The fact that concept of multiverse already implemented around Marvel and MCU just makes it whole a lot better. You can't hate this version of GR anymore cause it's canon event.
I love that this Johnny Blaze is all but certainly the one who shows up in Agents of Shield when Robbie Reyes makes his deal, based on the style of the bike.
Nicholas Cage pushed to play Ghost Rider because he is a fan of the Comic and he felt that he could do the character justice with his crazyness and Nic-things. Also the skull is an exact replica of Nics actual skull from an MRI.
My favorite part about the transformation sequence is that, like Wolverine, they really sell that this isn't painless. He's literally burning from the inside out, his brain boiling, his mind fracturing as it bonds with the Spirit of Vengeance. Sure, he gets used to it, and maybe it gets easier when he embraces it, but he still feels every bit of it.
I love how they did the graphics for the Penance Stare, as well as the mechanics of it. Turning someone's sins around on them and burning out their eyeballs in the process is a worse fate than death, in my mind.
I remember going to see this at the theaters and honestly it's so cheesy but I remember seeing johnny blaze transform to ghostrider and I was blown away. I grew up loving those older marvel movies pre-mcu like spiderman, X-Men, fantastic four, punisher and this movie. They were just so cool to me as a kid and they just make me feel so nostalgic. But idk if I could take Nicholas cage seriously as Johnny Blaze now tho. 😅
Nicholas Cage was born for this role. Peter Fonda also made an excellent Mephisto. Heck, the entire cast is 🔥! You kept calling him Johnny Storm, but it's Johnny Blaze!
I remember watching this movie in theaters at nine years old. I didn't know it was a Marvel movie since I was so used to the light-hearted movies at the time. I have been waiting to see the character again.
12:05 that shot of him gliding above choppers was ICONIC when i was child then i joined aero engineering. and the first class of college my professor asked "how many of you watched ghost rider iconic jump over choppers?" that man ruined this movie for me 😂by explaining how physically it's not possible with blades running
I watched it when it literally came out, my brothers wanted to scare me cause i was 7 but it instantly became one of my favs as a child and 16 years later, i still love it.
You asked the question at 25:47, “How do you ensure the jacket doesn’t catch on fire?” In the comic book, Ghost Rider’s flame is metaphysical, not physical. That was always the writers explanation of as to why GR’s threads never got burned. And if you read the actual comic, there was a character called Caretaker, and I think that’s who Sam Elliot played.
I hope someday Ghost Rider is portrayed properly in the MCU. In terms of raw physical strength he can take on The Hulk and in terms of how powerful his magic is even Doctor Strange the Sorcerer Supreme himself gives Ghost Rider a wide berth! Also the best on screen Ghost Rider is Robbie Reyes from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Also coupled with the fact that his bike is one of the fastest objects in the known Marvel universe and his pence stare once took out Galactus in a Ghost Rider comic run, he is one of Marvel's most powerful beings yet very few people know just what he is actually capable of
@@silentassason yup, the punisher was a loophole cause he didn't harm innocents but I forget what the reason they used for why it didn't work on Thanos

This movie is so good. May be the first movie I saw in theaters, though most of what I remember is seeing the Spider-Man 3 trailer in front of it and the awesome Spider Bait song at the end of the movie. Spider-Man 3 is far more nostalgia and I have far more childhood memories of it. But Ghost Rider is still a fun movie I enjoy. Also, same composer did both movies (plus Hellraiser). I love the Spider-Man 3 score, and I definitely hear similar music in Ghost Rider. And this one is for Erik Voss, MEPHISTO!
I’d like to see characters like this pop up in Secret Wars. I’ve always wanted to see Wesley Snipes’ Blade, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, & RDJ’s Iron Man sharing a screen as the pillars of the superhero genre. Throw in Chris Evans, Andrew Garfield, & great FOX characters like Deadpool & Michael Fassbender’s Magneto. I’m not holding my breath on RDJ, Snipes, or Evans, but I could definitely see the others (FoX-Men & Spider-Men) banking off an Avengers crossover decades in the making. Then they can hit a multiversal reboot with a new cast of Mutants + potentially a new take on other MCU heroes that have been portrayed before.
