About 14:26. They can make something similar to Classic Wotlk HC+ dungeons where you enter the regular dungeon and everyone click on an orb, then you activate the harder version. In this example only the leader should click on an ingame object and activate TW raid difficulty. It was an elegant way to add an extra difficulty without adding UI elements.
That makes sense, seems like a fairly simple solution. The other way would be to tune TW Raids to LFR levels, instead of Normal, and put them in the Queue. However, that would require splitting some old Raids into Wings. I think the Difficulty Orb is much easier to implement.
I think the most obvious solution is to flip the script. Old dungeons and raids should just have a certain level of difficulty to them and be engaging for casual players, straight up. There's no reason for them to be this trivially easy. If we really want this whole 1-shot malarky - fine. Make _THAT_ the orb. If the orb is for soloing then all the problems of getting people in and out won't matter because it's solo.
Pleasantly surprised to see that Guild customization is on the radar. Obviously it's a lower priority, but it means they are taking a look at old, forgotten things. Hopefully Guild Achievements also get another look.

@Ion A few things. First off, yall have done a phenomenal job on this expansion. there are a few hickups (guardian druid being meh and ret being broken). but other than that it honestly already feels like my favorite expansion of all time, and ive played since vanilla. so well done! secondly, when looking at the next thing to integrate with cross faction queued content. for pvp, consider looking into random bgs. we already have that traitor mode for pvp, but being able to queue for that is one of the main things i would love to do with my friends. its casual etc. Also maybe making a dps solo queue only mode or something like that. Maybe a 5v5 bg of sorts for rated. Use current maps, but limit it down a bit (i.e. only 2 of 3 carts running in the caves, side bases in AB dont work, that kind of thing) third, some sort of overhall for finding groups for M+, raids, and pvp. Not sure what, but it could probably use an over hall of sorts. Everyone spends a lot of time in there so it definitely wouldnt go to waste. Fourth, id recommend looking at the void storage as a way to have that server wide bank. Adding a money option in there much like guild banks would be phenomenal. lastly, Well done to all of yall. You should truly be proud of this expansion. Its the best that i can remember wow being.
Update Garrison's for every expansion, allow us to bring our ALT's as NPC's like we did in Warlord's of Draneor for when we need to bring a healer, dps or a tank.
Just leaving this comment here for hopefully MrGM or even Ion if he's perusing the comments regarding the timewalking for raids and if having it only be scaled up version for a week would be a solution community is happy with. I can't speak for everyone but I actually do think it's a good idea. Especially if it's hyped up in that way. This week, BC dungeons and the BT raid will be at current power and you are able to try them out, and then go back to farming your stuff the next week if you choose. The disclaimer is I think it has to be "worth it." What I mean by this is to just make timewalking this big deal thing. Expand to more raids if possible in the future. Have old PvP stuff be obtainable/more obtainable for this week. During BC Timewalking have the marks of honor from Hellfire be able to buy something. If you go all out, the people who don't want to be inconvenienced by the raid being timewalking only would not mind as much. But, if it's just inconveniencing 1000 people to help out a different 1000 people that feels bad. Also just like this current timewalking event where you can get heroic raid item from doing the 5 dungeon quest, do not be afraid to give meaningful rewards for doing the time walking. Should it equal a mythic piece, or a +20 piece, or an elite gladiator piece, probably not, but heroic raid -- 1 item, seems quite fine for example for the dungeons. If rewards are good, people will do it! And that will make all the effort put in worth it as well. Good interview by MrGM and DF has been marvelous so far so hopefully Ion and the devs can keep that going!
I'm playing WoW from the very first day it started baaaaack in the days. And I still return on every expansion to see what it has to offer. Dragonflight is now my favorite expac. It's also a first time ever for me to buy a 1 year subscription for wow and not regretting a minute I played a game when I had a chance. You guys did something great here. Stay strong!
A question for a future Interview, could we get a frame/window that tells us what Raid-skips our characters have unlocked? So that I know if my Druid or Mage or other alts have unlocked the Antorus skips or the Hellfire Citadel skips without having to fly there or run a script from WoWHead to check if I finished the Skip-Quest?

