- A great visit with Jade Goodell and Ogden Nature Center's Celebrity Raven "Cronk." Jade and I began sharing our many experiences with ravens a couple years ago. I was taken with the fact she had devoted the great amount of time needed to work with an older raven (about 20). I had to meet this wonderful girl who made a huge difference by making "Cronks" life special and meaningful! Of course I think you'll see she kind of enjoys it also!
But me being on the west coast and her in Ogden Utah, it took a while before we could meet. So, this last road trip in December 2019, Diana and I made a point to get to Ogden to meet with both Jade and "Cronk" at The Ogden Nature Center. Jade, and another handler Rich, were kind enough to share their time and tell us some of their wonderful stories about the challenges of taking care of a raven, and many of the other residents including eagles owls, hawks and more. Join us for a back of the house tour of The Ogden Nature Center, in Utah!
I must share, I especially appreciate Jade's work and dedication. Understand she volunteers her time, almost everyday, to make sure "Cronk" leads a healthy and happy life. In fact, Jade just received a certificate of appreciation from the State of Utah for over a 1,000 hours of service! Thanks Jade!

What a great relationship they have and what a great bird he is. So smart and lovely. She is really passionate about the bird you can tell she does everything to ensure a heathy and good live for the bird, you know with all the surprises, puzzles and brain teasers it is great.

You're welcome Joshua. The crazy thing is that they are like flying toddlers that live for 20 years and more. And ever day is a little different, I'm never bored and on the flip side, it keeps me pretty busy, cause I can can never show "the half of it!"
the bird sure does look cool when he's bowing his head and he's got the feathers around his legs poofed out like the wheel skirts on a Gee Bee airplane.

Again wonderful raven stuff - thank you! Also thanks for the extra links. I found the article about Jade and Cronk to be really deep and great and would highly recommend it to everyone. Jade's UA-cam channel was a nice find too - I just noticed that she hasn't uploaded any new videos in seven months, so I hope that she and Cronk are doing fine. Cheers!
Cronk and I are doing wonderful! I have struggled a bit with getting permission to post videos to my own personal channel but the Ogden Nature Center has a UA-cam where they have been posting some. ua-cam.com/users/ogdennaturecenter

That's sweet seeing him get pets too.
There's another channel I've seen a couple who adopt injured or inprinted rescue birds. One of their crows is in love with neck rubs too! 😊 I guess in the wild bonded pairs will give each other neck pets and groom each other too. ✌
