She's one of the only people who could sing with any accuracy that style of musical and show tune with the classical polish that the mid 20th century sought. She's a proper gem.

To all of those Carrie Underwood worshippers, this is how it is REALLY done.
Amen! Carrie was good at singing, but her acting was lifeless. I hate saying that, because I really love Carrie Underwood, but there are things that you are meant to do and things that you are not. She has natural talent for singing, just not acting.
I do enjoy true worship sung by Carrie though 😊. You know, the Jesus-loves-us-and-is-totally-awesome kind of worship.

I have to give Sierra props for singing the entire song just as it was in the film and in the same key. That is, compared to that chopped up version sung by Connie Fisher in the 2006 revival. I'm never a fan of chopping up and shortening songs for musical revivals.
This is how maria should be portrayed. Not in a carrie underwood's style

I have to think it's because if her popularity
People see Carrie they want to see the original (if they haven't already) the like the original they want more
It opens the theater world to the general public and gives them a sense of connection they wouldn't find otherwise
Like how Hamilton invited the rap community into theater

You know sometimes whenever I am watching a video of something Sierra Boggess is singing and they are just like why is it a different key? Why is she belting the entire thing? Why this, why that. It just gets on nerves when people do this because every performer has his or her own way of singing things. A lit of people are like well Christine in Phantom isn't a belting role. So what... Sierra Boggess made it into a belting role. Or when people are like oh my gosh not the key as the original I don't like it. I hate it when people do that. Like with Phantom, Ramin Karimloo had to have the key changed because it fit his range better than the original key that Crawford sang. RANT OVER

What did Ramin have changed? because I thought it was all the original keys and nothing was changed. The only one I know of is think of me. The original goes from D Major to Eb Major, however the 25th anniversary moves from D Major to F Major.

wow, i heard that right away too, yeah she's sharp, that adrenaline is racing!! i hate Julies last note on the soundtrack too... sounds strained and pushed, like she wasn't ready for it. so i've listened to Sierra now several times and wow the vocal gymnastics on this piece, head voice, chest voice and all of a sudden here's the money note in a register not yet visited AND It's a G natural, not an Ab.... and yet do you hear it finally come into perfect alignment at the end AND how she holds it just an extra half second past everyone else just to let you know she f******* nailed it?!.... now THAT is a pro.... THAT is a pro......

With all due respect to all of the Sierra worshippers. She is not the only young beautiful talented soprano/actress working today. There are several young women who could have done the charatcer of Maria justice for The Sound of Music special. Sierra is not the only one from musical theatre who is incredible and would have made the NBC event truly wonderful. And for the record. I am not a Carrie Underwood worshipper. I'm talking about authentic theatre performers.

Eddie Going Singing in a different accent gives the song character. Also, some or most, but not all, sopranos have the tendency to sing with an accent because a soprano has to open their vowels more than an alto would. And opening your vowels more gives a person that accent.
