“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Wow! “Get rid of the old foundation and build a new one!”
OK so helping with time and resources and love and attention and prayer- to the best that I am able to with my large young family and my responsibilities - I want to be a part of the solution. However, what does that mean “get rid of the old foundation to build a new one?” Defunding the police? Getting rid of police and embracing anarchy - that I don’t want to be a part of. I think it’s very Dangerous when people use violence as a solution against violence. A good end never justify evil means. There’s no uniting and aligning with people who choose to be lawless.Nothing evil should be exalted. No killing is to be favored whether it’s an innocent black man killed by police or an African-American ex police chief killed by thugs who are rioting. That I will not stand for.

Unfortunately science and nature say different. Humans, along with just about every other life form on the planet, tend to be tribal. We gravitate towards those that are physically the same or similar to us. Tribalism is the reason for our success as a species and is also responsible for the greatest acts of inhumanity. Some of us have learned to suppress and overcome our innate instincts. Want proof? Look at South Africa 25 years after demolishing apartheid; Mandela's vision?

Unfortunately, once extreme gage manifests in a person, it is nearly impossible to change their views.
Practically, if not LITERALLY, THE ONLY WAY FOR THEM TO CHANGE THEIR WAYS IS IF THEY THEMSELVES EXPERIENCE A LIFE AND DEATH SITUATION, SUCH AS BEING HELD AT GUNPOINT BY THE PPL THEY HATE, OR LITERALLY LOSING A LOVED ONE.
      Tragic, but sad reality.

Sometimes the people around us just make us feel like their problems are more complicated than us.. They should just peak a little bit into other's problem and understand that everyone has their own problems and they are coping with them in their own way... If they are sharing , then let them share . It will give them a bit relief... Understand their problems and if you cant help them , then just console them , give them courage to fight it back......
It is necessary to understand, than making them stay quiet...☮

In order for there to be a great change for Unity and Love we must first learn and educate ourselves of the How's and Whys this happened in the first place and understand what has kept it in place for so long. Learn of the past, See the roots of the system, understand history and see it from a Consciousness perspective.

Privilege is having your own National Anthem.
Privilege is wearing $200 sneakers when the only job you've ever had is selling drugs.
Privilege is having a Smartphone with a Data plan which you receive no bill for.
Privilege is living in public subsidized housing where you don’t have a utility bill.
Privilege is having free health insurance for you and your family that's paid for by working people who can't afford health insurance for their families.
Privilege is having multiple national organizations promoting and protecting your race that's subsidized by federal tax dollars.
Privilege is having access to a national college fund that supports only your race.
Privilege is having a television network that supports only your race.
Privilege is the ability to go march against, and protest against anything that triggers you, without worrying about calling out off work and the consequences that accompany such act.
Privilege is having as many children as you want, regardless of your employment status, and be able to send them off to daycare or school you don’t pay for.
Privilege is being strongly favored for a job opening with a company even when personal qualifications are less than other applicants.
Privilege is having most of your life paid for by the people who HAVE TO DEAL WITH RISING TAXES AND COSTS!...you know, we so called “PRIVILEGED” ones who pay while you take from the system.

The correct view of White Privilege --
    1. Blessed by Mother Nature
    2. the ability to examine an undesirable situation and design a process or procedure to improve
    it
    3. the ability to work to implement the process or procedure to improve the undesirable
    situation
    4. the generosity to share the process or procedure with others if they are willing to implement

this is what's contributing to Humanity's biggest problem. We are constantly seeking problems, not Solutions. We've made out that it's someone else's fault for where we are in life. There comes a point in time in everyone's life. They must own their choices. We all must stop seeking out excuses. There are way too many people in this world. There are too many people from all walks of life. Who made something of their selves. They didn't blame society they didn't their parents where they live what they came from.

They didn't victimize them but tried to get over by themselves. Finally we did it and now south Korea became ~11th economically powerful in the world which was ~ 183rd in 1960s.

🚨 👉🏾🙏🏾Do not dismiss this please. I mean this in the most well intentioned way possible and if this helps u I am a Black kid living in NY. People like James do not destroy the neighborhood. It is the Democratic Party. Since the 1960s through government handouts they prayed on the poor and impoverished that were a majority black at the time in order for those poorer people to depend on the government and its money. In turn taxes were raised and government control was encroaching on people and they had fallen victim to the government. All of this systemic racism nonsense could not be farther from the truth. People need to realize the saying “Hard times create strong men, (and women ofc) strong men create good times, good times create weak mean and weak men create hard times.” Right now we are in good times.. the best time to ever have lived on the planet earth in America in particular by far. The poorest among Americans are in the top 1% of the world. Right now we are in great times and it has created weak men... all of this “system racism” and wanting to tear the system which has produced the least poverty by far in comparison to any other system... this is the result of weak men creating hard times... SEE IT BEFORE WE LOSE IT ALL. If you disagree don’t dismiss this, question it thoroughly for the countries sake! 🚨
❤️Hope everyone has an Amazing day❤️

