After the success of previous city tours, Cabview Holland is showing you Rotterdam again from a historic tram, this time from a different perspective than the previous Rotterdam tour. We are the guests once more of the cheerful and enthusiastic employees of the Romeo Foundation (Rotterdam Public Transport Museum and Exploitation of Oldtimers) and we are filming from the 385, a 1965 tram built by Werkspoor. Wow, what a beautiful city Rotterdam is. And one can appreciate this fact even more, when one considers the heavy bombardment that Rotterdam underwent during the war.
And the city is clean!
Whoever thought up this idea should be given an immediate pay raise. What a wonderful way to portray cities at minimal cost. BBC has done the same with Antiques Road Trips, showing off their villages, albeit at far higher cost of production. I look forward to other countries doing the same; a genteel competition, with some notable exceptions: Egypt, India, I/2 of the U.S., etc. And Russia, where autos compete for stupid aggressive advantage.

A lot cleaner than many if not most American cities. We have a lot of room for improvement. I see lots of young looking trees. Was there a tree planting effort about 5 - 10 years ago?

I think in many ways Rotterdam is more interesting than Amsterdam, it has some very interesting architecture and nice broad avenues, and not so many crowds of stupid tourists or insane cyclists to battle your way through.

How leafy Rotterdam is, compared to much older Amsterdam. It's wider streets accomodate bikes, cars and trams. Nothing beats city planning.

Wat een heerlijke rit weer door de Rotterdamse binnenstad.
Veel herkenbare plekken gezien waar ik afgelopen zomer ook heb rondgewandeld.
Alleen mis ik het volgende: gaan jullie een keer de Erasmusbrug over om door Rotterdam Zuid heen te rijden? Is dat mogelijk, of niet?
In ieder geval heel erg bedankt voor deze bijna anderhalf uur durende video!

The "Red BMW" is a striking pop-art-like art object that has been hanging on (or off?) The facade since 1987. So for more than thirty years! The glossy backdrop of the mirrored architecture around the BMW is a great place for this work of art. “The gray city needed a bombardment of color”, according to Cor Kraat, one of the three men from the artists' collective Kunst & Vaarwerk who are responsible for this work of art. So it is not a forgotten car after an accident, but "just" art! There's one striking difference between this Rotterdam City Tour and the Amsterdam City tour tramway video . And that is in this video much less amount of old buildings, "houses" cobblestone streets and the like . Is that due to the Nazi Germans' bombing and destroying Rotterdam much more than they did Amsterdam in ww2 . please, any and all replies !

I must also say that I don't believe that the descendents -- today's Germans -- of Germans and Nazi Germans during the nazi era are responsible for their German ancestor's heinous actions in ww2 did to Europe, the Dutch, Jews, Russians and others . There is nothing genetic about fascism/nazism . fascism/nazism has risen its ugly head in many nationalities, ethnicities and civilizations throughout human history .
Most towns in Florida are ugly and have real bad transportation.. This place looks so nice..

@@chrisstyann9206 But the picture-in-picture in the corner would block parts of the front view. It's also quite distracting to have two videos at the same time. Seen such videos before and can't recommend it. A possible rear view better would have to be an own video (though I'd always root for the front perspective).

I remember 30 years ago we are accompanied by my father have trips to meet the company for transporter of Europe and visited a little this historic city are beautiful that now it is broad to the projects of the trams of the Administrative district and Surprise of images High skyscraper buildings, It's not pretty for future I don't like like elsewhere in Europe, Asia etc. It is modern architecture of buildings and apartments that can draw it's ugly .. like cars the same is ugly modern design and furniture that the values of cars from the 60s to the 80s Superb and vintage, classic I love .. Damage .. We are in France also that change tram projects since Disappeared after the war in 1955 to 1960 it's stupid .. That's more late France will return 1995 trams projects in all cities everywhere .. and buildings fairly moderate high ..

Cross the Erasmus Bridge and you will arrive in Rotterdam-Zuid.
Rotterdam-Zuid is on the left bank of the river, which is the right side.
The city centre is on the right side, so the wrong side.