(Sorry, adding comments as I watch) Ion mentioned concerns about sending players to 2007 graphics for an eighth of their time during a Mythic+ season. Time permitting, then, would it not be a fun idea to "remaster" these older dungeons as they're added? It's more work of course, but over the years we've seen visual overhauls of different mobs as patches roll out. It could be nice to start visually overhauling old dungeons in the same way, and maybe tweaking some mob packs and mechanics to keep it in line with modern Mythic+ game design. We have Classic for the original experience, after all. As for "why not just make a brand new dungeon" with that time, I have an easy answer: The cool factor! Remember that many players who play this game are familiar with the old dungeons and would be delighted to see them overhauled.
Ion definitely comes off as a person who loves trying to make the game way better with people who really want to make the game better, and hearing ideas from fans that are enthusiastic about cool changes. Rather than saying, this game is dead and worthless and just horrible shit that doesn't help anyone. I'm really intrested in dragonflight, there is so much cool stuff to do that I don't HAVE to do, makes the game feel so much bigger. I feel like there's so much new stuff I'm finding and learning it's almost like I'm asking myself "where do I begin!" In a positive way. Reps feel old school. The game feels just really nice right now. It reminds me of why I love MMOs!
First time in a long time where an expansion is released and there were no red flags. It is insane that having no red flag is considered as a positive thing which should just be common sense. I am still amazed at the people who defended convanent, azurite gear, maw and other broken feature on released and the developer who thought they were good ideas. They needed this to happen for them to get humbled. The trust they need to build up again is something I am looking forward to.
The Allied Race unlocks were a massive barrier for me coming back to the game. Since I last played WoW, I have made new friends. They prefer the opposite faction from what I typically play, but the only races that seemed interesting to me on that faction required a major unlock quest that would require me to play as a race I have ZERO interest in playing for an extensive period of time just to unlock the ability for me to play as an aesthetic that I like. And the inverse was true - the main race my friend was interested in on my faction was also an allied race. It was a major struggle for us to find a way to play together thanks to the barrier. Glad you asked that question and I hope they consider removing those unlocks - at least for the Legion ones, since they're more than two full expansions old.
Would have liked to hear them answer the follow up question from "What can we expect from Drathyr transmog?" which is "Why did you design them outside of any current transmog profile?" Like, you made the lock and the key and have to make a workaround to get it to fit together. I can speculate many reasons, but I wonder what theirs was.
Speaking of Trader's Tender, it would be nice if they would increase the amount of Currencies you can get each month, cuz only being able to afford 2 items each month is not fun. I'm not asking to be able to buy everything from the Trade Post, but more then 2 items would be nice.
"There's definitely no third spec in 10.1 - I wish we were that good at hiding things" You clever goose. I read that as 10.1.5 with inflection-based deflection
Even Ion agrees that Shadowlands sucked 😂 positivity helps a lot! Great to hear we are hearing about upcoming content soon after! Hopefully, they are working on Player housing or at least Guild halls would add a massive opportunity for profs and other content!
I mean, content wise, it wasn't the best yeah. Though I imagine that simply means they'll do the next Cosmic Realms better next time too. Hopefully the Progenitor stuff is also better used in terms of exploration and whatnot across the years to give players a better impression of them, as they are the creators of the Cosmos.
@@preds43 they just need to not be mentally retarded and out of touch with the game. The stuff they were adding to the game made no sense, and people began to question if they were even playing the game. People saw glaring problem before the expansion was released and pointed out 3 times. Yet they did nothing and pushed it out anyways, it is just embarrassing. It is amazing how they went from 3 expansion with glaringly obvious broken mechanic on release to Dragon Flight with non of that. Hopeful for the future but is clear, a lot of trust is lost. The sales and the retention of Dragon Flight is not as high as before.
