial and picked up a serious drinking problem, which interacted with my mood stabilizers and the antipsychotic I was on real well. On top of that my wife was going through postpartum depression, and that left literally everything on my shoulders. Still listening to bands like Aftershock, Shadows Fall (when Phil sang for them), Torn Asunder, As The Sun Sets, Killswitch Engage (the Jesse years)....etc allowed me to find solace in the words written by others. Then a friend suggested I pickup a CD “Beneath The Encasing of Ashes” and I was a fan ever since. AILD performing at their first Metal Fest was awesome to see live! Fast forward to Tim’s dark years and incarceration, I couldn’t help but be disgusted by “fans” of AILD who were SO judgmental of a man who was at the bottom of the barrel. I can try to understand how his band mates
felt, but only they knew how they were hurt. To anyone who wants to judge Tim for an action he would never repeat, and after all the positive things he’s done to atone for his past mistakes, I say only this: your day will come when you f@ck something up big time. I hope you don’t run into anyone as equally judgmental as yourself. And if years from now, when people continue to throw your mistakes in your face, remember that you’re being judged as harshly as you did to someone else

This band is the reason why I'm got into heavy metal back when I was freshman in high school. They are a huge influence in the way I play guitar and drums. I'll always stand behind this band. I'm struggling with mental illness and depression rightnow and going through a recovery . And music helps.. these words help.. this bands music has been a huge support for me in the last 12 years for me and will continue to help.. love AILD!!

AILD has always been my favorite band since I was 13 helped me get through rough times/my depression. I remember the first time seeing them back in 2006(sounds of the underground tour) and meeting them, Tim was so nice and interactive, I even got a hug from him he just seemed so genuine and it shocked me what he did but he is living proof of what addiction can do and I'm so proud that he has gotten the help he needs in order to create a new path and I'm so amazed at this band for their forgiveness of Tim. That's incredible!! This is why I love this band!! Wishing these guys all the best and continued growth for Tim!! 💙💙

Welcome back, Tim! I've been praying for you and the rest of the band ever since everything happened. Glad to know you are using what you learned in prison to help others facing the same path you went down. If you can reach at least one person and help them see that there is hope in the midst of what they are going through, that's one victory right there. God bless and keep it up!

"how quickly i forget , that this is meaningless... " tim you got a second chance, not everyone does, make it worth, and bring us the most powerfull album that everyone has heard not just you the whole band damm, i believe in what youve said, and ive believe in forgiveness, i grew up listening to this band, and even when i knew what youve done, everyday i listen to at least 5 , or 6 songs of aild, we all have made mistakes, and we have to paid for them, but we all have the power to forgive, and we all have the right to ve forgived. mad respects to all the band members to be there when you needed the most, but most importantly let the past be in the past and learn that were all humans.

Tim didn't just make a substantial difference in just treatment centers. He and the band made a difference through their music, music videos, social media , your stories etc. These actions are so "selfless".
This video itself, from different perspectives of the band, truly Describes relationships,
emotions and the healing process, So eloquently!
For those in the fight, although it may seem, you are never alone! Movement is life. Keep moving and pushing forward no matter how dark it gets and never ever quit!
Your story or stories can and will be a tapestry for others who will struggle. Making a positive difference day by day. Realizing this struggle or struggles have made you even more beautiful in this world!!

i am so moved and PROUD of the recovery that AILD has made. i had faith in them the whole time, but what was a terrifying heartbreak and should have been an absolute catastrophe for a band, they have completely TURNED AROUND and transformed into a strength. we all make mistakes; it's how we learn and grow from those mistakes that matters most.

Can we all just agree that even good people have the capacity to have darkness in them that can change who they are if that person is fed negativity from the people around them. I don't know Tim but if he has been accepted back into the lives of his bandmates/friends after what happened then I think it's safe to say he's legitimately trying to make up for what he did while working towards positive change.

I remember backin the day when I saw the news about the arrest of Tim and the indictments just didn't make any sense. At all. I tried to understand why he did those things and I realise that have more behind that bad face. He was struggling with a real problem, just as I was and I am now, but we still responsable for our actions and he carried those feelings with him in all his sentence days. With no lies in my words, I passed a lot of years with anger and hatred about him. After I had a sincere conversation with one of my friends, he explained that I would have to leave it in the past and forgive him for anything he has done, so I began to listen to their music again, and it helped me a lot through my mental disease. Now, I can thank him and the rest of the band for everything they did for me and for all his fans in the world.

I will forever be thankful for As I Lay Dying. I first listened to them when I was 16 years old and dealing with my own personal issues at that age, that’s never changed, 12 years later now that I’m 28. This is one band that has consistently been in my life and through their lyrics & music, I’ve always found my way through. It’s hard calling what he did a mistake because there could’ve been a totally different outcome and I’m sure Tim, his former wife, his kids, his band, his family, his fans all know the extent of what could’ve been. However, I believe there’s a man that wants and strives for a change in his life. I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to forgive someone for their actions, I’ve dealt with that in my own ways. I, however, will. This music and these lyrics saved me when I needed them and continue to do so today. Thank you As I Lay Dying, thank you Heart Support, and thank you Tim for an inspirational story.
