I have the same car as many of the unmarked police in my country... when I park it on the side of the road I leave it at a 30*, 40* angle. It's hilarious watching the speed limit being respected in a area where people usually do twice the speed limit (the fines are really low here).
I only get 2 more years with my crown Vic before I have to move to a Taurus SHO police intercepter but I'm gonna try to buy my crown Vic at the auction
It's edging on 6 years now since the last Crown Victoria was built, and they are pretty much all but relegated here in NJ to construction zone babysitting - That is, if any are still in a departments fleet. Besides the occasional state police vehicle, these are all but out of service now here, and probably the same can be said elsewhere in Canada and the U.S... So if anyone really thinks any one of these they see are driven by a police officer from 2017 onward, they need a reality check. These will be classic cars. They were THE LAST body on frame passenger car produced, with a 4.6l v8 and solid rear end, the kind of thing you only find on a pickup truck or SUV these days. I've owned two of them which have been my 'daily's' for the better part of 10 years now that I've had a licence. With just some minimal mechanical knowledge and enough curiosity coupled with ownership of some screwdrivers and a ratchet set, anyone can mess around with these cars. There is not fear in working on them, because the paint isn't perfect and there is plenty of space under the hood without bumping into any fragile wiring or electronics. Gas mileage? No. cheap? Yes. I'd rather buy a car for around 2k and tinker with it here and there, getting meh gas mileage, then pay hundreds of dollars every month for some Bluetooth connected, backup camera, electronic dipstick, piece of crap. The struts and rear shocks are the same found on the defunct Ford Econoline Van for goodness sakes. Give me the Ford any day. It's the closest thing to owning a pickup truck, only it has the general shape of a car. And yeah, the floors plastic, and it has holes cut in it, and the roof probably has holes cut in it too that were filled with caulking glue... maybe they leak a little. And the older examples have no tach, and the odometer is analog... and the white ones have paint problems, and the wheels get premature surface rust, and there's interior rattle sounds... panels which don't line up, you take the spotlights out and cover the holes up and there's wind noise, the door panels have little or no sound insulation and your passengers always think someones door is cracked open. And the transmission is 'slow', and the ignition coils are temperamental, second gear is shitty, and the head unit is affectionately called 'Play Skool Radio' by my friends, the backseat also affectionately known as 'School Bus Seat'... I don't have to care, I can be rough with it and not worry about it. I can watch a soccer mom fling her door open and bang into my car, while I'm sitting in it and we can both stare at each other for a moment and I'll flash a disappointed smile and not do anything about it. I won't cry if it rains and the windows are left open. I won't be sad if someone rear ends me and there is a scuff on the 80 dollar, 1 piece, plastic bumper cover. Doors dented in, and I buy another at a junkyard for $42.00 and swap it out in half an hour. All the front lamps can be bought for 70 bucks on eBay when I inevitably lose traction again and slide off a highway entrance ramp at 10mph into a old tree stump and break a corner-lamp. And these are just some more reasons I love this car.
It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
// DdariQ // I was once hailed, thinking I was a taxi. Many times I would be stuck behind someone going 55 in a 55 in the left lane... more often in my white '98. The red '01 got less attention.
CJ DASHCAM Yeah definetely thought a different color would make it obvious that you are not a cop. But that taxi accident hahaha. You had a cage between the seats too? Removed?
Well the car he brought might of still has puke/shit stains in the back seat. Which does bring resale value of a car down quite alot. Because most people who get arrested and thrown in the backseat puke/shit/piss in the backseats alot. So yeahhhhhhh.....
Well you're buying a car from the bottom of the barrel. if you were to do that with a phone (not a galaxy S8, that's a bently) you'd pay maybe 40 bucks. And that's new.
Last of the low slung, simple looking sedans. Doesn't have all these crazy body lines and isn't trying to look super aggressive like every modern car. I love the looks because of how simple they are while still having class and little style flairs here and there like the little duck tail on the trunk.
Buy one cheap, get a salvage Town Car, and swap interiors and suspension if it's not damaged. Now you have a luxury car and a beater for about 6 grand.
I had the best time in my crown vic. Smoked weed on the highways, everyone moves out of the way, no overly aggressive drivers tailgating, drove it two solid years without spending a dime on maintenance( 120000 kilometers with no oil changes. Bought mine for 800 Canadian. Then it died. I sold as scrap for 250. So yeah, basically paid 550 dollars for a car that I stomped all over for two years. I'd do it again.
You drove 120000kms in two years?... wow. That's an average of 5000 a month. 1200 a week... if you had been doing oil changes, it would have cost you a small fortune.
I got a cop car. It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. Also, in the second blues brothers movie (that terrible one) there is actually a scene with a tiny bedroom in the back of a Crown vic cop car
I Own a Crown Vic police Interceptor as well, and I can confirm that all of this is true. While lacking in many fields, This is the most reliable car I have had. And yes, people will drive so slow and make faces when they find out you arent a cop.
GenuinelyJake it's totally worth it like a friend of mine owns one but it's all black so it looks like an undercover. Back when he first got it in high school we'd ride around and fuck with people and go to under ground car meets and they'd be so pissed off
There a UA-cam video of someone from Canada did a restomod on a 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis. It has a frame off of an 07 Crown Vic with upgraded brakes, rear axle, and suspension, Mercury Marauder wheels, LED lighting, Mercury Marauder carpeting, S197 Mustang seats, a 96 Mercury Grand Marquis dash, and a 5.4L DOHC 32V V8 out of a Lincoln Navigator with 03 Cobra cylinder heads, 96-98 Cobra camshafts, an Aussie Boss 290 Intake manifold and stock Marauder air intake along with a Fox body mustang's 80mm throttle body along with long tube headers and free flowing dual exhaust. The horsepower total was 341 HP and 351 Ibs of torque and man it sounds like a beast. I mean when you start it up roars to life so wonderfully it just want to make you smile.
I drive a 99 crown vic lx everyday. Put a P71 computer in it and I've never had so much fun messing with people on the road. On the highway if i turn my headlights on everyone thinks im a cop. I've even had multiple BMW"s get out of the left lane and let me pass. They even used their turn signals.
"If you live anywhere in America you know the fear associated with seeing one of these 'authoritated' land yachts floating down the road" shows cop car in Ontario, CANADA.
@@jakekaywell5972 In the USA, Ford Explorers, Chevy Tahoes, and Dodge Chargers are more common as police cars than the Crown Vic. There's still in service Crown Victorias left. It's not uncommon to see a police Chevy Tahoe in Texas because the 9C1 Tahoes are manufactured in North Texas and Texans love trucks even though they don't need one. Canada is not part of America but it's still in North America.
@@atx-cvpi_99 pretty much the same cop cars are present in Canada as in the USA. The car markets between the two nations are nearly identical, so it makes sense for the police in the two countries to use almost all the same cars (mostly Explorers and Chargers, with the occasional older Crown Victorias and Impalas, at least in Montreal)
