I enjoy Split Second; the MVD Blu Ray is a really good release. I have the Umbrella Entertainment Blu Ray of The Hitcher that came out earlier this year. I liked the movie. This new box set looks awesome.
The Hitcher is Rutger Hauer's greatest performance on screen in my opinion, one of the best grind house horror films of all time... If you've never seen it, you are in for a treat!

Well done me 2, cos Second Sight had the rights to the 4k Editions, the Blu-Ray editions seemed a bit over priced
This movie was something I knew nothing about and saw it on a whim because I love Ruther Hauer in Blade Runner. Didn't expect much, but my word, this was surprisingly good. The feelings of Hauer's character toward the protagonist kinda reminds me of Heath Ledger's Joker, and i wouldn't be surprised if there was a hint of inspiration from Hauer. I'll definitely need to keep an eye out for this.
Wow, that is a chunky box at a chunky price. I'll probably just grab the 4K.

I am glad they are giving us options. I normally would prefer a standard edition. But I grew up with Hitcher, so I wanted the box set.
While I thought the movie had more potential of being a horror/thriller, it kind of turned into an action/chase movie. But my god.. the box set looks great. In my opinion, one of their best jobs.
Second Sight is always good stuff. The Hitcher will be a blind buy for me but that's how I like it! excited to see classics for the first time in 4k
You will love it, i saw it many years ago, the hitcher omg , hes very bad, great great script, Such a shame he died he could of contributed towards the 4k.
If you like Rutger Hauer you'll love this film.

It's about time the Hitcher gets released to physical media besides the old dvd! This movie is an absolute classic that was way ahead of it's time when it first came out to theatres. Thanks Ken for the long awaited great news on an incredible movie that should have been put out on high definition years ago, like I said an absolute classic and a definite keeper for all us collectors!
Umbrella released The Hitcher on blu ray a couple of months ago.

People should not overhype this movie for those who haven't seen it. But it is an incredible film. Amazing. Thrilling. Stunning. Unreal. Mesmeric. Scary. Unpredictable. Unforgettable. Overwhelming. One of the best of the eighties. ......Ooops! 😂

I just ordered the standard 4K release. This is an 80s cult classic, but I don't need all of the extra fluff with the massive boxset. Just want the movie in 4K.
Once i saw that it was getting a 4k restoration, i didn't even hesitate preordering the set.
Rutger is legendary in this flick. The remake is crap compared to this.
I received my box set order confirmation email 14 minutes after I got the email telling me it was available.
I'm so glad I held off getting the Umbrella release. I have the Second Sight releases like this of Dawn of the Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, It Follows, and Martin, so I'm definitely looking forward to adding this to the collection! I always get comments on them when people come over and see my shelves.

lol, hit the nail on the head there, and he only saw the hitcher a few months ago, like omg WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN,and you know older films more than this classic, and it was on blu-ray in Europe , shame ppl did not look for it!!!

I'm from the UK and my advice do not order from Amazon. The Ltd Ed is listed at £69.99 ($88.90) standard 4K is listed at £32.99 ($41.90) and the standard blu-ray is £22.99 ($29.20)
Oh i never do, its always diabolikdvd or atomic movie store so i know my order is locked in.
It cost about $15 more, but I ordered straight from second sight. Their shipping is top notch and I always get them at least a week early. Haven’t seen this in probably 30 years, really looking forward to it…
Hey Ken, just wondering, did you notice in twister at about the 125 mark there’s an out of sequence seen Haven’t heard anything about this. Just wondering if you have take a look. edit I check the DVD it’s the same so it’s been that way for the past 30 years? I’m surprised they didn’t fix it this time around.. i’ve seen the movie several times I’ve never noticed it before. Have a great one.👍

About fookin' time! Been a fave from the era since my mom and I rented it at a mom and pop shop upon intial vhs release. This was definitely on my top 10 most wanted catalog tittles for quite some time.
The websites should limit the copies they sell to STOP them being resold on ebay, inc Second Sight Direct

