So interesting to see the difference between the V8 and the Rotary. The V8 is a straight line monster but the RX7 is so much more nimble through the corners.
also, that Commodore wasnt hitting any of the Apex's, jumping out of the line and just blasting past opponents. Literally got like an extra 200HP and -100 skill on the RX7 driver here. RX7 driver would def get him with more laps, commodore tyres gone in a few more laps....
That was some outstanding driving mate. I love that you’re still campaigning an FD these years later. Your top end is wickedly fast. Watching this race was the most fun I’ve had watching a race in a long time. I subbed for more
Combination of things, mainly the heat of the exhaust, the porting and the tune. Richard at Green Brothers Racing tunes the 20B to allow a whole bunch of fuel whilst decelerating to cool the engine down, hence the flames.
The primary reason is the OMP delete and overrun. The Oil Metering Pump injects oil into the rotor housing to help keep the seals lubricated. This isn't usually very reliable long term. After it's deleted you must run essentially 2 stroke oil in the gas. You cannot use overrun cutoff during decel as you'd be starving the seals of oil.
What an amazing machine and amazing driver... Wow!! That thing runs so good, truely fine engineering and balancing, etc. I like how when you try to see running data on the dash, it is blocked by the big LINK sticker, as to say.. don't worry this sick ass computer is handling some crazyness right now!! That was great, the mix of cars, the scream, also of the driver in the end, seeing physics in motion and how these cars bump around on that one straight. Must have been sooo much fun to drive with those people. Want want want! :D
Thanks algorithm. Car sounds mental and driving is amazing. Some upshifts seem to take time occasionally, like at 5:25, but the very next shift seems way smoother. Was that an issue with the gearbox?
We had a bizarre miss on gas reapplication that weekend that we've never had before. That has since been fixed with the introduction of flat-shift: ua-cam.com/video/9G37ECgd9l8/v-deo.html
Love me a nice 3 rotor like this. My first racecar was a 80s Toyota Corolla with a huge 800 cfm 4 bbl carb stroked out huge 600 lift cam mouse trap springs all naturally aspirated asphalt circle track racing beast turning 9500 rpms and raw race fuel spitting flame burping throttle lifts it's a beast and still got it in race ready condition still but no where near me races rwd ministocks any more and I raced it when I was 11
fucking hell I got flooded with emotion watching this, I was not ready for that. The sounds, the visuals, I got properly sucked into this as if I was driving, surreal and incredible!
Man that sound is mesmerising, is this built for flat foot shifting? It sounds like at times shifts were faster than others or I must just be hearing things
We had a bizarre issue with a slight miss after upshifts that weekend that we'd never encountered before. This was at the time that the car required a 'lift and shift' with the sequential. After this we went to a flat-shift ECU setup. Check out some later videos to see the vast improvement. ua-cam.com/video/ZzhGJv87qwU/v-deo.html
Reverse grid handicap racing. Faster cars start behind with a time delay in order to all bring the field together at the end of the race. We started far enough behind that the first car taking off would be heading down the front straight before we had started, hence the need for a pit lane start.
3:51am trying to find something soothing to fall asleep to and this pops up might as well get up make some coffee and pretend my civic has a sequential trans... I'll sleep when I die... thanks 👍🏽
Screaming engines, whining gears, squealing brakes, burbling flaming throttle lifts....I love the visceral rawness of race cars
yh but it must be like a whole workout to drive these race cars
Indeed love the rawness, modern street cars come with burble and flame tunes rather than raw performance
So many beautiful sounds or noises
Everyone forgot to mention no annoying music.
Don't forget the left side mirror hanging on for dear life on that monster. 🤣
you can see flames in the rear view

5 gallons? That would make the rotary 22.7 litres. And I have no idea what a pail is.

Such a smooth sounding engine.
Mazda's are the cars that got me into loving anything with a motor. Good stuff!
I don’t think anything could be better than this….pure perfection.
Have 7 gears ?
Badass!
A MPH and RPM overlay would be amazing!

Such a great driver for this car. Pushing every corner to close the gap. 4:43 is the moment that I know I’ll F up. Respect.
Keeping up with v8 supercars is insane
Those are modified V8 SuperTourers, a NZ series that has now finished.
Power to weight ratio is an incredible advantage in racing, & rotary engines are super lightweight compared to even an i4 piston - rod engine
Almost sounds like a f1 car all the way up top! 🔥🔥
probably better than an F1 since this is just a cockpit pov
Words on a friends T shirt:: If it ain't a rotor, it ain't a motor. The driver(man or woman), is a very good driver. Fast reflexes
Damn, that was intense. Rotary sound never gets old..
Orsum, Music to my ears!!! Lovely piece of driving sir. WOW WHAT A RUSH!!! Stay Blessed!!!
the way you can hold speed through those last two corners is insane. no one else was able to keep it tidy through there. you sir have balls of steel.
Always wondered why rotary engines spit fire so much. Is it just dumping fuel which gets ignited by exhaust temp?

Curious, from gears 3-4 onward, there seems to be a noticeable audible delay in power delivery, is this for sake of preserving the gearset?