There might be a reason for that. The US police cars (Crown Vics) are all built in Ontario. After the retail market died around 2005, it was a massive tax deduction for fleets to buy them from Canada instead of USA. They are literally the same car.
You don't want body roll? Put bigger anti-roll bars on it. Cheap, easy fix. You want the trans to shift better? Stall converter, shift kit and a computer retune. And you might want to remember that 4000lbs is what pretty much every other car on the road weighs, give or take two to four hundred.
One time I was high(weed) in the parking lot at night and someone drove this close to the car I was in. My friend who was more high than me.. Literally freaked the Fuck out. He literally said, "OK boys we're fucked, try to calm down cause we're going to be arrested" . He sat there literally saying I'm never doing this again. I was also freaked but eventually I realized... OK if that was a cop why didn't he just arrest us then and there. Why did he like drive away. Since the "cop" drove away. We laughed then when we were sober went home lol... Fun and scary night.
I fucking miss mine. When it rained I used to throw on some eurobeat (Initial D music) and just slide sideways around every highway offramp I could find.
One thing left out is gas mileage which is 18 city to 25 highway. So it's compared to a minivan/standard SUV...but keep in mind it IS a heavy car. After owning one for a year and a half, she definitely is a GOOD CAR. Repairs are cheap, parts are everywhere and it will last you a while when you take care of them.
You missed something important. Old police vehicles have holes cut in them all over for where the equipment used to be. I drove an ex police T5. The dash had loads of holes for the recording equipment. There were even holes inside the cabin for a divider between the rear passengers and the front passengers. Holes in the roof for the lights and holes in the grille and bumpers for additional flashing lights.
Several years ago, I bought an ex highway patrol rig. It was a 79 mercury with a 428. It could make it look like you were smiling even when you weren't. On a long drive, it felt like you were driving your recliner. If traffic got heavy and wouldn't move over, I could release the whip antenna from the rain gutter and talk into my fist. Clear road ahead. I drove through a small town doing about twice the limit. Two Leo's were standing beside the road talking. My pucker factor ratcheted up until they waved at me.
I assume the word you guys are looking for is "vocabulary". Kind of the same thing that distinguishes the word "drifting" from "doing a burnout in the Maccas car park". If you don't understand the difference I suggest you watch the latest episode of The Grand Tour.
When you mention all the reactions from people when you drive this car is funny and I'm sure very true. Maybe people will stop buying the Ford Explorer. I'm sure they get the same reaction.
I own my former Sheriffs car, its a 1996 Bronco. Whens the last time anyones seen a LE Bronco eh? Also I put a Whelen 9M with a Full LED setup, including takedowns, alleys, rear highmount center brake light, and selectable amber, or Red/Blue cruise lights. It also has a cattlegaurd, one 6", and one 4" Chrome unity spotlight, reflective striping, in blue 'course, front and rear wig-wags, and a 200w Whelen PA/siren with 2 Federal Dynamax speakers. The Bronco has a 95% LED conversion done, excluding the ABS, Battery, and Airbag indicator lights due to the LED strobing on the ABS all the time, and the others constantly being on. It has XLT options, cassette deck, paneled doors, power windows, tachometer, powersteering, bucket seats(not a bench), large center console, manual tcase with the E40D, mounted to the 5.8L with no Rev limiter. Not sure why that is, but I dont care. I also have 33" mud tires on 15x10 rims, and a set of 30x9.5 pursuit tires on ford 15x7 stamped rims. It goes so fast that speedometer waves at me when I go over 89mph. Idont actually know how fast cause my spedo only does 89, Its annoying.
Mushtaq Samim I'm a highschool senior and own the upper model of it (grand marquis) and I'm in love with it. Honestly amazes me every day that I drive it
+Aaron Nedlan haha funny story after I sold my vic and bought an 09 town car, kinda of like the upper model of the marquis and man is it comfortable I just miss the fun that came with owning a vic
Depends on the car and on what police department bought it. Most of their mileage will be spent idling or cruising if you live in an area with less crime. And most police departments keep up with all maintenance, including preventative maintenance.
No, cause these Vics were produced way more than the chargers, now that they are coming out of commission, not everyone wants one or needs them, so people buy them very cheap from gov. auctions. In my area, the police chargers go for around 3k (Not an R/T, V6 one)
I love my P71, it is cheap, safe, reliable and fun to drive. The gas mileage is actually pretty incredible for it's size and weight. The steering is good and it is surprisingly nimble.
My god America, how can you produce such an engine with so few HP's?? And also, a 4 speed transmission..? Still, it's better than an Opel astra diesel or a VW golf
American regulations at the time, most engines were detuned on purpose. Also, the reason why cop cars had big engines with low power ( for they dize ) its because its make more relible, especially when you push the car as hard as they do because the v8 won't be pushing itself up as much as 4 cylinder when they are both producing the same output for exemple.
+TheRedHuskie At the time? These were produced until 2011 with that much power. Not to mention both Europeans and Japanese were getting more power out of smaller engines almost 20 years before the last Crown Vic rolled off the production line while meeting the same regulations. 1995 BMW 540i, 4.4L V8, 282hp. 1995 Lexus LS400, 4.0L V8, 260hp 1989 Mercedes SL500, 5.0L V8, 322hp 2011 Ford Crown Vic Police Spec, 4.7L V8, 239hp.
because they're not made to set a blistering time around a race track, they're made to out run slow shitty cars that make up 90% of cars on the road and run forever doing it
Whaddaya mean not necessarily fast? Taint necessarily slow either. After all, it is a pursuit vehicle. Ford is discontinuing the Vic. Few left in San Diego police livery.
Having owned 2 of them over 11 years and having been a member of the most used Panther Platform site on the internet, Vic's are not fast....They're just not. I miss mine, each for different reasons, but their speed and acceleration is not one of those reasons.
ignasviplol1 >>> When he said flicker the brights, he obviously meant the damn high beam headlights. Where the hell did you get police lights out of anything the man said?
What is it with people shitting themselves at anything that even resembles a cop car. It's almost dangerous they'll spike the brakes right in front of you...and nobody is doing more than 5mph over...come on peeps get it together.
I own an 08 and “land yacht” is a good term for it. Fricken huge, horrible on gas, and yes 95% of people really do drive slow when you’re behind them, but all of that aside it’s an awesome car. The v8 sounds amazing (especially straight piped), it hauls ass, it looks really nice (in my opinion), you don’t get cut off almost ever or tailgated really, does gnarly burnouts, and it’s a good conversation piece. I’m constantly asked about it and people seem to love it. And truthfully the damn things last forever if you even just maintain it somewhat at all.
Can confirm being able to live in it. I lived in a Grand Marquis (same car, just plushier) for a couple years. Holds all your belongings, full set of shop tools, and still has tons of room to sleep in the back seat. The trunk is best described as 'cavernous' and the thing is a bonafide land yacht to the extreme.
$900????????????? What the hell am I doing financing a 20k car????