When Ghost Rider makes his way into the MCU, I hope they bring back Nick Cage. We've had a Spider-Man team up, now let's get all the Ghost Rider's together.
Mark 40:02. In "Practical Magic" Nicole Kidman's Witch used her her magic to also drive cross-country like that to get to her family home without causing collateral damage. But in both examples, I'm reminded of that movie company logo. 🤔
Mark 50:56. "Prison"? That was just a temporary holding cell at the police station. That's why it had so many guys in it. Communities and counties have jail facilities. You don't go to prison until you're at the state and federal levels. Granted, because of overcrowding, there have been transfers.
Donal Logue portrayed Quinn in the 1st Blade movie 9 years prior to this one, and Sam Elliott portrayed Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross in 2003's Hulk only 4 years prior to this movie. Of course, Elliott was the first to portray Betty Ross' father before the now late actor William Hurt had taken the role in part of a long lineup of comic book adaptations in what is currently known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe!!!!
What I love about Ghost Rider is that he is a literal powerhouse. His power is limitless Johnny is just a limiter that keeps the rider in check. Not to mention anything a ghost rider touches or drives becomes his "Ride" or deadly weapon. Also because his fire is "Hell Fire" he can damage and kill almost anyone including Meta-Humans with healing factors. Ghost Rider is truly one of the most underrated badass Marvel characters!
Some backstory on the comics, Johnny Blaze made a deal with Mephisto to save his father, Mephisto In return fused Johnny's soul with the demon Zarathos, ever since johnny and others have to spend eternity collecting souls for mephisto.
Mark 51:37. Hehe! I remember how some dummies that thought of themselves as smarties, but not the candy kind, complained about how it was impossible for him to do what he was doing! The worst ones even tried to use physics-based explanations! They needed to learn the definitions of words like "paranormal", "supernatural" and "magic" and "omnipotence"! 😁
Fun facts: Johnny Blaze's crash where he fell onto the front wheel, that was an actual fail by the stuntman, but they kept it in. Another fun fact is that the skull of the Ghost Rider was Nicholas Cage's actual skeleton being used to create the CGI of the Rider's face
Always enjoyed this when it came out, look forward to your thoughs! Personally it's one of my fave Cage roles ❤ 33:00 Let's RIDE... Forgot how badass that moment was, dunno what I'd wanna ride most, but, i think its the horse 😂 🐎🔥
The best scene in the film to me will always be when Johnny realizes the old man is not only Carter Slade..but that hes also a Ghost Rider.. as they both transform and ride off into the darkness.. As a kid this film was so hauntingly beautiful! One of my favorites of all time..
Yes, he got ripped cause he tried for the role of Superman. Also, he cover his Ghostrider tattoo. I was waiting for the third one when Dan Ketch takes the Ghostrider powers by touching the bike and make Johnny Blaze ride with him along together and fight Vengeance. The good about it the movie is that it doesn't take place in New York (X-men or Avengers) or California (Avengers West Coast).
Mark 40:33. Sam Elliott! He must have a sense of humor! He voiced the father of the character voiced by Kevin James in that one animated cartoon movie in which the makers of it didn't know that female bovines that are called "cows" means that they are mothers! Heifers are the virgins. All cows are females just as all bulls are males. But in this movie, they had "girl cows" and "boy cows" and both could be milked! 😁
I finally watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent this past weekend, and it definitely makes movies and reactions like this even more incredibly enjoyable...what a feat ! =)
I personally really love this ghost rider movie sure it's not particularly special but it's incredibly entertaining and nic cage kills it love that your watching all these older marvel movies hopefully you watch the sequel spirit of vengeance that's really good also I prefer the 1st but it's a good sequel
21:48 In an interview (one of those "actor answers the internets most searched questions") Nicolas Cage confirmed that is his real body in that scene. He also said that because everyone thinks it's cgi he'll never put the effort into getting in shape for a movie again.
rewatching this again it has alot of really good stuff in it. I think Mark Steven Johnson did a underated job on this as well as Daredevil. no one ever brings him up when talking about that era of marvel. I feel like if he made this same movie today with modern CG and resources it would be done better and looked at more favorably. he was making modern marvel movies before they were.