This video does not in my opinion explain privileged. I am white, grew up with little and never saw colors in my life. I personally feel that having love, compassion and understanding for ALL PEOPLE is the best solution. My “black “ friend was on the same economic level as I was, never did either of us give any of this a thought. NO ONE can make you feel less of a person, UNLESS you think and accept this as your belief. I generally find your videos intriguing and with a great lesson, but not this one. From the moment the “ black” man walked in (last) he had a frown and just a down attitude. That is how I saw him portrayed....and I knew it was going to be about his hardships. We ALL have hardships, some more than others but one must find inner strength and do something for self. The “white” male was a jerk, and there are people like him... just take his power away by ignoring him and finding the positives in all situations. Privileged people can be of any “color” ... have a good heart and soul... be kind and find the good in every life experience and in all. ♥️

Agreed. How on earth can you just assign privilege to a person based on color when you know next to nothing about that person. This to me is the most inherently racist thing one can do. Always knew for a while that he’s a phony dude plagiarizing a lot of his content attempting to make it philosophical. This was the last straw..

    • @buttercup2843

Maanasi Jeevakaran What is my skin color? You’ve assumed my problems
are not caused by my skin color so please enlighten us. I never mentioned that I had or didn’t have any problems either but my hunch is you don’t much care for actual facts because the focus is on being a “SJW”. POINT IS you know nothing about my life or “these people” you seem to accuse so kindly please stop assuming where mine/their problems are stemming from. Perhaps it would be wise if you went and cleaned your room before you went out to fix the world’s problems by simply assigning imaginary privileges. All individuals regardless of their skin color have advantages and disadvantages. Again THE POINT IS bringing race into a conversation such as this is nothing but a cheap identity politics tactic.

I agree with you that this is a poor portrayal of "white privilege" that it is clearly trying to portray. Without explicitly stating that it's talking about race, the title of the video "Privilege Explained.." definitely alludes to that.
It also does a poor job of presenting the argument in a way that has any real nuance. The James character who is a stand in and personification of white privilege. Is how you put it "just a jerk", which creates a good Vs bad binary and that by being born privileged (white) = him being a bad person. Which I feel dilutes the message the video is trying to tell.
As being born white does not make you a bad person, or even aware of the privileges that are afforded to you.
However....being born white places you in the majority of economical and generational superiority in regards to wealth/education/health care and security.
      This is "white" privilege......
And i understand that your statement " I grew up with little and never saw colour" is coming from a place of kindness.
However this statement denies the struggle that people of colour face on a daily basis.
You can choose not to see colour, but like the sky it exists.
Making the comment "Privileged people can be of any colour" really speaks to the mistep of this video, and how prevalent white supremacy/fragility is.
As its trying to say something impactful while dancing around its own message through tone-deaf portrayals of the class division.
The issues this video is clumsily trying to tackle are systemic. So deep in society that they hide behind many systems.
      Some being interpersonal,institutional,systemic and structural.
No another note I think being force to wear chains for generations would definitely make you feel like less of a person.... good thing the white race have never done that to any ofter race before 😅

It's not privilege if anyone can do or have what you have. I went to the military and retired after 22 years, then used the GI Bill for my bachelors and paid for my own masters then started my 2nd career. I make above 6 figures have a really nice house and a great car. That's not privilege as anyone could have gone the exact route I did if they have drive and a little intelligence.

You being able to not be stereotyped most times is privledge. Shit before 2012 it was not common for black girls to not have relaxers because our curls were considered not professional. That's a privledge. Do you get what we are saying now or do you need more. I would love for you to be black for a day but since I can't grant that I guess more videos might help but white privledge is just being able to be white and not get looked at like all the stereotypes of your ethnicity that are bad

Update 6-4-2021: Growing up in the 1970's I remember a few, but not many, of my fellow students who thought they were better, richer, greater than their fellow students. If children ever again return to actual class rooms in America, it is very, very unlikely you will see a single American child who thinks he or she is better than any other child on the planet. Nothing can possible be more humbling to any child than knowing he or she is growing up in the only country in history that already has a 140 Trillion Dollar Federal Debt that is growing by a million dollars every 90 seconds.

I feel like there would be a better way to explain privilege. I get that the video is supposed to be about "privilege" in general, but there must be a reason why you chose a Black man as the poor and downtrodden, while choosing the White man as the privileged crybaby. I grew up very poor on the South side of Chicago. I grew up getting jumped by the Black kids in the neighborhood because I'm White. I worked hard to get to the place I am in life now. I have NO love for that neighborhood. I feel no need to help the neighborhood. If the neighborhood want to succeed then each person can find it within themselves to be better people.

Understanding and engaging in self-reflection and discussions about privilege is an essential step to addressing individual and systemic inequities in our society. And as a matter of total coincidence, I have just released a video on self-reflection only yesterday. We must be aware of and honest about our personal perspectives and how these may or may not contribute to biases that in turn may contribute, even unintentionally, to prejudice, inequity, isolation, poverty, and violence. Schools present an ideal context for helping to guide conversations and learning opportunities for students.