ShockAndAwe417 I thought the SHO has a turbo V6
ShockAndAwe417 most of the time it's the 3.7 V6 out of the mustang or the 3.5 twin turbo either way there supposed to make my job a lot easier
Lenivy Gamer yeah my city always buys all the newest cars as soon as they're available. We have nothing but new Taurus', explorers and Tahoe's.
Replying to your first paragraph just 3 weeks ago I saw a RCMP crown Vic in downtown Ottawa
couldn't agree more.
Lots of police departments still operate Crown Vics
Most of the police departments in western and central MA still have fleets made up primarily of crown vics
Kansas City Missouri has several crown vics still in operation. Mostly what you'll see driving through.
Now matter which model of Crown Victoria, people will think you're a cop. Even the top luxury model Vics.
Just get a licence plate that says "NOT COP"
thats what mines says
it still doesn't work
LOL trey,u should make videos on daily living with your car
FastCarsNoRules220 there is a dude in Ontario Canada with that I think on his crown Vic
That's exactly what an undercover cop would say
check the IG _camefromdetroit. my youtube sucks
How to upset the most amount of people for the least money! Drive an ex cop car like a hooligan!
thedownshiftchannel nah there cool cars unless ur a dumbass who impersonates police
It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
don't forget the rugged suspension made for jumping curbs, too.
I get police discount when I drive through chick fil a with mine😂
Lol, at least your wallet isn't as dead as before.