Rotterdam, vooral als je er bekend mee bent/was is/was? een hele mooie relaxte stad. Ik woonde op coolhaven rond m'n 20 en kwam dagelijks op de nieuwe binneweg in de koffieshops daar. Vooral op de kruising met 's gravendijkwal. In de 90-er jaren zat daar Sensi-smile, de 3 musketiers, Dizzy en gek genoeg de tent waar ik het meest zat ben ik de naam van kwijt iets van "weekend" ofzo ik weet niet meer. Er zat ook een strip club waar een cola 10 piek kostte. Op the hoek waar de singel begint (over naar oude-binnenweg) zat het politie bureau daar heb ik ook een keer een avond in een vunzig celletje gezeten omdat de politie opeens weleens invallen in koffieshops deed en dan iedereen daar oppakte. In mijn geval zaten we in Sky-high. Vooral in de zomer was Rotterdam een bijzonder aangename stadt. Veel beter dan steden zoals leiden, utrecht, breda of Amsterdam na mijn mening. Het leek ruimer, minder toeristisch/studentisch en een veel betere menging van verschillende type mensen (behalve koorballen en ander saai klote volk die konden lekker achter op de lijnbaan of bij die bars bij de kubus woningen gaan zitten (vergeet even hoe dat heette). Als je van discos hield had je "night town", "baya beach club" (ja daaaaag), "de dans salon", "parkzicht" en "tomorrowland", volgens mij vergeet ik er nog een paar. Je kon het laatste uur van opening altijd gratis Booijmans van Beuning binnen wat wij vaak stoned deden. Toen hing daar nog "Toren van Babel". Ach ja ik kan wel effe doorgaan. Nu woon ik al 20 jaar niet meer in Nederland en als ik zoiets als dit zie, vooral zo'n zomer scene, dan krijg ik waterige oogjes. Het mooie van Rotterdam is/was? de ruimte. Er is voor ieder wat en je hoeft niet op elkaar's lip te zitten. Geen enkele groep leek/lijkt? te domineren. Zoals in veel steden over de hele wereld wel het geval lijkt.
De shop waar je het meest zat ben je de naam van vergeten... Goh, hoe kan dat nou ;-)

@@CabviewHolland Jij ook bedankt voor de video! Die koepel das tomorrowland, nighttown zit/zat? op de kruiskade/middelandstraat? De uitsmijters daar hadden de naam agressief te worden als je ze geen fooi gaf. Ik gaf nooit een fooi en had nooit een probleem maar een vriend van mij was bang dat hij toch beter een fooi kon geven en drukte een uitsmijter 10 cent in zijn hand. 10 cent!!!Die uitsmijter (grote gozer) greep zijn pols hardhandig vast en ik dacht "oh shit" maar hij drukte alleen die 10 cent terug in mijn vriend's hand.

Tram rijdt zo te zien door alle mooie luxe en/of gegentrificeerde stukjes Rotterdam. Niet echt representatief, zeker niet onder dat vriendelijke zomerzonnetje ;)

Imagine, the Germans bombed the heart of the city so all was gone of the beautiful lanes (singels) and there buildings. Right out of the centre they're still there:) I still don't have a clue what Rotterdam had done to the Germans to deceive that horror...
Sorry i think it was the Americans bombing the harbor but partially missed. Germany basically just walked in with little resistance.

@@hamcoltube Route is niet onlogisch, moet het Rotterdamse centrum laten zien. Bestaat lijn 10 nog? Reed in mijn jeugd van Spangen naar de Molenlaan. Als hij toch niet meer bestaat kan het nummer best gebruikt worden, ligt goed in het gehoor.
De rollen zijn omgedraaid: vond ik vroeger Amsterdam groezelig en vies, zo lijkt, bij het aanschouwen van deze tramvideo, Rotterdam het stokje te hebben opgenomen. De Cabview van Amsterdam toont een schone, aangeharkte stad waar veel is opgeknapt en de publieke ruime aantrekkelijk is gemaakt. Rotterdam oogt vies, armoedig (veel graffiti) en slecht onderhouden groen. Veel moderne architectuur natuurlijk, maar de publieke ruimte in de havenstad is verloederd.
