You are hands down the best teacher for beginners! Most other drummers present information assuming we know what they're talking about and cover concepts too quickly. You break down the beats slowly and use visuals which is the only way I've been able to learn! Keep the videos coming! I already purchased your ultimate guide for beginners and would love to see an intermediate package in the future! Thanks
very good! I would recommend watching Benny Greb's DVD's if you haven't already. Or if you watched them a long time ago, re-watch them. I am currently watching his DVD on the language of drumming and it is so interesting how he goes into detail with drumming and specifically rhthym. I watched a TEDx talk on maths being taught as a language which is also interesting but now Benny Greb talks about drumming as a language. He has a system of Binary and Ternary letters and each letter is a certain variation of fractions of the bar. Eg. A is 1/4 of the bar. It is the 1st note, so you go Click, rest, rest rest; click, rest, rest, rest... U is Ternary and is therefore out of 3. It is 2/3, with the 2 notes at the last 2 spaces. So it is rest, click, click; rest, click, click... He approaches rhthym threw a whole new way and he is honestly amazing. It can only better your knowledge and make you an even better drum teacher. Keep it up Gabe, I respect your passion for drumming. Thank you for you hard work, it is much appreciated amongst many drummers, even if they may not say so in the comments, I am sure they learn new things in different ways each time you teach. Stay awesome, keep keeping on and enjoy your day
I'll try this. I'm a beginner so moving the snare to beat 3 will throw me of. It's always 2 and 4 lol. Well sometimes I'll add it on every down beat or the & of 4. I struggle moving the kick drum to something other than 1, 3 and the & of 3.
I play drums in school and I'm the best in 1st year be cause of you I got my own bit in drums to and play loads of drum beats what I'm saying is for All those out there self confidence is more important than others confidence I only started two weeks back there's people from sixth year Im better that
Gabe, great lesson, it really help us to change our beats, I really love to throw some diddles here and there, maybe on the hats or as ghost notes on the snare, it also works great on this matter. Blessings, bro, thank you so much and, as always, keep it up!
Sorry for being out of topic. Just want to ask, which is better? Zildjian Worship pack or Zildjian K Custom 1250 Hybrid pack? P.S. The I saw the hybrid on the Thomman web page. And 2nd. Only Zildjian is available on my local store. Thanks for the help.
Great videos! Your explanations are very clear and understandable (since English is my second language). And I just started so it helps. A LOT. Kind of a stupid question but since I'm here... I'm just starting with drums and I have a problem with counting. I do everything just by hearing stuff and it comes out better. So I'm wondering if this will still work out when I progress in drumming or should I just go through with excruciating counting now, when I'm only just beginning? :) Thank you!
+FactoryFailure I'm so glad you enjoy the lessons! The fact that you are able to play by ear is amazing! But it is also important to have an understanding of what you are playing. So I'd recommend working on some of your counting as well because the knowledge will serve you in the future for sure!
Thank s Gabe this was nice to watch :D and my favorite drum trick is a drum fill at the moment , and I go from 16th note triplets for the 1st click and on the 2nd and 3rd I switch to 8th note triplets and for the 4th I try to fit in a 32nd note , I think it sounds pretty cool :D and I also have one little request Gabe , I really have been trying so hard to get my left hand and using my fingers to get the rebound down better and not be as weak. I know it isn't easy to do right away but maybe you could make a video on how to improve on it you know ? thanks for listening
This helped a lot! I just started my drumming channel on myjourneydrumming and have been teaching myself for about 1 month now! These types of videos help a lot for the absolute beginner! You can jump over to that channel and give some feedback? By the way I watch youre videos way more than drumlessons and drumeo now since they're geared towards advance drummer now a days! Keep up the great work! 👍
+RustiCo Filmz I'm so glad that I can help you along in your drumming journey! That's so encouraging to hear. Keep up the great work and thanks so much for your support!
I just started playing and while watching these I get a little jelous and it makes me think I can never get to this point. Is that a normal feeling or am I talentless?
kevin van dijk I didint think I would get a good response thank you so much for the motivational feedback I am training a lot and taking lessons. And I think I am getting somewhere :)
Maggot Gokhan good to hear! and just remember if you cant play something fast start slow and keep building up the pace and you could try to play some songs a lot of the mainstream music isnt to hard to play.
kevin van dijk Yes I know in most times my teacher teaches me something and then he doesnt tell the music Im playing and in the meantime Im playing it he just turn the music on and I get surprised because I can never think I can play those stuff
Maggot Gokhan well just keep going, although ive started earlier than you i had a 1,5 break from drumming you might almost be equal to my level. Its mainly repetition to get faster so i hope your gonna do great in whichever way you might end. maybe in a band that gets famous.. who knows? ;)
