Pyrion and Lewis were absolute mavericks here; the bar fight (the gasp sound effect was great!) was one of my favorite bits. Ben’s smarmy communist voice was hilarious and shows incredible range. This is my first time seeing and hearing Briony, and she’s a great addition! I love her voice and jokes! Please get her in more CoC games. Thanks again for the work Tom and backstage MQ crew!
In a way, PFlax's character had the best ending. A musician that wrote a hit song that defined his time then died the same night? Nobody is forgetting that.
This has been one of my go to youtube channels ever since it first started. I've always been a massive fan of all the table top rpg yogscast adventures and having a place for only that is awesome. I've thoroughly enjoyed every series here but I have to say that call of cthulhu sessions are easily some of my favourite. I could watch these all day every day (I have rewatched more than half of the series here and I'm not afraid to admit that).
Had a long shift last night, fell asleep listening to this glorious nonsense! Had some strange dreams I can't fully remember... ...must be the juice! *This is a comment, for the Angorythm.*
I love the liberal use of jazz music for this series! Amazing how much it adds to the game. Also everyone is amazing in this game! Love their voice work and antics ❤
Didn't think it would end so soon, but I absolutely loved it! I did not expect the sudden sacrifice play by Pyrion, but without it the team would've lost, I love it when someone is willing to sacrifice themselves for a shot at victory over the Mythos. I hope we get to see communist Ben again, he was hilarious.
Fabulous ending! Absolutely clutch from Briony there, I'm surprised none of the players asked if they recognised the cultists because I wouldn't be shocked if they were also people at the very top of their respective fields, and who was this mysterious head woman?? Loved this series though, thank you mystery quest!
Man this one shot really reinforced some character traits that go beyond the session. Ben's parasite infection paranoia (even if justified), -Ameb- I mean -John Ste- Chase/Jay getting their face bashed in, amazing fun as always. Briony and Pyrion are also absolutely lovely and I do hope to see more of the both of them! And the ever masterful Tom, hats off to you for another great one!
I liked this cast especially, I feel like they all had great ideas and all really acted well according to their characters. Love seeing Briony and Flax show up on the channel! This has been one of my fav CoC adventures from you guys, keep it up!
This is great. The 2 videos beforehand made me organise a CoC session and were running fish in a barrel too! Be fun too see how my friends end up. After reading the material, its great to see how Tom still guides the game so well even when the players go completely unexpectedly wild.
@@BattleBro77 One day in like 500 years we will be able to have true communism like Star Trek, but that will be because robots deal with everything bad and humans just spend time learning how to cook, do science, or other fun things for the betterment of human life.

loved this, I do have to admit I listen to the podcast version to sleep usually so I have to come back to the videos to finish them because I usually fall before the ends. but that is always a pleasure because that means I have tom to sooth me to sleep and to scare me more awake when I'm fully invested away from doing work hahaha. also I hope when I move to the members vid I can see flaxes scetch he was doodling away at
To think, the only one whose career was ‘successful’ was the only one who didn’t survive at the end! The song stayed popular, yet nothing the others did continued to be popular so that’s kinda fitting!
Don’t worry. On a community post they said it was because Tom is out of town or something. (I don’t see why that would change anything…) but the main thing is it’s not meant to be a permanent change! 😊
@@darkpixel1128 Well sure, but it is a little odd. It's not like if Tom goes to Japan he loses all ability to communicate with anybody back home. That said I'm sure it's just quality/comfort issues. The man's entitled to a vacation without worrying about all of that stuff.
Great episode, love your Cthulhu sessions. Do miss the intro though. Was always looking forward to the weird, whimsical or scary "or are you on a mystery quest?" intro.
This was awesome - having an action packed scenario like this is a cool change of pace! Cheers to all of you guys and on with myself to a bit behind the scenes info in the post game chat! (;
briony for the win!!!!!! ? this was another great series, glad pyrion made it over for another round of mystery! as always, i love how everyone gets absorbed into their characters... cant wait for the next series!!!
15:30 There was a lot of ttrpg/larp theory emerging in the late 90s; and a major concept was 'bleed'. When a player becomes so invested that IRL emotions 'bled' into the game space (or vice versa, but that's usually no good). Brionny seems like she caught a bit of bleed. We used to say that was why we played: the game takes on Import; the trivial became impactful. You stop 'playing' a character and began to 'live' it because of the situation and because of your companions. You began to embody it. There be dragons... But there also be incredible personal revelations. Y'all all laugh it off eventually. Most do. But the art of rpg is when a bit of bleed happens. You can benefit from a far greater catharsis than any mere viewer of theater performance.
At 51:40 Lewis' character can see a shape on the roof, whilst the music sounds suspiciously like the Marvel music... sounds like Iron Man is coming to help them!!
I'll write this as more of a comment on the scenario since I enjoy both Tom and the players. With how little information the characters were working with it didn't feel like there were any recognizable paths for the players to take and they were sort of flailing around hoping something would stick. I could see why other than Ben the players sort of almost gave up on the roleplaying aspect because things were so out of wack with no coherent throughline. The monster didn't do much in the finale and the end was abrupt. I liked episode 1 and episode 2 so I think there was a very decent scenario setup but the end just didn't match the intensity of elisode 2 bug fight.
yeah I am sorta hoping for a post game for this one, because it feels like it came to a head really quickly. They handled it as well as they could but the material was weird. It felt like the scenario was very rail-roaded, and I want to know what else they could have done to help them understand what was happening, why, and how to stop it 'safely'. The concept of "the juice" was a lot of fun, but it seemed like from the moment the game started they were on a short timer. They got 1 piece of information, which led them to a warehouse where the final ritual was already just a few moments away from being completed. They reacted incredibly quickly, but still almost failed. Was there an option to learn more at some point? was there any other information they missed? Who were the cultists? Why was the accountant part of it? What is the juice? What was added to the bad batch of juice, and why? The scenario seems like "uhh, there's a bad drink, and uh a bug, um anyway there's a ritual, um stop it with brute force I guess?"
@@RyNsWoRLD I read someone's review of the scenario and it was pretty much the same thing. From what I understand now this scenario is from a series meant to be very short and railroaded.
@@RyNsWoRLD I think it was in one of the member's Q&As but I remember Tom saying he prefers the shorter games because it's hard to schedule people across multiple days. And also less episodes means less viewer fall off between each one so the channel generally performs better that way.
@@ForeverTraitor yeah, I understand that. I prefer shorter stuff as well personally. Honestly my fav stuff is videos where the whole story is told in one video. I'm not worried about the length, its just the story itself that felt like it wrapped up unsatisfactorily. Not a big deal by any means tho