@@preds43 I strongly hope the progenitors are not used at all. Let's try to bring Shadowlands lore up as little as possible. We already had a full restructuring of the cosmology at the end of legion in order to open up light and void as potencial main antagonists, everything added in Shadowlands was entirely unnecessary and only serves to take the mistery and mistique away from the setting.
@Krayos-13 Shadowlands basically exists to give us an underlying narrative to the Cosmic Powers, and it's something we've been doing for awhile now, especially with our own Factions, and now with the Dragonflights: Unity. The plot point that's being set up is that we have to unite and bring together the 6 Cosmic Powers, and basically have that unity be used to stand against the 7th power. It's quite literally just the same underlying theme, but used in a Cosmic sense. The First Ones, the shit with the Jailer, etc was just a way of introducing that ideal. So the Zereths and whatnot are staying sadly. They have to in order for this story to be told. Besides, Light and Void isn't the biggest conflict anymore. It's big, yeah, but it's not the main ordeal. They are however the most bickering of forces in terms of their duality.
Shadowlands sucked indeed but at least the raids were good and had some good dungeons. CN and most of Sepulcher were good. I feel like DF focused more on translating abilities into talent trees and professions-reps but didn't do much for playstyle and instanced content. The dungeons are not good, especially in M+ and the raid is very weak.
Idea for cross faction queued content: Make it so it's availble once you got your first character to max lvl, so new players don't get confused, and add maybe an option to enable or disable cross faction grouping when you queue up.
Good interview. Question for Ion: As he is "watcherdev", does he have the ability to view anyone's screen whenever he wants? And if so, does he do that often? Many times, I have had the sense that I am being watched.
Time walking raids should be closer to LFR difficulty imo and also use the LFR queue system. The alternative in its current form is just that almost no one does them because they are too much of a pain, or fall apart after however many bosses. Imo
Hearing about the limitations about Dracthyr transmog, makes me think: What if they built the model in such a way that enables better quality transmog (more resolution, non mirrored gear, etc.) and they are changing the other character models and old gear to fit this new system? That's why they didn't bother to make old gear available on Dracthyr model. 🤯
@Ion 1:46 : i’m having a blast but please create single person instances of story raid encounters as evergreen content. It is so difficult to care for the story of Wow when you join in late to the party and miss passed expansions and you never get the payoff. It’s probably been said a lot already. But you’re doing great. Keep it up 💪
Personally, I'm not sure it's worth sacrificing a week of transmog farming just to make queueing into the Timewalking Raid a smoother experience. Granted I'm talking about this from a mog farmer's POV, but that feels like you're introducing a larger problem to deal with a smaller one. I appreciate asking the community about it, though! Also I'd be down for Timewalking LFR Raids jussayin'
the one thing Im really hoping they address soon is the racial mounts. My poor human horses and Night elf sabers look so polygon compared to the new stuff
cross faction queuing needs to come sooner rather than later. i hope its actually at the top of their list because cross faction guilds lose a ton of their value especially to casual guilds if you cant do things like timewalk together.
No 3rd spec anytime soon, if at all? It'd be neat if we at least got a cosmetic spell effect like warlock's green flames that was reminiscent of the black dragonflight, then. Like molten lava and stone instead of fire, ice, and green.
Woah, wait. Timewalking zones? So there is something on the radar, by Blizz to implement TW zones? Does that mean opting to play/quest/level in pre-Cata Darkshore (during perhaps a Classic Timewalking)?? Oh, please Blizz implement this!
What about bfa time walking outdoor content adding Warfronts? I understand they aren't popular but you could have them give some item upgrade currency and a good bit of timewalking tokens as a reward? So 4 or 5 times a year you can queue for them at any level perhaps?
Here is a thought that baffles me to this day, the day transmog went live, class identity was thrown in the garbage which is absolutly fine... there is nothing of it left so why are we not able to transmog leather or plate on a mage for example, it makes zero sense to lock as it is in wow's current state ... it would open up a million more combinations and is a no brainer in almost every other game already....
