Memory eternal to Philip Ludwell. Wonder what caused him to seek Eastern Orthodox Christianity? Maybe it’s just speculation but it’s interesting that being Eastern Orthodox was “treasonable” and that part about the “higher taxes” as it was just a few years before the American Revolution that we are taught came about in opposition to the tea tax. Never mind the family dynamics of his closest companions that he witnessed. Life has more imagination than we do, indeed. And the Lord works in mysterious ways. Thank you for this article. May Christ keep this world we all share safe for all of us and especially for all future generations.
"and is reshaping our view of early America." A subtle but important point made concerning the eccumenical dialogues. It seems like so much of the dialogues are catered to westerners using historical narratives from western historians. These narratives are even adopted by many contemporary Orthodox. So much of our academia and scholasticism scarecely acknoweldges Eastern Christianity. So how can there be a helpful directive into truth?
And the greatest thing is orthodoxey keep growing in America and i hope it keeps going ☦️
