I can't get enough of Jim talking music production. His little podcast he had during the pandemic Pass Through Frequencies is a great window into his eager intrigue with how other musicians approach their craft.

They blew the doors off of 1996 for me and everyone I knew who heard them. I'll never forget the first show they played in Detroit. They weren't the last act that day and somehow got 3 encores. Which wasn't a thing at those shows. After the 2nd, people actually yelled "we'll kick your ass if you get off stage". I think they said they played every song they knew afterwards. I still love those records. Thanks Amoeba!
I remember this band, it's as been a minute since I've heard them but that was seriously one of the best episodes of this show I've come across, all solid picks of groups I haven't heard of. His enthusiasm is infectious.
This guy and the band are so great, if you’re like, “whoa omg jimmy eat world remember them?” GO LISTEN to their music. Jams on jams on jams that need more play
I am a history buff. And when you hear a specialist in some history niche geek out about their specialty, there is a certain magic that makes it more interesting than it otherwise would be. And that's the exact same vibe Jim is laying down here.
I guess it makes sense that the frontman for my favorite band likes a lot of the same music that I do. Was super glad you included Low. ❤ Love you, Jim! Hoping to see you guys for the third consecutive summer in Baltimore.
But how original would that be? He's showing you everything HE listens to that inspires him, not a prerequisite list YOU must acquire. Its a personal intimate thing he's sharing and not a comprehensive reference guide to 'Emo Inspiration 101'
It’s a good idea for when they buy all new albums. Sometimes people buy rare things off the wall, I’m excusen because they are finally sellin used albums soon on websue
I was missing EA Sports NHL today so I was listening to Jimmy Eat World a lot all day. And then I randomly come across this 20 minutes after it's uploaded. Serendipity.
@@blackspring3207 The band name actually refers to the guitarist's younger brother, Jim Linton. Not Jim Adkins. The fact that the front-man has the same name is a pure coincidence lmao
I never got into his music, but Jim definitely has a wonderfully articulate way of thinking about music, and his thoughts on the Low record accentuated that especially.
perfect last LP to round out the haul. that Low record is wholly unique in its production and juxtaposed timbres. what an interesting mix from Jim. nice insights and philosophies, too. really good one, amoeba. cheers, all. hugs from afar.
jim adkins always looks like a person you wanna sit to have a cup of coffee with. what a charismatic guy. no surprised he’s such an iconic frontman from one of best bands from 2000s.
Jim totally gives the vibe of a golden retriever 😂 jesus, i just HAD to say it 😂 like, hes got really so, so sweet personality, it's impossible not to love this guy ❤
I dreamt that I clicked the video, and it led to Schroeder and Peppermint Patty from Peanuts talking about Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart and the preview bits were five minutes long
Yo did not see him pulling out Municipal waste. I was looking away when i suddenly heard wave of death start i had to back up and check it was the same video
Enjoy Aldous Harding too . I tend to do think to myself upon a first or second listening to an album, _I would have done that, or why didn't they do this_ , so I'll give Loney Dear a listen.
Hai, I'm Jin Atkins diet, you know me from football song "the middle" played by NFL lovers everywhere and when I listen to music album I say "hey!!! What wool Jin Aktors do!?" Cause that's me and I'm made of platinum, BABY!!!
He just doesn't get old
I am so fascinated by this dude. The way he speaks about music is intriguing to me.

Jim is so cute and he explains everything so well
Isn't he ? A guy that you just wanna hug ❤❤❤😊
It would be really awesome if there was a Spotify playlist that went along with these videos!
Does anyone else watch these episodes regardless of whether you like the band/artist or not?
I do.. Gives me new bands to listen to.. And i like to hear people talk..
I do
I specifically watch videos of artists I hate and I laugh at their pleb tastes while I play merzbow records on repeat

Listen to their album Clarity. Like now.
They would play that Kings Of Convenience song all the time on the music tv channel in college. Really took me back. Thanks Jim/Amoeba!

I love jimmy eat world and i love the waste. I cant believe he dropped that band on this.
He seems like such a down to Earth guy, and still making great music!
this episode is why i watch this series, when artists bring new (to me) music to light ,that might be enjoyed by others
Very professional interview

Nobody even looks past The Middle. They're not one hit wonders. They're still producing quality music.
Most consistent band. They’ve never stopped killing it
zero bad albums, love all their stuff but integrity blues and surviving are something else
@@vj9988 Exactly. There was more than one hit off of Bleed American alone.
Surviving is a great record. They're really good live too.