7.3K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome! Thanks! 😊 Notes: Because of the autoplay function I'm posting before the shout out ends, okay. Tara, brings new meaning to looking at goosebumps! I imagine them to be nice ones at that! 😅 A "negative comment"? Hmm. - Look at that Minus Sign! It is also known as a Negative Symbol! I haven't seen the movie since it was new, as far as I recall. If I viewed it at my brother's house, though, I was probably too sleepy to remember doing so. Hmm. I enjoyed Jessica Alba as "Sue Storm" more than seeing that mole on Eva's face. That poor lizard burning to death is saddening. Other than that, I enjoyed the movie as much as I did the "Fantastic Four" movie. 😎👍

16:09 THE ULTIMATE TRANSFORMATION EVER
Mark 51:37.
Personally it's one of my fave Cage roles ❤
33:00 Let's RIDE...
Forgot how badass that moment was, dunno what I'd wanna ride most, but, i think its the horse 😂 🐎🔥
I find it amazing how the Ghost Raider upgrades wherever he puts on or what he haves
This movie was fun to watch when I saw it, Nicolas Cage is good in this movie! 👍
One of my subtle favorite superhero films!
29:33 iconic ghost rider scene from my childhood
Cage in the MCU? Freaking awesome.
I love love love this movie so much!!!! So glad you reacted to it! You guys were just as excited as I am everytime I watch. So fun!
I finally watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent this past weekend, and it definitely makes movies and reactions like this even more incredibly enjoyable...what a feat ! =)
Gabriel Luna plays a great Ghost Rider in Agents of Shield s4 as the Robbie Reyes version.
Hope they bring him back man
@@NadeemShekh-uy9zn Fingers crossed.
THIS IS THE ULTIMATE MOVIE/MOMENT OF GHOST RIDER EVER.
Yeahhhhhhh
💀🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I always love when Peter Fonda plays a villain, especially the Devil. RIP, sir.
Peter Fonda as Mephisto was amazing
I personally really love this ghost rider movie sure it's not particularly special but it's incredibly entertaining and nic cage kills it love that your watching all these older marvel movies hopefully you watch the sequel spirit of vengeance that's really good also I prefer the 1st but it's a good sequel
I demand a third Ghost Rider movie man
21:48 In an interview (one of those "actor answers the internets most searched questions") Nicolas Cage confirmed that is his real body in that scene. He also said that because everyone thinks it's cgi he'll never put the effort into getting in shape for a movie again.
I can not stop cackling at Greg repeatedly saying Johnny Storm.
The fact that Matt Long who plays young Johnny Blaze is Zeke from Manifest is a fun notice to see this time around
Anyone that has their own tomb ready n waiting for them is a different type of person.😂 love Nicholas Cage!
rewatching this again it has alot of really good stuff in it. I think Mark Steven Johnson did a underated job on this as well as Daredevil. no one ever brings him up when talking about that era of marvel. I feel like if he made this same movie today with modern CG and resources it would be done better and looked at more favorably. he was making modern marvel movies before they were.
I just love that I'm not the only one that mixes up Johnny Storm and Johnny Blaze.
The amount of times Greg calls him Johnny Storm instead of Johnny Blaze, has me dying 😂 really still got Fantastic 4 on the mind lol
7.3K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome! Thanks! 😊
Notes: Because of the autoplay function I'm posting before the shout out ends, okay.
Tara, brings new meaning to looking at goosebumps! I imagine them to be nice ones at that! 😅
A "negative comment"?
