this was her first concert. she did it again on her 2nd concert, singing a. MOIRA DELA TORRE song (who's another uniquely talented Filipino artist, btw). i highly recommend you check it out, too.
Filipino comedian singers do this a lot, and it's not just Western singers that they imitate but Filipino singers as well. It's hilarious every time.
In all honesty & in as much as I love other singers like Morisette, but for me Katrina is the power vocal i have always admired after Regine true to her title as the Asia’s Vocal Supreme.

As a foreigner that discovered these Pinay divas only a few years ago, I can say begrudgingly that I missed Regine's heyday, but the little I have seen of her, I can understand why she is revered so much. When I think of her, my first thought is of how clean that power is, which brings me back to the beast that is Katrina Velarde.
Katrina is THE premier female vocal acrobat/gymnast of this generation to me. Absolutely love both of the afore mentioned.
Funny enough, it's right at the end of her going to sit down on the stage after "Never Enough" is when this beautiful confident woman, was turned into this shy and nervous fangirl by non other than the Queen herself. It's the one and only time I can say that Katrina Velarde's voice was weak, for 30 seconds or so. Absolutely beautiful moment

noticed that she sat down after that performance? that's because what followed was a REGINE VELASQUEZ song, ARAW-GABI, and Katrina invited Regine as a guest (they belong to the same recording company, VIVA) and Regine said she couldn't come because of a prior commitment but it was a lie. it was meant to be a SURPRISE for Katrina because REGINA VELASQUEZ has been and idol and inspiration since she was young. it was the very 1ST TIME that Katrina and Regine SHARED THE STAGE together so it was a dream come true for Kat. it was also an AMAZING DUET despite Kat being emotional at this point. she still made it through the end and Regine congratulated her and gave her encouraging and inspiring words of advice because as talented as she is, Katrina at this point is still auper underrated and lacking in confidence as a ln artist in the industry.
She is entitled now as ASIA'S VOCAL SUPREME

The actress in The Greatest Showman was supposed to sing Never Enough but when it was debuted to the producers by Laren Allred they were so impressed that they had her sing the song and the actress just lip sync. Even though the song made her name basically a household word she couldn't make a living here in the States. You should see her audition singing it on Britain's Got Talent recently!!!
Another world class singer that couldn't make it in America's corrupt music industry is Glennis Grace. You should see her in her 2017 performance of Whitney's Run To You at Ladies of Soul!! She is phenomenal!!!

for context comedy clubs and hall entertainers in PH combine the talent of being comedic, having a musical flair and doing voice impersonation. i believe Katrina started from being a 'kontesera' or someone who frequently joins singing contest where she honed her singing skills but she also blended with culture of comedians for some time. so in this concert, it is likely that she will include a segment like this which shows her incredible skill of both singing and voice impersonation.
it really is a fantastic treat to go to a comedy bar at PH because you'll be paying for two types of entertainment in one - the comedy part and singing part.
Rufa Mae Quinto is a Filipino comedian. Filipino comedians are also great singers. But for Rufa Mae’s case, she can sing but it’s just hard to find videos of her singing seriously. She always infuses comedy while singing, but there are bits & pieces where you can hear she can carry a tune.