In Guild Wars 2 you can be in multiple guilds, play with anyone, anywhere, on any server. And the game has no lag with 200+ players/mounts on screen. Pretty incredible. WoW has much better story/lore - mostly thanks to Chronicle. Which is why I keep going back to WoW
Really loving WoW Dragonflight so far. Not usually commenting on things online, but the Blizzard people need more positive feedback. Loving the evoker class so far ❤
why is timewalking raids not just LFR though, they already have a system for this, what technically limitation could there possibly be keeping them from using a system that already ques people for raids
Old school mindsets where stuff like LFR doesn't deserve to have nice things. If you're not doing content in an actual premade, it's not worth their time.
LFR came in during Dragon Soul (pretty sure), so the older raids don't have the tech attached and/or difficulty tuning appropriate for 25 random people to queue.
@@x1plus1x and yet they have the technology to scale up boss health and damage to be relevant to current player level and gear? I think not, they could easily do it. The problem is the same problem that looking for a raid has always had, you might wait in queue for 45 minutes to get into a group that’s falling apart because most people don’t take LFR seriously.
legacy rep grind maybe instead of account wide, they give account wide rep gain token that boosts alt rep gain by massive amounts to fast track it into doing it, but not having to spend much time on it.. the token being boosted rep by association .. faction trusts your alts bc they have that rep token to prove worthiness upfront, but just need to run the paces to vet trustedness. Like a quick 10 mins or so per level of rep tier, guaranty rep drop rate, etc
They had that system in MoP. Whenever a character hit Revered they could buy a token that unlocked +100% Rep bonus for that particular faction, which worked for both that main character and any alts.
i wish just once someone asked him about state of balance at lower level pvp and why it has been largely ignored for so many years. People with x3 stats&hp. Getting killed within a gcd with nothing to react to due to all the instant casting. Way too many abilities for new players. 25+ minute wait for a single bg in most brackets. Starter edition new players getting mixed with xpoff twinks. Literal sheeps vs pack of wolfs... Why leveling pvp not scaled from 10 to 59 to a single bracket? Why do you make leveling gear from wod content x2 better than anything else? Why is this man still has a job.
If you are going to keep the faction war/differences between us at least add world pvp content for us to play in, Battle for Nazjatar, Tolbarad/Wintergrasp (zone + pvp area to fight for) etc. Why keep a feature if you are going to keep ignoring it?. Its incredibly annoying that you (warcraft team) refuse to add more world pvp activities. Add more pvp objectives and dailies already and give more rewards for paticipating. There is one Wpvp quest that nobody is doing anymore because the rewards sucks, add a mount/transmog and toys exclusive to this. Give people a reason to "warcraft".
I’ve been cranking as DK but I noticed that my dps is platuing and other specs way out dps me. Now I’m going back and grinding out the renown again because I’m trying a shaman. I’m hoping it’s not a “me” problem. I’ve cranked dps in past expansions. But I feel like this expansion if you don’t have heroic and mythic raid gear your dps is really capped and you can run multiple raids and get 1 piece across multiple raid IF you’re lucky.
Why not make remodeled version of classic and bc dungeons for M+ to adhere to current aesthetics. Then give the M+ versions new mechanics, as well give M+ dungeons a specific affix to its era. Like giving BC M+ dungeons some burning fel related affix, or a Wotlk M+ dungeon some freezing, chilled affix.

Pleasantly surprised to see that Guild customization is on the radar. Obviously it's a lower priority, but it means they are taking a look at old, forgotten things. Hopefully Guild Achievements also get another look.
Great focus topics. Well established back and forth Q. & A. for not just the core before the scene but for everyone in a simplified/easy-to-follow conversation. Thank you. Makes us excited for 10.1 and beyond!
Winding Slitherdrake gives me Wurm vibes from The Great Divide in EQ, and I love it.
Make a bronze dragonflight raid that pulls from old content that would be amazing 🎉
Then at the end make it wipe everything from Shadowlands out of the timeline entirely
@@BatJeff What’s Shadowlands? Never heard of it
@@BatJeffShadowlands??? What is it? Can we eat it!