And cop motor
I owned two. A well used and abused 1998 city unit that smelled of puke, and a 2001 unit from a small town that was lovingly cared for. AMA.
Have you experienced the "They think you are a cop" effect as well?
// DdariQ // I had the rolling road block effect when my car had a temp tag in the window
// DdariQ // I was once hailed, thinking I was a taxi. Many times I would be stuck behind someone going 55 in a 55 in the left lane... more often in my white '98. The red '01 got less attention.
***** Never. Tried to join the Air Force but had health problems. Same with the National Guard. Got into the automotive business instead.
CJ DASHCAM Yeah definetely thought a different color would make it obvious that you are not a cop. But that taxi accident hahaha. You had a cage between the seats too? Removed?
So nobody is gonna talk about that 900$ price tag... when cars are cheaper than phones smh
Well the car he brought might of still has puke/shit stains in the back seat. Which does bring resale value of a car down quite alot. Because most people who get arrested and thrown in the backseat puke/shit/piss in the backseats alot. So yeahhhhhhh.....
Most of the back is plastic, you just get a hose and soap and rinse the car down
Well you're buying a car from the bottom of the barrel. if you were to do that with a phone (not a galaxy S8, that's a bently) you'd pay maybe 40 bucks. And that's new.

Can the rear doors be opened from the inside?
Haha, I hope they don't. I'll lock my friends up and take them for a terror cruise.
Never heard of child lock ? Most car have chid lock.
Simon Lusignan Laplante Never been in the back of a police car? You can't get out from the inside. That's why I asked the question.
Saddle Sore yeah just like when you open the back door of a csr and put child lock to the " on " position
On the police cars the rear handles are not connected. You have to reconnect them if you want them to work.
Idk how anyone can look at a crown Vick and say "that's the car I want" but for $900 I can't really argue the value
Last of the low slung, simple looking sedans. Doesn't have all these crazy body lines and isn't trying to look super aggressive like every modern car.
I love the looks because of how simple they are while still having class and little style flairs here and there like the little duck tail on the trunk.
Aye. Too many *GRR ANGRY HEADLIGHTS* these days.
Buy one cheap, get a salvage Town Car, and swap interiors and suspension if it's not damaged. Now you have a luxury car and a beater for about 6 grand.
Cheaper than iphone X
I had the best time in my crown vic. Smoked weed on the highways, everyone moves out of the way, no overly aggressive drivers tailgating, drove it two solid years without spending a dime on maintenance( 120000 kilometers with no oil changes. Bought mine for 800 Canadian. Then it died. I sold as scrap for 250. So yeah, basically paid 550 dollars for a car that I stomped all over for two years. I'd do it again.
Driving through laneways was always fun at night, scaring teens smoking pot.
Joshua Stien douche bag. you financially poor low class citizen.