So much respect for Jim and for Jimmy Eat World. Really enjoyed this interview. Looking forward to checking out, "What's In Jim's Bag."
Municipal waste? Hell yeah
Dude, yes
Jim’s name is Jim but it’s not the reason for the band’s name...love that

I was smiling during the whole video ☺️ perfect

Another well-spoken, articulate musician with eclectic taste. Love this series.
I was not at all expecting the lead singer to be a soft-spoken, methodical, and ecclectic artist, but I'm also not complaining.
You weren’t expecting such..sweetness?
@@LampwicksCigar aw hell yeah, nice.
This guy looks exactly like he looked in those videos. Didn't know they were still around. Never aged.
How old is Jim now?

You’ve missed out on a lot of incredible music. Jimmy Eat World never stopped being consistent.
Futures.
Very intriguing and diverse musical tastes, always interesting to see what different artists enjoy listening too.
Closest to my personal tastes that Ive seein these videos! Very cool!
If JIm's picks were a classroom,
Municipal Waste is like that lone stoner kid among the geeks.
It blows my mind that you guys don’t have over a million subs!
When it seems unfathomable to respect an artist and songwriter more, they go and pull out Municipal Waste and blow minds
So psyched to listen to all of these!

This gentleman is very well spoken.
He looks like if Jim Carrey and Tom Delonge had a kid
Best comment like this ever. Spot on
There's a pinch of Greg Dulli in there too
Dude looks like my Government professor lol
Love Jimmy Eat World.
Nailed it.
Shit, this is so accurate and scary at the same time 😦
I really enjoy watching these bc most of the time I’ve never heard of the bands they pick
Jim has brought me so much musical happiness in my life, but there is no chance I’d like him pick the playlist in my car.
Jimmy Eat World = best band of all time
Did not expect the Municipal Waste pick lol. Awesome
I was just listening to Chase This Light earlier today...
Yes King's of Convenience was my life album in 2004
Jimmy Eat World is one is my favorite bands. As soon as he recommended Municipal Waste they became even more so 🤘🤘
I love that Jim carries a bunch of unopened records with him wherever he goes

Jimmy, can you tell us what you were smoking when you wrote 555?
I met Jim a few times about 20 years ago. He's one of the nicest guys ever. Plus, he hasn't aged, so he's obviously in league with Satan. :)
I love you Jim
A new one?? Awesome!!
Double Negative is an incredible record
I just had a dream about an animated What’s In My Bag oh my gosh
I dreamt that I clicked the video, and it led to Schroeder and Peppermint Patty from Peanuts talking about Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart and the preview bits were five minutes long
Alex Borrego your dreams are cool i just dream about sitting
mesa az represent. the only artist featured on here from mesa, arizona as far as i know
Jim cracks me up.
What’s your fav Jimmy Eat World song? I’d have to say mine is Closer, It Matters or Just Watch The Fireworks
If you dont, dont
Work.
THANK YOU JIM FOR GIVING ALDOUS HARDING SOME PRAISE!!!!!!!
Hell yeah Low is amazing! I like that Jim is throwin some respect on Minnesota’s name
Such an underrated and awesome band. Great picks as well
The first album he picked out is one of my most listened to albums as well
This was really good one
Love jimmy eat world.
What a legend.

Please open up soon I miss you amoeba
What a cutie pie
i could live in hope is still one of Low's best albums
His face stil the same. Lol
I just listened to his songs. Lol
If the metal head wasn't going to buy any metal records I was going to be pissed.

Pulls out Municipal Waste! xD
Legend!!
I love Jim Adkins...I think he is an amazing artist and I think he is cute
Jimmy Eat World sounds like one of those global buffet-type pay-a-tenner-and-eat-all you want restaurant chains, rather than a rock band.
Richmond represent!
I want him to start a music magazine
Jim's a cool dude.
seems like he is a nice dude who listens to it all. nice.
Jesus i would hang myself if i had to listen to this guys playlist. Very melancholy
Aldous Harding ...he has great taste ...she is the most talented musician performing right now.
the low record is insane
Get Fred Durst to do this one of these days.
Drunk Sutherland yessssss
His first pick will be a girls gone wild vhs
Hell probably try to be cool and edgy and just fall flat on his face.
Anyone else think he kinda looks like Bruce Campbell...? Also excellent selection and interview!
Wow... He looks like Louie Barletta.
The Middle.
Picking a Low record is always a good choice.
Love Kings of Convenience!
They're great.
I like "Declaration of Dependence" more than the one he picked, great band either way though.