@@BatJeff Nah, in 11.0 "Return of the Old Gods" it will be revealed that N'Zoth defeated us, and entire Shadowlands was just a nightmare made to break our will.

Then what's the deal with DF? Simple. We are playing versions of our characters from a different timeline, and first raid of 11.0 will be us trying to save ourselfe from the og timelane
I really like this idea for a raid concept Like onyixa, rag, neltharion. Like themeatic to this xpac
Love that blizzard is outwardly talking about this expansion !
you asked most of the things i wanted to know so thanks for that, about timewalking i'd say if there were more incentives to do it we wouldn't have any issues about finding more people, extra rewards from that expansion could help .
It’s a shame wow isn’t bigger than it is I just feel like the game could be massive again if people gave it a chance. But I can totally understand why people wouldn’t even try it out
It can get bigger and it will, just need to keep reinforcing the positive feedback like Ion was mentioning.
DF been receiving a lot of great feedback, a lot of the haters and people complaining are still hating on the past, which is fair enough but the game is in a good place at the moment and even the devs are happy
Its still number 1 but yeah its not as big as it used to be it can make a come back if they dont fuck everything up later
Magisters Terrace mythic + would be awesome, that one was good and still is
I would love to say thank you to all the devs im about 2 months into wow coming from eso and this is what a true mmo is supposed to be earn mounts earn everything and it’s actually hard you can push your self with your guild I love it keep up the good work 😊🎉
@Ion A few things.
Use current maps, but limit it down a bit (i.e. only 2 of 3 carts running in the caves, side bases in AB dont work, that kind of thing)
third, some sort of overhall for finding groups for M+, raids, and pvp.
Thanks for what you do. Your focus on being informative and objective is very appreciated.
Update Garrison's for every expansion, allow us to bring our ALT's as NPC's like we did in Warlord's of Draneor for when we need to bring a healer, dps or a tank.
Loved this!
Very nice interview!!
Finessed. Well played, Mr. Hazzikostas, well played
Could they at least make Evoker Tier work on the Dragon form? Dont even need to go back and make things work but going forward it would be nice
Agree
That third evoker spec answer at the beginning was so sneaky lol
Yep. Of course it isn’t in 10.1. It will be in the story and the spec will be added in 10.1.7
@@nathanw4897 very likely it will be a major patch change like 10.2
@@hrd1711 They will hardly add a new spec in a .2 patch with a new race for world first coming up, so a .5 or .7 patch seems more likley
@@hrd1711 I think they would want to introduce before a new season though. So people could play it and gear up if they want to switch.
@@levilamperouge8917 10.1.5 is my bet, what he said about the 10.1.5 PTR going up shortly after 10.1 release, and May being a big month for world of warcraft. Tells me they are getting that PTR up quick to balance the new spec
Thank you for asking about SoO
For once, the person interviewing Ion seemed more nervous than him. V cool to see these kind of chill candid interviews.
(Sorry, adding comments as I watch)
Ion mentioned concerns about sending players to 2007 graphics for an eighth of their time during a Mythic+ season.
Great video! :D
I really love Ion. He's just really genuine and the more freedom he gets I think the better the game will get.
lmao 🤣😂🤣 You're funny
First time in a long time where an expansion is released and there were no red flags. It is insane that having no red flag is considered as a positive thing which should just be common sense. I am still amazed at the people who defended convanent, azurite gear, maw and other broken feature on released and the developer who thought they were good ideas.
They needed this to happen for them to get humbled. The trust they need to build up again is something I am looking forward to.
so happy with DF, teh game is going in the right direction .
I love your content and all your videos. Keep up the good work!
Ion seems to be listening to your suggestions😮
Was a brilliant interview and good to see ion so up beat positive and happy to discuss all these topics and take feedback. Cheers!
Great interview!
Speaking of Trader's Tender, it would be nice if they would increase the amount of Currencies you can get each month, cuz only being able to afford 2 items each month is not fun. I'm not asking to be able to buy everything from the Trade Post, but more then 2 items would be nice.