You drove 120000kms in two years?... wow. That's an average of 5000 a month. 1200 a week... if you had been doing oil changes, it would have cost you a small fortune.

I mean when you start it up roars to life so wonderfully it just want to make you smile.

crown vic 4ever
SolidSnake hell yeah that is sick i got a 2009 crown and it only gots 190k on it, hell of miles left i can dump on it
I drive a 99 crown vic lx everyday.
You do realize Canada is part of America, right?

Ironic how a cop car can be an illegal drift car

@Fmono • 38 years ago • Updated So? Many people have more authority than other people...
No, that is a burnout, not drifting.
Jason Schubert dumbass
Speedy Snail What an eloquently presented argument, and with that repartee at the end! You must be the life of the party at any soirée.
Jason Schubert Omg what a nice Dictionary you used there!!!

Do you think that since cops now use dodge chargers , that they to will eventually be for sale for this same amount of $900 , cuz if so that's cool
jdog8931 most likely yes, they do beat them to hell and back thought there is a reason its $900.
This makes me really want one...
I would actually prefer the golf over this food can
American regulations at the time, most engines were detuned on purpose. Also, the reason why cop cars had big engines with low power ( for they dize ) its because its make more relible, especially when you push the car as hard as they do because the v8 won't be pushing itself up as much as 4 cylinder when they are both producing the same output for exemple.
At least ireland gets audi Q7's and hyundai i35's
+TheRedHuskie At the time? These were produced until 2011 with that much power. Not to mention both Europeans and Japanese were getting more power out of smaller engines almost 20 years before the last Crown Vic rolled off the production line while meeting the same regulations.