Good intention. BUT it's soo cringe to see how forced this is... Yeah, white people threw black people in a hole centuries ago, and they are still struggling to get out of that hole. But today the way to change that is by stop being the victim. You shouldnt like to be the victim, and in these days everyone is looking forward to be oppressed, to be offended, to be a victim. It's like a drug. Black people should fight to change their culture. Only they have the power to change, white people wont clean the mess. Same with the middle east and africa, their suffering is because of the actions of european contries, specially England....

BBallMOU : I hear what you're saying however if someone is discriminated against for a job then that can hardly be called playing victim. I've posted a lot about racial issues and one thing that I hear a lot is "reverse racism" and the supporting comment for that is EOE/Affirmative Action. Yes, I'm sure there are times when a white person is passed over for a job which has gone instead to a minority but to take away those programs is to go back to the "honor system", which didn't work in the first place and which became the reason for those regulations in the first place.
I'm not saying that lazy people have not taken advantage of these regulations but there are outliers on both sides. If you see a barrier around a statue in a museum then it's likely that someone at some point climbed up on top of it and damaged it. The minority of the abusers always ruin it for the rest.
Using Affirmative Action again as an example, do you think that if it was to be repealed then everyone would be hired on their merit alone? Not likely; I was raised in the South so I've seen first-hand how minorities have been treated and it's not only about employment. I grew up going to Evangelical churches where people go directly from hearing the word of God to standing on the church steps in their cliques pointing fingers at the n-word family who just moved here and how no one should eat from that casserole.

I see what you’re saying. Let me give you an example. Let’s say you have a home and I burn it to the ground. You’re going have me arrested and make me pay for the damage cause it’s your home, you’re the victim, and you deserve justice. You’re not just going to sit back and say “oh well, guess I got to rebuild this myself.” Like I said I see what you’re trying but black people are trying to rebuild but they need assistance from people like you whether physically or financially. Hope this gives you a different perspective.

@@faithforever9791 it is not comparable. Let's take your example. Now say after you burn my house down, you die. Do I take your son to court for you having burned my house down? Is it your sons responsibility to pay towards my new home. Yes there have been unpleasant situations but nowadays to say that all whites are oppressors and must fix it is irrational. There has never been a better time to be a black person. Victimhood is a part of it, and people's opinions nowadays seem to be valued based on how 'oppressed' they are on a scale. I would love to hear a lecture on white privilege from Denzel Washington, or Michael B Jordan, but you'll notice that they dont usually get involved in the whole 'white privilege' dialogue

So money would solve the problem is how this situation plays so the guy with house that burned down can rebuild . While I wonder if experienced repeated house fires, how was it mitigated so decreased probably for another fire? Was house insurance never purchased over 400yrs? Was extra level of fire prevention efforts implemented ? Living in a high fire zone requires extra efforts to decrease repeating the terrible experience and aftermath of trauma. There are ample programs that are established in U.S. for low-income and minority to assist with this exact situation. It just requires the person to make an effort to contact them for help though.

"If someone confronts you about your privilege in a place of anger and hatred, if someone does not take the time or does not have the emotional energy to further explain to you where your privilege lies, know that it is still a kindness. Try to remember that the alternative to not being made aware of your privilege, no matter how it may sting, is your continued participation in the oppression of others. Someone is giving you an opportunity to do better. No matter how unpleasant the delivery, thank them. Now you can get to work on dismantling it."

Y'know instead of asking for help and keep asking how about being the help and starting the change that needs to happen. Anyone can do it. Plus there is multiple things that dont make sense in the video like his family lived 400 years in that neighborhood is wrong america has only existed for around less than 300 years not to mention that his neighborhood most likely wouldn't have been built. Second the white guy is made out to be an enemy when there really isn't a reason to and is only really there to make us feel bad for the other guy.

The world needs change, but feeling sorry and holding grudges will not get us anywhere. We will fall in the same pattern repeating for decades, change starts with forgiveness, communication, empathy, seeds that can help us move forward and grow a better future, but pointing fingers at people and stereotyping everyone well off as privileged as people stereotype by race is unfair, you have no idea what history people have had to get where they are, communivation, listen and learn. Everyone has a story, a lot of people are willing to help change the world, not everyone knows how, we need to talk.

What do you know of this "genuinely awesome person" who you do not know and his burnt down house? Nothing beyond what he has said. When you say any people are this and that you are already opening a gigantic can of worms that you can't possibly swim out of. Tough and intelligent people will prevail. Don't be an ally. Be an individual driven to do the right thing and help those who really need it. Don't help people who don't help themselves and never help those who cannot seem to learn from their mistakes. Everyone has some degree of privilege no matter where you come from and tribalism is never a good answer to people's social problems.