2:32 Gotta get that PTR up quick to test/balance the 3rd evoker spec :)
"There's definitely no third spec in 10.1 - I wish we were that good at hiding things"
You clever goose. I read that as 10.1.5 with inflection-based deflection
take what Ion says with a grain of salt. He once said. "There are no Old Gods in BfA." and we all know how that ended.
FUCKIN KNEW IT
Even Ion agrees that Shadowlands sucked 😂 positivity helps a lot!
Question for Ion:
As he is "watcherdev", does he have the ability to view anyone's screen whenever he wants? And if so, does he do that often? Many times, I have had the sense that I am being watched.
Ion seems like a rad dude
Time walking raids should be closer to LFR difficulty imo and also use the LFR queue system. The alternative in its current form is just that almost no one does them because they are too much of a pain, or fall apart after however many bosses. Imo
Hearing about the limitations about Dracthyr transmog, makes me think: What if they built the model in such a way that enables better quality transmog (more resolution, non mirrored gear, etc.) and they are changing the other character models and old gear to fit this new system? That's why they didn't bother to make old gear available on Dracthyr model. 🤯
damn MrGM... i didn't knew you were going to interview him... i would make you ask Ion to let dracthyr dragonride by themselves with soar!
Ion kinda the man I think he's just as hype to play the update
My poor human horses and Night elf sabers look so polygon compared to the new stuff
weird questions and all over the place but good for ion for sitting thru it
cross faction queuing needs to come sooner rather than later. i hope its actually at the top of their list because cross faction guilds lose a ton of their value especially to casual guilds if you cant do things like timewalk together.
What I would love to see is debloat of old currencies to a single currency! As to remove the barrier to collect old tmorg and mounts.
instead of timewalking..maybe put actual present date/expac content into an old zone that makes sense.
I would love to see the option to add fated to the calendar.
Horde guild adds your alliance toon, proceeds to beat the shit out of your endlessly ..this is what they don't want to happen.
Emerald Dream as a mega dungeon could be nice - I don't think it should be a raid, we've had Emerald Nightmare already
"how is the team" well the ones who did not quit or get fired lol
Here is a thought that baffles me to this day, the day transmog went live, class identity was thrown in the garbage which is absolutly fine... there is nothing of it left so why are we not able to transmog leather or plate on a mage for example, it makes zero sense to lock as it is in wow's current state ... it would open up a million more combinations and is a no brainer in almost every other game already....
Ion is the last man standing in a shinking ship
If you ever get a chance to put another question to Ion maybe ask him about the new players experience in wow and address how bad it is atm.
Most of the answers for the questions asked were meh. A lot of maybe or not near the future responses. Kinda bummed.
awesome
In Guild Wars 2 you can be in multiple guilds, play with anyone, anywhere, on any server. And the game has no lag with 200+ players/mounts on screen. Pretty incredible. WoW has much better story/lore - mostly thanks to Chronicle. Which is why I keep going back to WoW
It's called community in wow
the game is a lot better now i like it a lot
Just once I want somebody to ask a question like.. ."Holy Paladins.. what happened?"
Where is the Juicy Race/Class combo questions . Or classic + / hardocre stuff? we need the answerssss

Respectfully asking for classic era/ som plans Ion. 🙏
i wish just once someone asked him about state of balance at lower level pvp and why it has been largely ignored for so many years.
Even battlegrounds.
Why is all the PvP content just arenas? All the rewards too. I don't play Warcraft for 3v3.

Feels like where moving away from Horde vs Alliance
I'm sorry but what are these questions?
dragonriding after this xpac, if not used is a HUGE miss
Why not make remodeled version of classic and bc dungeons for M+ to adhere to current aesthetics. Then give the M+ versions new mechanics, as well give M+ dungeons a specific affix to its era. Like giving BC M+ dungeons some burning fel related affix, or a Wotlk M+ dungeon some freezing, chilled affix.
MrGM, can you please ask Ion to contact me so I can bring this beautiful game of Warcraft to life as a theme park attraction
When will PvP Island Expeditions be soloable?
