  • This is what relic hunting is like most of the time. long video and was an hour before I made a good find, but you have to dig all targets when digging a Civil War site.

this is the most honest representation of detecting ive seen yet everyone thinks they are gonna go out and find gold and silver every other hole and think there is something wrong with their detector after the first few hunts bravo for throwing it out there like it is enjoyed the vid

+chris hagerty , thanks so much. I know a few people who are ready to leave if they don't find a silver coin in the first 30 minutes of a hunt. Thanks for watching and good luck to you. Mike

Very well put. I must admit that because of those impatient beginners giving up, I have scored a few good deals on barely used equipment. Getting into this hobby with the intention of "getting rich" is nothing but fools gold. I enjoy retrieving old objects, coins, etc from the ground and my first thoughts when I have an item in my hand are who the last person was to carry, wear, use what I have pulled from the ground and how long it has been there waiting to be found. I really enjoy the look on peoples faces when I tell them how deep in the ground the finds were dug. This is a great hobby.

Thanks +CrossBow206 . It's typical for my dig to start this way. I have a shorter video set to post June 6. It's after I found a decent area after my camera glasses died that day. Thanks for watching. Mike

These days if I get a silver coin on a hunt that makes my day even if I don't I still enjoy just getting out, and putting the coil to the soil!! Thanks for making the vid I enjoyed it.

Hey Mike just found you channel, great videos...from a fellow Arkie.
I had to get out of the parks and fields was not finding anything old, the oldest coins
I found were dared in the 70s which tells me the old timer detector boys cleaned
them out a long time ago.
I started knocking on doors of the older homes to get pernissions and BAM!
I started finding IHPs, silver, tokens, and my favorite...Relics.
I guess the old timers did'nt knock on doors.
Keep on making your vids and HH

Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. Another thing I've heard other folks say is that they don't dig nickel signals, so there should be some Buffs and V's still out there. Good luck and thanks again.

Thanks for watching Darren. Sometimes watching all the videos here make it seem like everyone finds great things in every plug. Just wanted to show it's not always gold and silver even when it's a decent signal. After the battery died in my camera glasses, I found an area and made some interesting finds and that video will post June 6. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Mike

+Jon DAVID , I think it would have to be a good investment. I have a NEL storm for my AT-Pro and love it. I'm not sure what they do differently, but from my experience and what I hear from other people, NEL is the way to go. Thanks for watching and good luck. Mike

so every time you move to a new location you reset the detector..?

    • @DigginArkansas
      @DigginArkansas  6 років тому

Normally you just need to balance the machine to the ground minerals, but the machine in this video doesn’t save previous settings, so I have to set it up every time I turn it off and back on.

    good video
    truth will last .
digging trash comes with treasure at some point.
digging less or no trash wilk give youa modern coin most of the time.
one can buy a expensive detector lets say a 600 up to 1500 dollar unit ..
bit it will not guarantee treasure.
    or less trash.
discrimi out what you not like ..
means litterly , throw away your gold and deeper coins.
indeed it is a lit of work , especially the digging part.
    in my humble opionon ,
if you want to start the hobby ,and are a devoted person who want to do things good ..
then dont go for a budget detector , make ugly holes ,and sell the thing within a month for half the money..
try to save some money and but at least a 300 dollar machine .
    a tesoro , whites , fisher , or a second hand minelab .
doing it like this gives you the option of become a serious detectorist with capable material.
i am not able to look in anyones wallet and i say this not to distespect those unable to buy a u it of at least 300 dollar..
i saying this to help only.
it is a besutifull hobby , especially once devoted .
save your money until uou can buy a unit off 300 euro minimum.
a good beginning is half the work
i have tried the 1000 dillar machines and learned that there is no need for.
go to a goof and decent detector shop for a visit .
go back a second time wih
300 / 600 / 900 euroon your acount and take him with you.
start only if you want to make this a serious hobby please..
i get sometime frustrated seeing such a amount of badly digged and unclosed holes or plugs ..
in parks , beached , everywhere..
when starting , start responsible and good And keep this beautifull hobby alive for now and forever.
decent equipment is a pat of it .
it is not all gold what shines.
as a matter affect we are trash diggers .. hunting down the occasional treasure..
treasure as in a nice find ..
not as in 1000 dollar worth coins..
    these are extremely occasional..
but tat excitement alone must be enough for you.
    thanks for sharing.