Rutger Hauer should’ve been nominated for best actor in all the awards back then for The Hitcher & I’m really looking forward to checking out the screenplay in the set. Did you know that Rutger Hauer was voted the greatest Dutch Actor of the 20th Century in The Netherlands

I have been checking every week on the Second Sight website, and I just checked yesterday as a matter a fact, and it wasn't on there yet..
Everyone needs to support second sight film's and Warner Bros archive for restoration of the original camera negative and purchase The Hitcher on 4k Blu ray or Blu Ray
This movie 🍿 was blackballed and Black listed by Ronald Reagan era censorships including Siskel and Ebert..
Godzilla Minus One - Japan Release (with English subtitles) is epic and worth every penny, but it only ships to the US... that sucks!
If you're a fan of Mr. Hauer, The Hitcher, Ladyhawke, Blade Runner and Nighthawks are his bangers. I'm glad he's on the cover with that nasty SPAS 12. 👍

So i pre-Ordered it direct from Second Sight was £49.99 at amazon uk, £69.99 same thing, like are they joking, but why has Second Sight been sitting on this for ages, when it could of been releasedin the Summer, next will be the Terminator 4k from Warner Bros prob around same time as The Hitcher, thank god this will arrive after i get back from my holiday to USA & Canada i get back PM September 16, from Halifax , Nova Scotia.

Just making a point i have pre-ordered the box set, likes the Art Cards, but the screenplay , why do we need that? any poster in it ? likes the sound of the large booklet enclosed.
if it’s the original almost 200 page script that’s infamous in Hollywood and got the ball rolling then it will definitely be worth reading. or of it’s the shooting script- or both!- still worth a look to see how the words were interpreted to film. never underestimate a written script vs the filmed version. tarantino scripts are nice reads but very different compared to how they’re shot. check out the TRUE ROMANCE and NBK scripts to see how different they turned out on film. of course if you’re not interested then fair enough but to cinephiles, it’s quite fascinating. wishing you all the best.
Sweet! Don't need the fancy box set so I'll probably get the simple 4K. I hope they have a reversible cover with the poster art (rearview mirror eyes) and no rating symbol. Not sure if the TCM had that.
Release is really nice, but just dont need all that extra stuff. Hoping Scream factory has this as part of their October slate, with its original poster artwork
I’m going to wait on The Hitcher. I wonder what other company is releasing The Hitcher 4k, because second sight said another company is going to release it as well using Second Sights transfer.
Lots of extras, but it's £50 ($65) in UK, and no slipcover or SteelBook release, which is disappointing. Not a fan of the artwork either, and could have done much better like previous releases for that eyewatering price! Hope ZAVVI or HMV come out with something special...
Had this in the cart as a pre order (for the regular non-box version) but I'm not sure if I want to wait until a US distributor comes out with it (maybe Scream Factory).
Definitely going to upgrade from the atrocious looking DVD, and I've been waiting for this forever, but not sure if I should wait for a domestic release....
Then the question becomes, will the transfer be the same on another release?

KEN i gotta say im with you i finally got around to watching the FRIDAY THE 13TH 4K and it was marvelous i dont know what all the hate is the picture quality was superb i actually got rid of my scream factory friday the 13th bluray and replaced it with the 4k same thing im going to do when i get the 2009 remake im getting rid of that also

I just pulled the trigger on the Second Sight regular version, but I'm NOT happy about what I paid....with the overseas shipping, it was almost double the decent price on the release....

IMO ...I hate reading subtitles which detracts my attention from actually seeing everything in the movie, especially action scenes. I've already seen the English dubbed Godzilla Minus 1 film. It was OK ...but nothing like all the hype I had "Read & Seen" on the Internet. In fact ...I purchase alot of Blu-ray & 4 UHD releases, however I won't waste any of my money on said Godzilla release. 🤨
