I saw that Stupid Deal, but that must have sold out quick. I didn't get mine that cheap, but I got a good deal on mine, and it is a great guitar. I like the BC Riches. They sound good, play well, and they fill a niche not already covered by any Gibson or Fender guitars.
He is right changing the Pickups , The DD are just what they put in all the imports, not bad ,but not what is in the USA Version that sounds better and is the exact same build with upgraded materials. I have the same guitar and it sounds better than most USA any brand guitars (after Pickup swap) and plays and stays in tune much better!
I've seen a couple sites that said SH-2 and SH-4, but all the ones I've actually seen have Duncan Designed pickups. In my case, the HB-103 set, which are DD versions of the SH-6 Duncan Distortion. I thought it was a little dull sounding, so I put in a "real" SH-4 I had, and am much happier with the tone. There was also some strangeness with the original bridge pickup wiring that was making the phase switch almost completely ineffective, which I fixed at the same time.
Sweetass guitar...The switches on mine are tap ,tap, neck pickup on/ off switch so you can use the pickup toogle as a kill switch for the Bridge pickup . Don't know if that is the way it supposed to be ..I know on other guitars it is a Phase switch but I like it and will change the pickups but leave the wiring as is , since there are not two volume controls to shut off the neck (that I know Neil does not use much any way so he might of requested this wiring)
By a weird coincidence, I actually just saw the receipt for this the other day, and the total was $928. That was including shipping and a hard case which I know I paid extra for. I don't remember what the original price of the guitar was.
I agree on changing pickups to try and change what a guitar is - e.g. your jazz guitar example or say, trying to make a Les Paul out of a Strat. But if you're implying it's not realistic to tweak the sound by changing brands or models of pickups, then you and I will just have to disagree on that. I have made noticeable tonal differences on many of my guitars that way, and made them better for what I wanted.
Now that is a very nice solid guitar nice buy man
Yes. Mine was doing almost nothing till I reversed the wires on the bridge pickup. Now I can hear it.
